Ward is just the more smarter and well prepared fighter.
Look if Dirrell struggled to win big against Carl Froch or Abraham, how can he cope with the most mentally conditioned guy in the tourney.
Plus the kid can't pull the trigger, he's gonna get beaten up by Ward - trust!
I think the majority of Dirrell's problem in the Froch fight was the fact that Ricky Hatton is the only person allowed to clinch excessively in the UK.

I disagree, although he might have "struggled" against Froch; Dirrell fought a disciplined fight against Abraham (arguably the favorite to win super six before this fight). If anything Dirrell was very focused and fought an intelligent fight.
Furthermore, Abraham is an intelligent boxer with patience and precision. That being said, I believe Dirrell will be able to handle a "mentally" conditioned fighter.
What do you mean he "can't pull the trigger"??? If you think Dirrell can't deliver based on the Froch fight? Then you are mistaken, I see that as a learning experience. The end result of that was the Abraham fight. My point is...Dirrell, when properly motivated he can handle his business.
The disclaimer I have to put out here though....Dirrell and Ward are buddies...this might be the ONLY problem....Dirrell and/or Ward might not engage...that would suck too.
Who R U picking? and no im not richard shaefer lol
Predictions and why you think so
here's mine...
Your 1st mistake is saying Dirrell is one of your favorite fighters......
And although i like Ward, i think Dirrell will box him to a Dec Win......it's gonna be a boring ass fight, they're gonna show eachother too much respect and put everyone to sleep...
Dirrell also has a habit of backing straight up with his chin in the air. I like both fighters, but I think Ward wins. I don't think Andre Dirrell matches up with SOG well defensively.
Good point. However, I don't think Ward hasn't fought someone as technical as he is, or offensively sound as he is.
I do agree that Dirrell is vunerable, IMO I don't think that was too much of a problem (moving backwards). Furthermore, I saw much more improvement with his lateral movement against Abraham.
Later.
Conclusion
Dirrell will be too elusive with good foot movement, too quick with his punches, and busier with the jab that will keep Ward honest. Dirrell scrap with A.A and Froch are more telling than Wards wins over Kessler and Green. That being said Dirrell has faced a serious threat in Abraham that can land that one punch and it's all over. Dirrell faced Froch a fighter with decent boxing ability that roughed up Dirrell. Although Froch won, many believe the fight was a toss up. I truly believe Dirrell has gained alot of perspective from those two fights alone. Not to say Ward is Froch or Abraham, but the glaring truth of the matter is, Dirrell has been tested.
I just wanted to continue my thought...
later!
Peace.

I got Ward.
This fight will go in a very similar way to Mayweather vs Judah.
Ward isn't going to box, he's going to make a fight out of it. Hound Dirrell down like a dog - it's the only way to beat a good boxer.
8 - 4 to Ward. Dirrell taking close opening rounds but Ward wins UD.
I agree. Spot on prediction, sir!

IDK Bruh, I think there even when it comes to quickness an speed, both hav great relexes, the difference is Ward can surstain that elusivness where as Dirrell get tired an slips up that wat happen in both fights, he was gettn caught in the later rounds.
Overall - Ward and Dirrell is a Boxer's Classic!!! A physical chess match that will be the fight everyone talks about for the remainder of the tournament!
What do they gain?
Ward/Dirrell- I've combined both fighters simply because they are two promising stars achieving the rights for one spot! Who is the better "boxer"??? Both have accomplished a great deal, and have much to gain from this fight alone, and for the remainder of the tournament. Although they are in a similar situation, Dirrell proves to lose more if he loses to Ward. The theory is simple, one (debatable) loss to Froch plus the loss to Ward might dictate his ranking amongst the other within the tournament and/or other prospective match ups. Ward losing to Dirrell may not be as devastating, as Ward is leading the pack one loss isn't a "setback"...it's more of a learning experience.
Quick Break down
Ward
Ward must cut the ring. No if ands or buts. Dirrell has the better legs, and to take that movement away one would have to capture the more elusive boxer (Dirrell). Once Dirrell is in Ward's range; Ward should capitalize and go to the body, and take advantage of Dirrell while sliding out. Ward should tie Dirrell up and keep this fight close tight and physical.
Dirrell
Dirrell must stay moving and jabbing, Dirrell will have to move laterally. He must refrain from standing still for long periods of time. This will allow Ward to come straight in and try to tie up the leaner fighter (Dirrell). An inside fight would be a Ward fight, however to deter the "Ward Rush" Dirrell should time his punches and catch Ward with uppercuts and hooks. Dirrell should be able to Ward off Ward if he establishes his jab early and continue to punch in angles where Ward would remain "unsettled" (that is Ward will not be able to set his punches)
Conclusion
Dirrell will be too elusive with good foot movement, too quick with his punches, and busier with the jab that will be key to winning a UD over Ward.
Peace.
Great breakdown i agree with everything you said, we have the same prediction too

In my opinion,Direll has slightly better skill, but Ward is the all around better fighter,so I say Ward ud!!
I dont think he's the better fighter, I think Dirrell is more flashy then anything.
Ward! I think Ward is the better fighter and has way better def an ring IQ then Dirrell. Dirrell is very inconsistant in rounds an leaves himself open especially in the later rounds, plus Dirrell gets gased in the later rounds as well. Dirrell relys on his speed an quickness to get him out of dangerous situations but his speed/quickness cant help him this fight cause there both about the same speed.
