A draw with Sergio Mora is not good. No disrespect to Sergio because I think he is a good fighter and I like him but Shane should have beaten him comfortably. I think the fight with Floyd took it all out of Mosley, both physically and mentally. It wasnt like his fights with Vernon and Winky where he had his moments but got outboxed down the stretch. Against Floyd he got his ass whooped for 10 straight rounds and basically gave up on winning after about round 6. In a fight that he had been seeking and wanting for years. That must have hurt.
I think now he has nothing more to achieve. He's won 5 world titles in 3 weight classes and despite 6 losses and being caught taking steroids, he still has a fairly high place amongst boxing fans and boxing experts. Shane has taken alot of punishment in his career particuarly in his fights with Mayweather, Wright, Forrest, De La Hoya and Cotto and it's starting to effect his speech and health.
People will disagree with me but what does he have to gain from boxing anymore? His big thing was to get the fight with Floyd, He finally got his chance and lost. There's no need for a rematch and Pacquiao will never fight him, not even at a catchweight. Those two are the only big name fighters around Shane's weight class. Berto might fight him but where does that get him? It's not a big fight. I just think that he's had a great career, is a partner in GBP and will have no problems making money from that. His health and skills arent what they used to be and I don't see what he has left to achieve. I think it's time for him to hang them up.
what you say is contradict.
if shane can get a draw with a good middleweight isnt that a good thing?
how many welterweights would beat mora? i dont even think cotto can beat mora.
what has Mora done in the middleweight division yet to be a good 160 pounder as you claim...I havent seen him against a recent decent middleweight last time.........................

it has nothing to do with the fight with mayweather, but rather that he didn't fight for a year and half before fighting him.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Before their fight, Shane had been involved in 2 fights in the 20 months prior. Floyd had been involved in 2 fights in the prior 30 months. So your excuse isnt valid in any way. You should think more before posting because what you said just doesnt stack up.
Shane lost because he fought an opponent who is better than he is. Simple as that. They could have fought 5-10 years ago and he still would have lost by a wide margin.

absurd, why should Shane Mosley retire? he went 12 with a guy who is a natural Middleweight and Shane is naturally a Lightweight, he's lost to Vernon Forrest at Welterweight and lost to him due to a similar styles except Vernon was 100 times more aggressive and precise than Mora was..
Sergio is a clever Boxer, not because you have only 6 KO's and you've been on reality TV doesn't mean you don't have the will of a fighter, a loss to Sergio Mora says nothing bad about you because Sergio Mora has beaten some very well respected guys, he gave Ishe Smith his 1st defeat and we all know Ishe is a BEAST, he beat Peter Manfredo twice, he defeated Vernon Forrest and was able to get a draw against Shane Mosley even while not being aggressive and doing all he could have had he been pushing the offense, we are not talking about a bad fighter here..
give credit where it's due man Ricardo Mayorga got knocked out by Shane at Middleweight and Sergio Mora got a draw with Shane at a more comfortable weight for Shane at Jr Middleweight, that is no coincidence that the bigger man got knocked out in this instance, bottom line is you can't really discredit Sergio Mora as "ehh" because he's more than that..
Shane got a draw because ora was tricky, he didn't leave himself available for the shots he did a great job of avoiding big punches, he may have lacked aggresion but it allowed him to take in much less punishment, he knew who he was in there with and he knew if he engaged it could be good night, he admitted to showing too much respect to Shane too and I think it's because he respected Shane's power..
This fight is NOT an indicator that Shane Mosley needs to retire, he still has other options available, he can fight any Welterweght or Jr Middleweight champion just off his name and promotional ability alone due to his affiliation with HBO and Golden Boy, he can get at least 1 or 2 more big fights so for him to retire now especially when he clearly still has the hunger to be the best again is literally absurd
I don't think he's finished. When has Mosley ever looked impressive against guys who can box and move? Also when has Mosley looked great at 154? His power wasn't there at the weight, and it didn't help that he was fighting against a Middleweight. He's still an elite boxer, and he'll beat anyone at 147 outside of Floyd and Manny.
Let's see Mosley-Berto or Mosley-Clottey! :boxing:
Seriously you Floyd fans are doing my head in
"Floyd ruined him" - BS. Shane got hammered around the ring by Forrest/Wright before Floyd and has taken big shots from big punchers like Cotto/Mayorga/DLH. Floyd outboxed him thoroughly, but come on, that's all he did. i give him credit for beating Shane, but not that much credit
shane still has a couple fight left in him. 1st off mora can make anyone look bad against him all he does is jab and grab. 2nd when is the last time you seen shane on the canvas? when is the last time you seen shane sleeping like ricky? and against mayweather he was clearly weight drain making 147. if you seen the fight at 154 sure is was boring because of mora but you seen shane chasing and throwing punches intill the bell rang in the 12th. and a fucing draw no way shane won the fight UD. i say shane can bang with anyone in the 154 division. has a couple more good fights left in him
