WBA Heavyweight champion David Haye has revealed that he will retire from the sport next year. In an interview with the Chris Moyles show on bbc radio 1, Haye was asked " What do you think about Klitschko calling you a coward ? " Haye replied " I think it's quite amusing. The fight will happen next year. I'm retiring next year, so it happens next year ".
Haye also reveled in the interview that he sometimes doubles or even triples his purses by betting on himself to win in a certain round. Haye said he will text his mates in the morning of the fight to tell them which round to bet on. If his opponents start to go down in the wrong round he will back off waiting until the correct round to take them out ".
I dont see how its legal to bet on yourself. I mean that just seems insane to me. Why doesnt Wlad then put all his money on him to lose by KO to Sam Peter, he could become a billionaire overnight. 100mil at 11-1 odds, heck he could predict round 1 ko and get probably like 20-1 odds. I wouldnt fault anyone for doing that.
that just seems wrong. I guess being international and without one sanctioning body its damn near impossible to prevent but when a guy is admitting he is betting on himself and changing results...thats crazy.
Pete Rose was harshly criticized for saying he only bet on his team in baseball(that was a lie of course), but even betting on your team could adversely affect the game. You might use all your pitchers up for that game, or play an injured player etc...
Tennis players can't bet on themselves, I doubt boxers are allowed to do it. And even if they were, Haye is just talking ****.
Haye will retire without proving sheat? All He has proven is that HE can talk the talk, but will beatchout when it's time to walk.
Who will remember this hyped up bum in 5 years.

You Gaye fans must be so proud, hoping for your hero to delay the fight so that the Klitschkos are past their prime
Do you have any manners? did your parents teach you anything? Seriously, all I see if you calling people names if you interpret a different way. Be a bit more respectful to make this forum a better place
When did I say I was a fan of Haye? I just guessed at what I think he is going which seems logical from a financial point of view
High risk High reward= klits
Low risk High reward= Harrison
from a financial which fight would you take first and second?
exactly, its all about the right time. As I said earlier he wanted to fight harrison first to get big money for easy risk, at the same time he can fill out more as a heavyweight AND also the brothers are another year older. so it will be easier for him the longer he leaves it

I have no doubt he will fight the klitschos. The bros want it and haye says he wants it. This isnt no Pac and floyd situation, no requests for OSDT to get in the way.

Well he hasnt got much of a heavyweight CV, so if he beat two Klitschos that would be a decent resume to boast of. No one has ever beat both the brothers as far as i know.
Haye should try and do the impossible. But first things first. Audley stands in the way.
no no, forget resume, forget legacy and all that
Looking at his interviews all haye cares about is £££££
now lets look at this without hating or anything, what are the three biggest money fights for haye?
1 both klits- haye will make about 15-20m from that fight, maybe even higher
2 Harrison he will make about 10-15 million from that fight
now lets put this in order of risk
1 klits

10000- harrison lol
so if you cared only about money which fight would you take first, knowing if you lose any fight you will lose rest of your big money fights.
the money/smart thing to do is take the harrison fight first, make the money there and then go for the brothers which will still be worth the same amount of money.
If haye beats the first klit, he will go for the 2nd, if he doesnt then he will retire
nah he always planned it. its obvious he didnt want the brother fight right now, I think he will def fight both. the thing is, in his career there are three huge money fights
harrison and the brothers, he needed to fight the easiest first because if he loses the 50-50 fight against the brothers he wont get a pay day with harrison
by doing harrison first he guarantees himself at least 2 big pay days. his last two fights will be against the brothers imo

Stop saying you are going to retire next year Haye. Fight Wlad and then Vitali and then decide what you want to do.

What he means to say is that he'll retire next year and fight Dimitrenko. Hey, Alex is a big scary looking Ukranian with a ko at the end of his name. Haye's fans won't know any different.
is that legal???
it is.
i saw an interview with floyd where they brought the same thing up, the other ppl on teh show asked the same thing but he cleared it up. alot of fighters bet on themselfs actually. floyd, haye, hopkins and RJJ i believe (not lately i hope). with the mix of big egos and big money its not too surprising.

this motherfuka pulled out 100 times already, im ashamed that i was even exited about him coming into the heavyweight division.
i hope this fight does happen, and i hope wladimir makes good on his promise of punishing him for 12 rounds.
i wont be satisfied with a fast ko, i want wlad to maul him all over the ring, i want haye's body to be taken out on a stretcher after the 12th round.
