Maidana says that this time there should be no more excuses from the British fighter.
“So far and for the last whole year Amir Khan and his trainer Freddie Roach have made every possible excuse to avoid me. I thought there was no more tricks on their hat. But they are great at it an pulled a new rabbit by saying that I’m overpricing myself. All I want is a fair payday according to a unification bout as we have to determine who the absolute WBA champ is,” “El Chino” said.
“The English TV Sky wants the fight, HBO wants the fight, the fans and the media want the fight. I want the fight. Does Amir really want it? I doubt it,” he commented.

Maidana purposely fought that way to con Khan and Roach into making the fight happen.
I wanna believe that because it would be a smart thing to do, but he looked exhausted in those late rounds. I don't think he would purposely do that. And if he wanted to pretend to look bad, he wouldn't have given Corley more than 5 rounds. Nobody would purposely lose a fight like that, and I had him losing 112-115. I mean what if the judges decided to give the right man the nod? Then he would have been screwed. I know that's unlikely in a fighter's hometown, but you'll never know.

I was thinking about that.
I, too, think he sandbagged it. yes, boxers still do that nowadays.
