Chingas has me on ignore so i gotta go here. he is right. Can't fault Manny for taking big payday. But Chingas and all Pac fans should sh1t on him for taking big money instead of biggest challenge because you all **** onfloyd when he does it.
Yeah definitely not totally avoid tough fights we agree. But risks are always calculated. And when you are being chased rather than doing the chasing the risks are different. For example, take Manny. JMM and Floyd, lighter hitting boxers are IMO far bigger risks for him than stand up staright brawlers like Clottey and Marg even though they are bigger and presunmably hit harder.
They are bigger risks because they could make Manny look bad (hurting his marketability) by outboxing him which isn't manny' strength. On the otherhand, even if he gets KO'd by the big guys he will look good because he is much faster.
For me the risk isn't just health its financial as well.
good point but i'm not really talking about fighting styles and strategies...i'm talking about attitude. if a fighter avoids the best fight out there because he thinks it's too risky for him then that don't sit well for me as a boxing fan.
you know i'm not really saying that they should fight to punish themselves just so boxing fans can get entertained or something like that. but let's face it boxing is a brutal sports. beating up your opponent is the name the game. even non-fighters can get the parkinson's disease so what more if you're a fighter? it is what it is but it doesn't mean that these fighters should totally avoid the risks of fighting because risks is part of the sports. you don't want risks play chess or billiards maybe...but then you never get the kind of money that fighters get.

why is Tony fighting Pac?
because Floyd wasn't interested
blame Floyd
But they can't they have to fight as if its their job or else they wont be able to do their job. Their is no glory in being Meldrick Taylor or Joe Frazier or Ali. You may disagree but these are just a few examples of what this sport does to you.
When its over its over. These are not usually college educted men or even men who have gone to trade school. they have been fighting all their lives with little or no education to fall back on. They got families to feed, bills, mortgage.

oh yeah fighters before face more risks inside the ring. they fight more rounds, they wear smaller gloves and they fight more often within a year but they are not as demanding as today's fighters. boxing for sure has evolve for the worse...and so are boxing fans. it's just unfortunate to see a poster saying fighters should not fight for the fans.

See I dont think it was this way before. I think the big fights were the only way to make big money. But that dynamic started to change when you saw ali spinks, leonard lalonde, holmes cooney. You could use other social factors to make one sided blowouts(on paper at least) into huge events.
I mean holmes cooney was his biggest grossing fight. Just goes to show you what Americans will pay money for.

that's why i said i still want to believe they should fight for pride and glory because that's the scenario where we as boxing fans can get the best matchups. unfortunately that is not the situation anymore because we the boxing fans are allowing it to happen. a lot of fighters nowadays are too businessminded because they still got the support of the fans.

When you are making $20 - $25 mil a fight it aint glory. There are really successful businesses with 50 employees that don't make that in a year. Its a whole new game nowadays.
I mean how do you explain glenn johnson and thomas adamek making less than JCC jr. and Saul Alvarez? Its not the boxing game we fell in love with anymore.

This is where you aint being real. I mean about me as a poster. I call floyd on the BS when I think its BS. I mean I'm one of the few who thinks manny isn't on PED's.
alright then, it's just that for me you are overreacting sometimes. if somebody got you on ignore just let it go.
if all fans are as stupid as you who will take whatever bull$hit they try to shove in your ass then surely fighters will not fight for the fans. even if you say boxing is business still the fans should matter. in the first place what do businessmen do business for? to make money right? but how do you make money out of business? one word...customers...and when you say customers you have to satisfy them. in other words, businessmen do business to satisfy their customers in order to make money. once your customer are no longer satisfied your business will fall. as the saying goes "customer is always right. customers are the boss.
the same is true with boxing...if indeed fighters fight for business, they should fight to satisfy the boxing fans in order for them to make money. but if boxing fans are blind fanatics like you fighters will just ignore your satisfaction.
as a boxing fan though, i still wanna believe that boxing should first fight for pride and glory...business second.

I've said this same thing many times on here. These guys, the top dogs of the sport, are all the same. The fact that Floyd is (much) more vocal about it, is what gets people so tilted. Anyone who thinks that Pacquiao isn't thinking 'money first' is kidding themselves.
agree. thats why manny wanted a 50/50 split, even though i don't think he deserves it.
Every fighter foghts more money. Pac is damn sure no exception to that rule.
No one fights for the fans.

Why are you on his ignore?
Because he put up something about the ages of floyd and manny's opponents and I responded by pointing out over 30 is the same whether its 38 or 31. he accused me of trying to twist his words so he put me on ignore.
Yet dudes call hima fa99ot and he debates them.
it's you who doesn't have a good grasp of reality. you're a floyd fan and they are pac fans so it's just normal that you have different opinions especially when it comes to floyd and pac. for as long as that fight does not happen this forum will always be chaotic because of obsessed fans like you and them.

this is the truth behind the matter floyd says, "i fight for money". While manny hides behind arum and koncz and says, "i fight for fans as long as it isnt ****ing up my money". its about time we start understanding whats really going on here...all of them are just well paid athletes who care about their bottom line more than they do any fan. As Joe Buddens said "im only human, i aint to be worshipped. im only human, i aint perfect". true story for all fans to accept.

Thats the big difference. Pac sells himself as this humble dude and then can't understand why he is making 50% of what floyd makes. Its because floyd (who I met and was real cool) was doing the same stuff but wasn't getting paid. So he ran with the "Money May" act and got CRAZY paid because he started entertaining outside the ring not just in it.
This is where you aint being real. When they were talking this floyd martinexz 155 BS I was all on it. And, you and I have debated this many times, you know if I'm manny i'm taking the $22.5 mil EVERY time.
I'm just asking pac fans to move away from the Manny is a humble honorable guy who fights for the fans BUllsh1t bricky.
he is no different then floyd except how they act. At least floyd is honest about making only money fights at this stage of his career.
