Surely Pacquiao is top 10/20 greatest fighters of all time

Sugar Ray Leonard barely made top 30 even after a few years of his retirement. But he has been inching upwards ever since, sometimes making it to number 8 on some people's lists. After people saw JCC, Roy Jones, Whitaker, Holyfield, they realized how good he really was. The people who under-appreciated him when he was still active regretted how ungrateful they were for having had the privilege of watching him live. Duran was a different story. He was already ranked equal to Benny Leonard as one of the two greatest lightweights ever even before fighting Leonard and the others. He was forgiven for his losses at the higher weights because he wasn't supposed to be fighting people that big. Pacquiao is the first person since Duran who is already a Bruce Lee like legend even though he is still active. Roy Jones, Emmanuel Steward, and Al Bernstein already have him in their top 5. Sugar already had had Pacquiao in his top 15 even before Cotto. Pacquiao will be top 5 for sure after all the dust has settled and all of the hype has died down over a decade from now. People in the future will talk about the "good ol' Pacquiao days" with their grand kids. And if there is another Pacquiao 2 decades from now the old timers then (that's us) will defend Pacquiao like the Joe Louis fans defended Joe against Marciano, Ali, and Tyson. Plus, Pacquiao has the internet buzz machine. Something the other all time greats didn't have. The "Pactards" will still be alive and kicking 30 years from now to keep the Pacquiao dream alive. An no, they are not all Filipinos. Pacquiao will be to boxing what Ronald Reagan is to today's Republicans. He will be lovingly remembered. The Flomos are just a fad and they will abandon Floyd in as little as 3 years after his retirement. REad mine!! We both agree with Pac in the top 5 now!!! When Pac planned to assault the Feather weight and SFW legends of MAB, EM & JMM, Many doubt if he could achieved it. Winning against them makes him the Greatest Asian Fighter of all time. When the DLH assault were Planned almost all of you never believed he could beat him. Many thought Pac was only fighting DLH for the money. After Pac get DLH the beatdown of his life, haters start to devalued Pac's achievements. bUt Boxing HOFamer writers like Bert Sugar were there to declared that Pac just entered top 15 in the ATG list. After Pac just dominate and KOed Hatton and Cotto, everything is just icing on the cake. No way Pac can be lower than Top 10 ATG. He Holds too many Boxing records. The Most In Lineal Championship.Record Champ in 7 weight classes, The Fighter of the Decade, 3 time FOTY and maybe more. Pac just need Floyd's Head to be declared the Greatest of All Time!! As of now, Pac's should be in at least the top 5 ATGs!!

The more time will go bye the higher he will be ranked. People will forget which fighter he beat and in which stage of their carrer he beat them and they'll just see a 7 divison world champ. If Amstrong would have beating Ceferino Garcia for a MW title....no one would care that Homecide Hank already beat him decisively when they were WW's. Also no one cares that Roy beat arguable one of the worst HW champion in the history of the sport (John Ruiz)....just that Roy went up and captured the HW title to make history.

Right now, the people wont consider Pacman to be on the top 10 or 20 ATG list, but I guarantee you that 10-20 years from now, he will be.

For him to be top 20 he would of had to have a longer and successful campaign at 135, 140, and yes even 147, still alot of competition there, hes just stackin belts, but i will say this, I rank him over Floyd regardless of the outcome of their fight(if it happens). Its just a Pacquiao high, when he retires we can talk about it more seriously. The lack of title defenses from 130 -147 should be noted. The only title defense made was against Josh Clottey, who was a fighter that deserved a title shot (at that time). Its always harder to defend a title then it is to win.

Naw, I forgot the exact number but it is like 14 or 15. What made them better fighters in your opinion? So you going more of skills than greatness. If you had to rank ATG's would you put them ahead of Pac? I mean a couple maybe all 3 would not be in some top 100 ATG list. While Pac in more so are in the top 50 ATG list. And, clearly top 100. I think you are wrong about Monzon. I tend not to do ATG lists because its so hard for me to balance the era's. Like I was saying to Copeland. They exhibited more skills both offense and defense than Manny. Greatness is just too hard to quantify. Like Manny for instance. Most experts rank him ahead of floyd but admit they would pick floyd to win. Or like Roy Jones, who dominated so many fighters so easy that people decided his comp couldn't have been that good.

you kinda lost me at "ped user or not". the simple fact is he's never been caught or involved with steroids or PEDs. In what would've been the biggest fight of his career at that point, when he fought Morales 1, he gave a blood sample 2 days before the Morales fight. Of course they had to have tested it for PED's, EPO, HGH, the works, right? Not a hint of cheating was ever found. He believed giving blood weakened him, fine. He wasn't wearing his Reyes puncher gloves...fine. What actually made him lose was a huge gash over his eye (from an accidental headbutt) which caused him to dial back his aggression and fight going backwards while avoiding shots. Thus, he lost. He simply couldn't box while backpedaling and lost that fight (he's a pressure fighter). But from accomplishments alone, Manny surely has achieved greatness. The simple fact is nobody ever gave a thought of him fighting at Welterweight. Then he makes DLH quit, having never weighed-in over 140lbs. Then he knocked out Ricky Hatton @ 140lbs...someone people thought was too heavy for him. Then Miguel Cotto....and Manny took the puerto rican's shots as if he were a lightweight. Yeah they fought at 145, but Cotto said it wasn't too difficult to make the weight. Cotto - "This is the best condition I have ever been. 100% I will be ready for this fight as I have been for all my fights. I feel stronger and faster at this weight,” Pacquiao told David Tyler of ****.com. “When we took this fight, we decided that we were fine with 145. We knew we could do it and we knew we would be at our best the next night,” he told ****.com. Again....many experts and historians thought Manny Pacquiao had no business fighting over 140lbs. He only rehydrated to about 146-148...which is a stark contrast to fighters who rehydrate almost 10-15 lbs for a fight. Point is....Manny Pacquiao....as raw and one-handed as he was...beat guys he had no business even fighting. Morales and Barrera were on a decline....but they were ELITE fighters. They're living legends. JMM was in his absolute prime and took Pac to school...and he arguably still won, citing a Judge's scoring error. Anyone who discredits this man is a moron, plain and simple. Manny Pacquiao has achieved greatness. Top 10 or 20, I don't care where u put him, that's for people to argue. But he deserved his FOTD award, and he deserves at least an honorable mention among the top 20 ATG's. Sorry to say that there's a lot of Morons here!!! Most are Floyd Fans.

Monzon did not have 19 title defenses. But, is nothing wrong with putting Monzon ahead of Pac. That is 2 ATG fighters. And, I am not even questioning putting Floyd or Roy ahead of Pac. Since that might just be a preference or whatever. But, I cant see how Pryor, Toney, and Nelson can be put ahead of Pac in the ATG status without bias. How many did he have 20? For example, carlos Monzon I didn't list but he had 19 title defenses. Manny, has gone to different divisions but hasn't defended any title from 130 except once vs Clottey. Has Manny fought in that manny title fights period? The point is it fair to penalize Monzon because god/allah/jehova (whoever you believe in) he could stay at 160 his whole life? Pryor? Interesting. I would say ATG wise, Pac ranks clearly higher than Nelson, Toney, and Pryor, And, IMO higher than Jones and Floyd.
