If Mora beats Mosley, does that ruin Mayweather Jr.'s win over Mosley or was it that Floyd ruined Mosley and that Mosley's age wasn't a factor at all?
Mosley has been ruined for years. Forrest and Wright showed that Mosley is set in his ways and can't even adapt his style for a rematch. Shane needs to hang em up.
Good points about the training camps - i cant argue. what you said makes sense :boxing: i'll admit i was wrong there
im not making excuses for why he lost, floyd beat him fair and square and would probably beat a prime mosley too - i just think shane would do better in a rematch, like he did against winky and vernon? surely you can see why im saying that?
or maybe i'm just too big a fan lol
that was a VERY civil response for these parts. much respect.
i do think that mosley would give a much better representation of who he is as a fighter this time around.
when faced with something he can't solve, he seems to freeze up and fall back the rest of the fight but, in the rematches, gets a bit of a "do-over" against fighters who always fight basically the same. mayweather won't.
aggression does win rounds against mayweather, especially on harold lederman's card, so i'm 100% sure he could win more than 1 or 2 rounds if he just brawled.
Till this day I find something fishy with that fight. How do u nearly decapitate your opponent in the second round, then forget how to fight there on after. Yes Floyd made adjustments, but not to the extent where Mosley should have completely stopped throwing punches the way he did.
you sound like a big fan. a whole post filled with bias. EPO was one of the drugs mosley was reported to have used. it does help with stamina.
he has danced around the subject but shane has never said he overtrained in any interview i've watched. i believe the lastest excuse was that his neck got stiff and he couldn't throw punches like he wanted.
the haitian earthquake was on the 12th of january. his fight with berto was canceled soon after, presumably, in the final stages of his training camp. with no opponent, he's allowed to take in easy in the gym (they say he's a gym rat) as the mayweather-pacquiao negotiations falter.
mayweather waits for pacquiao to announce his opponent before he begins searching for his own. allowing about 3 months of training camp, he picks mosley about the end of january/ beginning of february. it was said he turned around and got right back in the gym after the fight was signed so that would be sometime after his fight with berto was suppose to occur.
the overtraining excuse is hard to swallow because (1) neither shane mosley, nor his camp, have used it, (2) there has been no definite time table given for his training camps and (3) he was at the point of peak fitness/ winding down for the berto fight, reportedly stop training when it was canceled and had a good amount of time to rest before it was revealed that mayweather wanted to fight him at that time. so his fights would have been in january (1), may (5) and september (9). all around four months apart (the berto fight would have been later in january) but all allowing a complete camp.
ring rust? great fighters find a way to win, no? i thought mayweather actually looked sharper, defensively, after his LONG layoff in that jmm fight. it was his offense, which he isn't known for, which was off and people still said he should have knocked jmm out.
same situation here. shane spent months telling us how floyd knew what the deal was. how he was stronger and faster and etc., etc. yet all you have to show for it is one round and a right hand that won't land in a rematch.
people say it's hard "defending" floyd. you don't have to defend a winner as the numbers speak for themselves. it's you shane mosley fans that have it rough. losers have to find a reason why and, when a suitable one isn't given, his fans make one for him. and...draw? winky wright beat his butt that second time, too. mosley tried to flurry his way to a victory and they gave him a gift split decision.
floyd's fighting style is counter-punching and we now know that floyd, at least, punches hard enough to back mosley up. a more aggressive mosley just gets his ass beat another way. presumably, worse this time.
Dude get real. ssm is a talented fghter, no doubt at all. Has the rare combo of speed and power. But, he is one of the dumbest fighters I have ever seen. He came up bashing the typical mexican style, machismo fire fights. Each time he faced a fighter who didnt defend with their face, he lost.
And do u think a trainer like nasim would allow his fighter to overtrain? This fight took so many years to happen for a reason. its obvious who avoided who. ssm cant box. he can fight but he aint no boxer. he lost becuz he is the inferior fighter oh and a fraud. I knw u love the guy and all but stop acting like these pacq/money fans. Get real.
Thank you................Unlimited green on the way.

I agree. He has all the physical attributes but just doesn't have it up top to beat the very very best.
Pointless rematch imo. It would go the exact same way as the first fight. Shane shakes his hands like he got parkinsons, throws a bomb which Floyd see's coming and counters easy. Or Shane shakes his hands and while thinking about how to land, Floyds landed, weaved and avoided the punch that Shane was thinking about.....
it seems like mommy and daddy failed to school some of you about the jewels of life....one jewel is, EVERYTHING happens for a reason....Shane's load was blown after the 2nd round....why?.....did any of the Einsteins here ever think that he could've over-trained?!?.....he was supposed to fight Berto and we all know the story from there....back to back camps can cause for a fighter to perform the way Shane did on May 1st.....but the Mosley fans are a minority around here and you can find at least 10 Floyd fans in ANY thread with at least 20-25 replies :lol1:.....dont confuse excuse for fact, kids tend to make that mistake alot.....a rusty over-trained Shane Mosley ALMOST knocked a well trained Floyd Mayweather the fukk out in 2.....yea, a RUSTY OVER-TRAINED Shane......still gotta give Floyd his props tho, he manned up and bought the fight right to Shane after he got rocked....I was impressed but I also know Shane had NOTHING to offer after the 2nd round.....if we could see it, then Floyd must've seen it as well because he was in the ring with him.....the fight went like Nazim said it would go.....Shane punched him in the mouth and the dragon start spittin out fireballs :lol1:

I don't know if he should fight May again..I would like too see him get past Mora then fight a Cotto or Chavez or Angulo..Then TBH retire Mosley you've done enough.TBH same goes for Pac and May fight each other then call it a wrap let the young guns come up...
If Mosley went at Floyd more aggressive like he says he would he would get stopped by the ref I am sure. Shane thinks he could have got the knockout but to be honest the way Floyd dominated him showed that any KO victory for Shane would be a fluke and Mayweather is just above his league skillswise and without a KO, Shane gets beaten comfortably....just like in his rematches with Vernon and Winky.
Cotto is who he should be rematching
You read it wrong Mark. He wants a rematch of the 2nd round again!! Just Kidding
The only thing his fight with Floyd proved to me is that he is old and he lost his edge. He was not competitive at all. All he had was two good punches in a 5 second window.
how old can he be? he destroyed margarito last year and now many people are saying that margarito can beat manny.
if a old mosley destroyed margarito then manny shld not fight margarito
GTFOH
Lack of steroids doesn't tire out an ATHLETE in 2 rounds (and nothing happened in the first round). However being overtrained and ring rust can do
EXACTLY. I think shane would do a hell of a lot better in a rematch. i mean look at the rematches with Wright and Forrest - he fought very well, and arguably could have gotten a draw. and those two have much better jabs than Floyd.
If Shane looks good we'll have idiots saying it was Floyds briliance or Mosley is on steroids again. I mean look at the facts, two back to back training camps and a 18 month layoff - were you really expecting the same guy who came out against marg?
I'd love a rematch, much better than Floyd-Berto or something on that level
