Hatton: I couldn't get over the Manny Pacquiao defeat

Disgraced former world champion Ricky Hatton has apologised to his fans following his descent into drink and drugs. The 31-year-old officially confirmed his retirement after he was secretly filmed apparently snorting cocaine - with police to investigate the allegations. And although Hatton, who has now checked into rehab, has admitted to "dabbling in silly things", he has insisted he never took drugs during his boxing career. He told ITV's Daybreak: "I've upset my fans, my family, everybody that has been with me from day one. Sorry is not a big enough word for what I want to say to them." Asked if he used the class A drug while boxing, he added: "No. Never, never." Hatton last fought in May 2009 when he lost in two rounds against Manny Pacquiao - and it is while dealing with the humiliation of sporting lows, coupled with personal problems, that things got on top of him. "I was suffering really, really badly so even though I always used to have a drink, I started drinking a little bit more, and along with the depression I think my personal life hasn't been great," said Hatton. "My relationship with my parents hasn't been the best and along with struggling and coping with retirement, things got on top of me and slowly just went from bad to worse and it ended up resulting in dabbling in other silly things.'' __________________________________________________________ Damn, Manny Pacquiao should be ashamed, its because of him this guy has been destroyed

did you remember how long Hatton was down on the ground for. Hatton was taking a nap in the middle of the ring. yes, i watched the fight. like i said, hatton was demolished. he didnt know what hit him. Pacquiao put him out mercifully rather than extend the fight unnecessarily, unlike with the mayweather fight, where hatton had to endure mayweather methodically taking him apart.

hatton should be more embarrassed with his loss to mayweather than to pacquiao. With mayweather, hatton stumbling and hitting his face at the corner padding is embarrassing. The way mayweather methodically took him apart is embarrassing. With the Pacquiao fight, he didnt stand a chance and was demolished. Nothing to be ashamed with the pacquiao fight because the fight finished mercifully early with that one punch. did you remember how long Hatton was down on the ground for. Well hatton said the Pac loss embarassed him more. He mentioned 2 rounds and being unconscious for 5 minutes. With Floyd he wasnt unconscious at any point. He was groggy and seeing stars that is all. he did get demolished with the pacquiao fight, considering he was the defending lineal champ at 140lb. at least pacquiao put him out of his misery fast, unlike mayweather where he was toyed around by mayweather. For him, the pacquiao was worse, although I would look at the Mayweather fight as one that gave him his first loss, and a convincing one at that. With Pacquiao, he was just put out to pasture.
