Yeah definitely not totally avoid tough fights we agree. But risks are always calculated. And when you are being chased rather than doing the chasing the risks are different. For example, take Manny. JMM and Floyd, lighter hitting boxers are IMO far bigger risks for him than stand up staright brawlers like Clottey and Marg even though they are bigger and presunmably hit harder. They are bigger risks because they could make Manny look bad (hurting his marketability) by outboxing him which isn't manny' strength. On the otherhand, even if he gets KO'd by the big guys he will look good because he is much faster. For me the risk isn't just health its financial as well. good point but i'm not really talking about fighting styles and strategies...i'm talking about attitude. if a fighter avoids the best fight out there because he thinks it's too risky for him then that don't sit well for me as a boxing fan.

you know i'm not really saying that they should fight to punish themselves just so boxing fans can get entertained or something like that. but let's face it boxing is a brutal sports. beating up your opponent is the name the game. even non-fighters can get the parkinson's disease so what more if you're a fighter? it is what it is but it doesn't mean that these fighters should totally avoid the risks of fighting because risks is part of the sports. you don't want risks play chess or billiards maybe...but then you never get the kind of money that fighters get. See I dont think it was this way before. I think the big fights were the only way to make big money. But that dynamic started to change when you saw ali spinks, leonard lalonde, holmes cooney. You could use other social factors to make one sided blowouts(on paper at least) into huge events. I mean holmes cooney was his biggest grossing fight. When you are making $20 - $25 mil a fight it aint glory. There are really successful businesses with 50 employees that don't make that in a year. Its a whole new game nowadays. I mean how do you explain glenn johnson and thomas adamek making less than JCC jr. and Saul Alvarez? this is the truth behind the matter floyd says, "i fight for money". While manny hides behind arum and koncz and says, "i fight for fans as long as it isnt ****ing up my money". its about time we start understanding whats really going on here...all of them are just well paid athletes who care about their bottom line more than they do any fan.
