Pacquiao chose to fight Margarito. From a business standpoint, it was the right move. But it proves that Pacquiao’s ethics are as questionable as Margarito’s. Why allow Margarito, who, I might add, was completely torn apart by Mosley after the advantage was removed from his wraps, to make that kind of money? When you sleep with dogs, you get fleas and Philippines congressman Pacquiao is flea-infested at the moment.
Never was there a thought of doing the right thing, of setting a good example for the people in his boxing-mad country and refusing to fight an obvious cheater. Instead, Pacquiao grabbed for the money and didn’t care if he rewarded Margarito handsomely in the process. Pacquiao is as despicable as the rest of the bunch.

This fight is making manny look bad and that's why I did not want manny to deal with margrito.
It's funny how people seem to forget that Pac wanted to fight Margarito way back when he'd just defeated ODH, back when Marg was still this unstoppable punching machine and hadn't been KO'd by Mosley yet or found to be cheating.
but tony isnt that same guy. so you adjust and change.

there is a different standard for media.
everybody thinks jeff dahmer is despicable but should they not report on it?
should they report on osama bin laden?
for media reporting is not supporting. you have to cover the news in your business.
That is your stand I guess. But to me, it is no different when principle is involved. Media, IMO, gets away with a lot with that freedom of the press. But IMO, it is often abused. Media is very powerful and should also be held in the same standards when principles are involved.
If he will report about Pac after the fight but the contents are not about the fight but the politics behind, then that is consistent with this "despicable" premise. I don't mind this article at all. In fact find it good and consistent.
You can apply this to the Osama bin laden part. They find him despicable hence they are going to write everything ****ty about him... which is consistent. :D
What,s crazy is even their teams know this, and the only reason Shaw is so vocal is because he wants to cash out at the expense of Tim Bradley.
manny and floyd are in there 30s now and they started at low weights.
they are natural featherweights or sfw. floyd had most his fights at sfw and those guys get old by 33 or 34. that is why everybody wants to fight them now because they know manny or floyd could get old over night. and then leave the sport.
margrito was suspended and did not do anything positive for more than two years. you guys can keep making excuses and that is fine.
i think that there are about seven fights better than margrito.
pacquiao-bradley is a more honorable fight than pacquiao-margrito. period.
that is how i feel
/
tyson fouled. he did not cheat and there is a difference.
you guys are making excuses for it and that is fine
williams is too skinny
martinez is too good looking
marquez drinks too much pee
alexander is too green
bradley looks too much like a turtle
berto is too haitian
mosley is too old.
once arum picked margrito i see many fans making excuses. it is ok.
you say that berto has only beat one good fighter in the past two years so i ask you what good fighters margarito has beat in the past two years.
First of all
I want to see the Williams fight, I have mentioned this before. Also I want to see Marquez vs Pacquiao 3 but I have to realistic as do others. Manny is not going to 135 for Marquez, then back to 147 to face Floyd. Fighting Marquez at any weight above 135 is robbing this fight of any meaning he will have.
When I brought up Berto, I was referring to his stay at WW. He has had every opportunity to challenge himself but hasn't. He'd rather pick on JWW and when he finally got an opportunity to face a legit guy at that weight....he turned it down and took the money.
So how is he more deserving than Margarito when Tony took on everyone he could and fought some of the best at that weight class? Tony was suspended so he didn't have an opportunity, while Berto did and basically wasted his shot at positioning himself for a big money fight.
I guess I have never brought this up with you before because you obviously don't see why I'm against Pac vs Alexander or Pac vs Bradley in Nov. First of all, I would like to see those fights as well, but the problem is both guys are improving and I want Manny to fight them at their best.
I truly believe one of them will be streaking sometime next year, and that is when a fight with them should happen.....when they are peaking. It's the same thing with Khan and Mayweather. That could be a great fight also, but Khan needs a few more fights because he is still improving as well.
What,s crazy is even their teams know this, and the only reason Shaw is so vocal is because he wants to cash out at the expense of Tim Bradley.
@Gino Ros
Man I don't like the catchweight at all....never have, I just never brought up my feelings about it on NSB.
With that said, what's so bad about fighting Margarito? There have been fighters who have done worse things than him, and to top it off Lennox Lewis, HBO, Showtime and a lot of other big players in boxing went from commision to commission after Tyson was denied.....so they could make the fight happen.
I just don't get whats so bad about Margarito as an opponent selection. I know a lot of people will bring up Marquez but the only way that is a fair fight is if its at 135. That will not happen for obvious reasons.
Then some bring up Berto as being more deserving. How so when he has been a champ for 2 years and has only beaten one good fighter....while trying to cherry pick on JWW's.
Devon is too green. This is pretty obviously
The only other person I could see is Bradley but again Margarito is more accomplished than him and is a better fighter than him at 147 and above.

Hmm. I believe not. Are we going to factor money involved in matters of principle. If he find it despicable, then don't support it.
.

that is a bad bad bad comparison.
if iole refuse to report of the fight he could get fired.
if manny refuse to fight magrito he could fight ten other guys and make as much money.
bad logic.
Hmm. I believe not. Are we going to factor money involved in matters of principle. If he find it despicable, then don't support it.
As with pac's case that he could fight ten other guys, Iole could always get a new job and probably get a better one. How many times did you refuse your boss on matter of principle? I have several times and got no worse. You are Pinoy and you know the job insecurity here. Factor I have 2 kids less than 3 years old and my situation was no less than that of Iole.
the COMMISSION (all five) has control.
the COMMISSIONER - individual - has power and influence only.
that is what i'm saying
The commission needs all 5 votes, without 1 vote there is no authority so each individual controls the commission. I have no idea how this got here. :lol1:
We'll just agree to disagree, this has gotten waaaay off topic.
Of course they have influence and control, without that, their votes wouldn't have any bearing on anything. There wouldn't even be a commission if they had no control.

there are five commissioners in the commission.
each have power and influence. but no CONTROL.
we agree?

he has power and influence. he had no CONTROL. there is a difference.
manny is still the second most powerful boxer in the sport because money is power.
there are five commissioners in the commission.
each have power and influence. but no CONTROL.
we agree?
That just proves that certain people can have influence and power in a certain area but don't have influence and power in another, which is basically my point, Pacquiao had no power or influence over the Nevada commission.
he has power and influence. he had no CONTROL. there is a difference.
manny is still the second most powerful boxer in the sport because money is power.
if manny is against it on principle then why would he fight floyd
if you are against the testing you are ahgainst the testing. you are not against the testing for 90 dollars but ok with it for 100 dollars.
that is greedy AND hypocrite
example: floyd wants to fight marquez and says marquez has a whole country behind him. true. but he doesnt fight margrito and margrito has the same country behind him. that is hypocrite and greed because you can make more with marquez.
just tell the truth and dont make excuse. right now manny and floyd act the same.
I said at the time, he's agreed to Mayweather's demands now. Yes they act the same more than people care to admit, they're both egotistical and greedy. And I don't believe Pacquiao's purse increased when he agreed to Mayweather's demands.
because you are powerful does not mean you get your way ALWAYS.
obama is powerful and he is from chicago. he try to get olympics to chicago. the olympics go to brazil.
is obama still powerful?
but he try to use his power to influence a decision.
That just proves that certain people can have influence and power in a certain area but don't have influence and power in another, which is basically my point, Pacquiao had no power or influence over the Nevada commission.
But they ended up not giving Margarito a license. So what power did Pacquiao have over the commission?

Well it wasn't the first time Marquez or Beristain has made ridiculous financial demands and not budge on them and didn't Schaefer say that anytime Pacquiao negotiates with a GBP fighter he will be insisting on random blood testing? So why should Pacquiao negotiate with them when he was against it at the time?
if manny is against it on principle then why would he fight floyd

you dont think manny has power in nevada.
they are all about money and manny bring the second most money.
when they went to commission koncz told them you will lose tourist and money.
its ok. i respect your view.
But they ended up not giving Margarito a license. So what power did Pacquiao have over the commission?
