This is a huge mistake on his part. Huge in terms of his legacy and it's all his and Arum's fault.
If Pacquiao shows any vulnerability against Margarito, he will get no credit before or after facing and beating Pacquiao. People will say he was already slipping and that's the only reason he fought him, etc. He better hope Pacquiao looks as invincible as he has in his last few fights.
Good thing he doesn't fight for legacy though.
True the danger is floyd waits too long for Pac. Well that may just be what Floyd wants. But it dont help his legacy that way. Why dont Floyd just fight people when they are at their best? Is it that hard?
Dont he get tired of fighting either, old fighters like SSM, or asking fighters to step up in weight. Its always one thing or another with floyd.
I heard it a few times before but this is the first article I have seen posted on here stating Roach and Pac said it in front of a reporter but yeah, there is too much drama in this fight to not think something is up. It either is never going to happen or the biggest circus act of all time by both sides.......I just like fluffing the Floyd fans feathers with some of the stuff I post man............I'd like to see the fight but if it never happens, I'll still be a boxing fan
I don't believe Floyd is scared of Pac.
He is scared of losing, especially to an Asian midget foreigner. How bad would that look in the hip-hop/black supremacist community?
He ain't scared of Pac. He's just protecting his street cred.
So you believe what Pac is saying in that article, yet dismiss all the other quotes he and team have said about 14 days? Remember the deadline, the big early morning saga they circused around live on the internet via Top Rank's website? They reiterated 14 days. Pac is a liar and I cant believe his fans arnt calling him out for this.
The article makes it seem as if they dropped the 14 day testing thing as a last resort to make the fight happen. With all the lying between the two parties, I have to admit, I don't know who is telling the truth about what. Both parties have said stuff that does not make sense but I can't go along with stuff like Pac doesn't want to fight because he is on roids, just because some boxers and Mayweather's dad are envious of his accomplishments.
It was like, Floyd can beat these guys by shutting them down with defense, yet Pac can't beat these guys by using a heavy offense so he must be cheating...that is my main gripe with the whole thing. If i had accomplished as much as Pac has and I knew I did it without cheating, I'd tell him to stuff the testing too..based on pride alone.
Maybe they never budged off the 14 day testing thing or maybe they did, but there are so many conflicting articles written on here all the time about the deal, it is like either you believe them all or take them all as lies because they all have a bias to them depending on who wrote it.
exactly, these critics have a hard time giving the champ his due. i cannot think of one fighter that would have beat Floyd, maybe the vernon forest that beat shane would have been interesting, but please name anyone else you would have put money on?
im collecting my money may memorabilia as i type this because i know it will be worth something in the future.
lols... typical flomo argument. floyd wins fantasy fights so he doesn't have to fight anyone.
Pacquiao took a risk by letting Floyd fight Shane who was considered by Freddie AND Bob Arum as being the better man.
Once Floyd weathered the storm against Shane, Team Pacquiao became eerily silent.
Bob never wanted anything to do with Floyd after Floyd left his stable to make history.
bwhahahahahahaha!!!! floyd not only ducked a fight with pac, he ducked the negotiations!!! he is ducking boxing and the media!
what a horrible mentality. dwyer just basically said what all fans were thinking. floyd wants pac to go through wars & get soften up before he gets to him.
Dwyer basically saying that floyd is better off cherrypicking pac once pac isn't prime anymore. that's the coward's way out.
That doesnt make sense. Its not like Pac has to fight, he can retire today and live comfortably. Another thing is he's already been through some wars so that has nothing to do with why they havent fought. The only reason is the random testing.
nope. the only reason is that floyd is a coward and wants nothing to do with pac.
He actually predicted margarito vs pacquiao before it happened and aslo gave reason as to why would floyd not fight pacquiao
dwyer just told us floyd's plan... wait for pac to be past his prime and then cherrypick him.
but he didnt retire. he came back. & fought a 36 year old career featherweight at welterweight. now they try to make a pac fight for the second time, he retires/vacation/not interested in boxing again. just like when he retired the first time with welter being the most loaded division in boxing.
i mean why do you choose to ignore these facts dom? its pretty simple to connect the dots. to see floyd's maneuvers.
Your gonna have a really REALLY hard time convincing me Floyd is actually scared of Pacquiao. I don't think any of these top elites are fearful of anyone, that includes Juanma not being fearful of Caballero despite lookin' like a bitch. I never bought into that stuff, honestly...I find that lame.
Instead we should look at facts, Mayweather made his demands clear and Pacquiao isn't willin' to accept them. That is all we have now.
I used to think you knew what you were talking about around these parts.
So, you are not hating on the guy for fighting Margs and blaming him for the Floyd fight not happening, meanwhile Floyd is off doing something else?

not according to the article posted in the thread "Pacquiao: Floyd needs me, I don't need Floyd"
let's be honest. floyd is scared sh!tless and wants nothing to do with pacquiao.
This is becoming so apparent now but people will still say it isn't so for whatever reason. Floyd has never, ever pulled this stuff before and all of a sudden.....bam, Mr. Excuses shows up! This fight won't take place, yet people will still hate on Pac for fighting other guys.....why hate him when the guy people want him to fight keeps coming up with reasons not to fight.
His own people tried to make the fight and Floyd refused....that was the disagreement that led to him leaving and trying to sign with someone else.
**edit: he has used the retiring thing before but not all this other stuff
Pacquiao ran through his last 2 opponents, of course it bothered him. I don't want to see them ruin the biggest fight since De La Hoya-Trinidad by fighting a Martinez or Williams TBH, so I don't want to see them fight anyone but each other until then.
Whoever loses Pacquiao-Mayweather will still be able to do 500K every time out and if it's against the best opponent out, you better believe 1M+.
You don't mind going through that back and forth again? Makes me sick thinking about it man :lol1:
it did. pac getting fighter of the decade was the last straw for floyd. there was even video of floyd complaining why pac got it & not him.
& of the day, floyd really messed up retiring after beating ricky.
when he retired, the welterweight division, his division since 2005, was the hottest, most loaded division in all of boxing. he had prime cotto, prime margarito, younger shane, berto, collazo, prime paul williams, clottey.
he chose to retire instead & pacquiao picked up the kingship & captivated boxing fans. floyd has nobody to blame but himself. he left the door open for pac.
Probably, probably not, I don't know. I don't hold it against anyone who retires. His life.

I'm sure the hype Pacquiao was gettin' really bothered him during his retirement. Wish he would stop acting like Pacquiao is the only option out there.

It wouldn't matter either way. Floyd just fought Shane Mosley 4 months ago, becoming The WW champ and today is called a coward. Floyd beats Pac and Martinez and it still won't matter. He'll get his praise 20 yrs from now, no time sooner. The posters in this thread were the exact same people that said Floyd wouldn't fight Shane. IRONY.

:lol1: The steroid allegations would definitely get louder from everyone, not only the Mayweather's.
If it were up to me, all the hype would be stripped from any Mayweather fight until he's ready to fight.
Nothing an attention whore hates more than being ignored.

If Pac looks invincible what makes you think floyd will man up?
Because styles make fights and he knows that. Only a fool would think that Pacquiao is actually invincible after destroying Margarito. Nobody's invincible.
if that happens, then Floyd goes back on vacation
:lol1: The steroid allegations would definitely get louder from everyone, not only the Mayweather's.
Yeah, I'm sort of leaning towards Pacquiao at this moment. Of course my opnion can quickly change depending on a few things. Doesn't matter though, I lost all hope for Mayweather-Pacquiao. I wish we as boxing fans would invest more hype on Mayweather facing Martinez or Paul Williams, those are also good opponents.
