Of course is an advantege especially if ur short.... Pac' especialty is trowing a lot of punches in a row to do that with tony he will have to go inside risking getting hit by bigger margo
If you use your height well I.e Lewis, Klitschko etc then yeah its a good advantage. The same can be said about shorter fighters, if you use you being shorter than your opponent well I.e Tyson, Fraizer etc then its a good advantage too. The difference is using it well and making it your advantage, some do some don't.
If you are have an extreme height advantage & your punching downwards to a small opponent rather then straight on, it can possibly affect your power etc & leave you more open with a counter, so it's not always an advantage.
Punching or kicking downward let's you generate more power.
That is why some baseball players pick up there leg and bring it down simultaneously with there swing. They're putting the weight of their body down on the swing. If you punch downward you're putting in more power than some one punching punching upward because all they can use is mostly there upper body to produce power. A tall person fighting tall can use the weight of their whole body.
Exactly. And not only that, but they also get dominated by smaller fighters such as Haye, Chambers and Chagaev. And they're not the only ones either. Guys like Paul Williams, Celestino Caballero, Chico, etc. are all tall, and they are certainly beatable.
Williams is notorious for giving up his height. Caballero and Chico never fought tall either.
Height is a big advantage if you actually use it.
If you know how to use your height then yes. Lewis and the Klitschko's are tall and they used that to their advantage by fighting straight and using their height.
Michael Grant just lost to Adamek cause he gave up his 6'7" height to the much shorter Adamek. If he fought tall he could have made it a closer fight.
it is an advantage, but not a "ultimate advantage" like people claim it is
for instance, some people say wlad is only good cause hes tall and big... hes 6f6...
yet what about dimentrinko (bigger than wladimir), valuev, and marcellus brown all 3 are taller than wlad, but wlad would dominate any 1 of them...
height is a good tool, but its not the only tool
