Can floyd fans please answer this for me. before we even dream of putting him in there with Robinson, leoanrd, hearns. All fighters that would slaughter floyd.
ok u think u know what your talking about, what was the division between ww and middle weight back then??? what is it now??? why did robinson choose to move up?? when u answer these questions then u may get a bit of knowledgde on the subject.
Dude i am about to eat..This has been the easist debate ever..Still no names..Case closed. As for your point here..You may be shocked to know that there was not a jr class at the time of Robinson, these didnt happen until the late 50's early 60's. Not sure what the point is. Lamatto weighed at 160 thus since he was the heaviest fighter, the maximum weight limit would be based off his weight. he was 160 Robinson 145, thus since the middleweight limit was 160, then this was a middleweight fight. Really this is something my 7 year old son would know.
moe, curley, larry.
I think this thread is abit of a fail because the TS will knock down my posts. Proberbly a Pacquiao fan but I will answer the question...
At welterweight he's beaten Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Baldomir and Ricky Hatton. You could argue they arent "great" but they are the best of this era. All of them were world champions. The only other two top welterweights of this era that he hasnt beaten are Pacquiao and Cotto. And I believe that he will have beaten both of them by the time he retires. And then what will people say?
"Pacquiao was a natural lightweight, Floyd cherrypicked him" :lol1:
anyone arguing that sharmba mitchell, baldomir and hatton are the best welterweights of this era is in need of serious medical attention.
maybe you should ask your self. 160 was the middleweight limit in Robinson era.
Now do your homework. Can a fighter lamotta weight in at the middleweight limit 160, and challenge a fighter who weighs less even 15 pounds less.
There is no restriction on the minimum wieght you have to weight, only the maximum. Learn your facts. if the smaller fighter wants to fight a much heavier fighter that is on them.

aside from the obvious that this is a hate thread. pac hasnt fought any prime, elite fighters except in MAB at feather, he rematched morales after the loss (thats where the repeating order begins) and oh yeah he "beat" JMM at super feather. pac hasn't done much except gone up in weight where the differences were 5 lbs at most. this just gives much more evidence to the double standard in floyds/pac achievements, it kills me to see ppl say pac is a top 10 WW when all he has is a vunerable cotto and the welterweight kevin johnson, 'clottey'. oh yeah and dlh who looked awesome at 147 after only 7 years of not fighting at that weight. pull the trigger pls.
dude, what was the ww limit when ray robinson fought??? what was the middle weight limit???

Exactly. We can already see this coming the same way we saw the "Shane was old" coming when they were bashing Floyd for not fighting him.
Or the "Ricky Hatton has the style to beat Floyd, sign the fight coward!!" cries or even the DLH cries and calling him "a little shrimp" at the weigh ins...
We all know the minds of the haters, they exposed themselves too much and are now mere raging animals with pointy teeth. FU Haters.
ur a fool. im not even bothering with u anymore. u dont even understand the difference between today's weight classes and yesterdays yet u try to make points using of all people, sugar ray robinson. go stare at boxrec some more.
this shows the level of boxing iq we are dealing with...
easy to discredit and run your dumb ass off the board. Your statement was simply if they were fighting at the welterweight limit. Who said their fight was at the welterweight limit? Maybe idiot since one of the fighters was at 160, maybe it was at the middleweight limit, as if you had any common sense that must be what the issue was, as you can fight LESS than the limit which is what Robinson did. But that must be too challenging for you to comprehend.

dude..It was for the 160 pound limit idiot. Robinson could come in at what ever weight under 160 he wanted. Hmmmmm simple common sense...
again moe, larry, curly applies...

dude, lamotta whould not be allowed to weigh in at 160 and fight a 145lb robinson. do u know many weight classes that is???

do natural peak welters even exist? pac and cotto were the two best fighters around and i guess they don't qualify as natural since they started their career at lower weights. so who else was around. paul williams started his career at a higher weight so he doesn't count and margarito started at lightweight so he's out. judah is a 140 pounder so he's gone. that leaves us with only one guy left.............carlos "tata" baldomir! he fits all the criteria. he was peak, and he was great(he must be if he was lineal) and he was the only natural welterweight that was around the past 5 years.
Moe, larry, and curly just do not get it, or know boxing.. Hilarious., But that is what you get when you have a open forum. there is no iq test for admission.
he would never have been allowed to fight lamotta...dude seriously ..shut up... That is dumb. Robinson could have fought who ever he wanted to fight. learn boxing. I know his story, you seem to not know it..Learn boxing back out of debate you dont even know what the hell your talking about.
dude, lamotta whould not be allowed to weigh in at 160 and fight a 145lb robinson. do u know many weight classes that is???
Youre exposing yourself once again, who cares about Bert Sugar's list? Its opinion, like I said LaMotta wasnt a great fighter at 20 and 21 years old, you really want to debate that?
did i make it up, or did your dumbass say noone would rate Lamotta as a great fighter..
ur an idiot. find where i said lamotta weighed in at ww?? ur the one using boxrec to back up a weak argument.
first of all, at the time u are talking about, weight classes were nowhere near as static as they are now. yes srr weighed at ww limits in a lot fo their fights, but its totally different than weight classes today, because he would have never been allowed to fight lamotta in this day and age. which is totally amazing. but ur comparing apples and oranges. robinson was more than a ww, he weighed many dfferent weights and i think he fought lamotta at such a low weight because it allowed him to outbox him more effectively. robinson is a god of boxing, but u dont understand his sitory enough to use him in your arguments so stop it.

Still waiting.........
You can give me all the backhanded compliments you want, to get me off your back. But if you're gonna make reckless statements, you're expected to back them up with some examples.
Your not on my back. It is funny that you all cant name one fightr..You all are looking like moe, larry and curly fidgeting around because it is checkmate.
Your cousin bhop just said no one considers jake lamotta great
or that robinson beating lamotta when robinson was a welter and Lamotta was a middle, does not count.
No you cant answer a simple questin either.
This like game set, match, checkmate, what ever you want to call it...
