It all depends on the first few rounds. Diaz gave JMM some prob early on in their foty. Katz is stronger and im expecting this fight to heat up from the opening bell. JMM on points
So, fellas - does Kats get full credit for beating an "old" 37 year-old Marquez who should, by rights, destroy the crude slugger?
The only way Kats can win this is if JMM becomes an old man during the fight. We've all seen this happen. The phenomena exists.
Having said that,
Exactly what you said. Allow me to elaborate:
If Katsidis beats Marquez he will get full credit for beating a washed-up- mere-shadow-of-his-former-self-over-the-hill-waaaaay-past-his-prime Juan Manuel Marquez.
The question should be:
How much credit is full credit for the aforementioned (unlikely) victory?
The answer?
Not much.

If he stops marquez,he will get credit from me.
Personally I think JMM will counter every mistake Kats makes...
katsidis' size & youth will definitely play a big part in this...
having said that, JMM holds all the other advantages! specially the styles and the experience...
but at 37 years of age... idk...
hopefully JMM & erik morales wins so a fight between them can be made!
Diaz is much better technically, and has a pretty good jab. A lack of technique against marquez even at the twilight of his career is a recipe for disaster. No one has stopped marquez yet and he has been in there with bigger punchers than katsidis so I think your being hopeful. I really like your boy and don't get me wrong I think he has a chance, but that chance relies on marquez hitting father time in this fight. I believe it will be competitive though because marquez has slowed down.
That's primarily what Kats will be relying on, but even then it doesn't matter so much in the grand scheme of things - he's still getting a good payday, his first ever PPV main event slot, and big time worldwide exposure.
It's the pinnacle of his career, and even if he loses he'll have lost to one of the best in the biz. I'm just happy he's finally hitting the big time and facing a truly elite opponent. He's worked hard enough for it.
The Diaz that Marquez fought was no joke, and IMO better than Kats is right now.
Ahh, now we're talking. If the Diaz who showed up in the first Marquez fight would've fought the Kats who showed up against Mitchell, I'm totally confident that Kats would've fucked him up badly.
And if the current version of Kats would've been in there against Marquez, he would've fucked him up too. The only reason Diaz lost to Marquez the first time is because he didn't have the power to finish him.
I'll continue to maintain that the only reason Kats lost to Diaz (i.e. got outboxed) was because he was majorly gunshy after the shock Casamayor gave him. He wasn't 'himself' in there.
I still wouldn't mind a Kats-Diaz rematch, just to wipe that slate clean and move on from it.
Unless Kats finishes him before he "gets his timing right". If Diaz gave Marquez hell for 9 rounds...

Me too. It will take Marquez time to get the timing right, but once he does he is stopping Katsidis.

I think it is closer to a FOTY candidate, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if marquez does a number on him. A year or 2 ago this was a big mismatch and certain ko loss for katsidis. But I think the aussie has got more experience now and marquez has clearly slowed down so it could be great, I still think marquez should win by tko, I think katsidis will get timed with shots...im looking between round 6-9 possibly on cuts but most likely tko.

Me and you are betting. How many points do you want to lose to me?
As I said, once the Super Six fights are done for this year (and those are still tentative, so that's why I'm holding out), we can look into it. You'll be losing something in the region of 3 million, at the very least. :wnk1:
Marquez face was swollen at the end of the secound fight because of an EYE POKE he said after the fight, and you could tell his face was abnormally swollen couldnt have been produced by the lack of Diaz presence and power in the fight.
talking about faces,I wonder how katsidis face will look after the fight.:boxing:
Both of their faces are gonna look bad, don't know who's will look worse.
Out of gas? WTF were u watching he was in complete control the entire fight against a man 10 years his junior and if that was the case as you say i think Diaz would have gotten aggressive, hell if there is anytime to be agressive its when the other guy is tired especially in the middle rounds. I think Diaz is a smarter enough fighter to have recognized that.
Sorry man I think this is more wishful thinking than anything.
Mother fucker!
I should be askin' you that!
Depends on JMM. If he's at (let's say, for the sake of discussion) 75% of his peak or better, it's a mismatch. If below, could well be a FOY candidate. Either way JMM by brutal KO before the end of the 10th round.
Should be fun.
WAR JMM!!!:boxing:
