Come on now, stop making excuse for him. He was fine until Maidana started getting him with solid punches, then he realized that Maidana was serious. That's when he started backing up, and if you look at the replay he was *****ing before the doctor even looked at him, that's a sucka move.
I can't wait to see what he's gonna do against another top 5 jr ww, he's gonna get trashed, I can't wait.
what do u dont make excuses fir him, thats what ortiz said! question have u ever been in the ring? if so have u ever gotten rocked and couldnt remember sh*t? cause thats exactly what happened to him.

He'll be better prepared. He likely let stardom get to his head so when he fought Maidana he didn't expect it to be a war.
The same would happen if you were in a fight with someone you fought couldn't touch you. If they hit you pretty hard, you'd be in a state of panic. If you know the individual is capable of you, then you will know what to do when you're hurt.
ortiz doesnt even remember sayin that post fight interview. when he got back to the locker room he thought he had been ko'd in the first round so the other 4 rounds he fought, he was on auto pilot. so he actually did show heart in this fight.

most people on this forum arent even qualified to talk sh*t because they never stepped in the ring in there life. if u fight then u can talk sh*t, if u dont fight go eat some m&m's somewhere.
ortiz was extemly worst..showed absolutly no heart and his post fight interview made it worse

That's my favorite boxer all-time (well, he and Pryor pass it around), I donate to his Foundation, I don't need to be shown what happened to him...how is that germane to the severity of Vazquez' broken nose? (look at the very irregular swelling up between his eyes at the top of his nose if you want a hint at the unusual extremity of the injury)
I'd be surprised if you couldn't work out for yourself which retirement "the public" (or the boxingscene public) would deem worse.
I don't care. Call me belligerent on this. Vazquez doesn't belong in any thread with the word "quit".
Read the link genius. I made this thread in response to Vazquez being called a quitter not to call him one myself. Also if you'd read the comments in this thread Vazquez gets a pass more from his other fights where hes shown heart not because of his broken nose so maybe your assumptions on what the public feels should be reevaluated. Since GMan is your favorite how can you say quitting over a broken nose is more acceptable than quitting to avoid damage like GMan took?
http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251776&highlight=vazquez+quitter
That was actually the thread that made me make this thread. I think Vazquez is a true warrior it just seems like he got the same treatment for quitting as Ortiz did.
Its apparent your reading comprehension is lacking a little Rage so I'll break it down for you. I dont think Vazquez is a quitter, but he received criticism for being a quitter so i wanted to see what the public perception was. And as for your quote about his nose being broke I'll show you what happens when fighters continue to take punishment and it means much more than an article about a broken nose.http://www.boxingfancast.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Middle-weight-Magic.jpg
Victor was taking flush shot after flush shot from P4P one of the hardest punchers in the world
Its in his best interest to stop things before its too late, dude can get brain damage from an opponent like that
Ortiz will be a great champ
Vazquez nose was broken and he couldn't breathe. Ortiz still had a shot at winning the fight.
Anyone who says Vazquez doesn't have heart has not followed his career at all. Ortiz still looks like he doesn't have it even in his recent fights.
Ortiz' quit wasnt as bad as people make it out to be.
He was getting pummelled and there was nothing he could do about it. He went down had a bad cut and bruised up face what would the point be to continue just to get beat more?
Its not the same imo.
Vazquez had already proven his mettle by that point and for him to quit like he did only proved that Rafa did serious damage to his nose.
I don't think anyone held that against him because of his history of Warriorness.
Ortiz on the other hand had no history of toughness to fall back on, he failed his first test at the hands of the most Dangerous Man at 140.
Marcos "El Chino" Maidana.
No racist.
Not true, I know some dickheads on here must've questioned it and Vazquez himself was ridiculed by Mexicans, which put the chip on his shoulder where he felt he had to prove his mettle for the remaining fights.
Vazquez' nose was broken prior to when he quit, he fought a couple rounds with the broken nose before he decided to comeback another day.
If you wanted to prove Ortiz could still come back, Duran would've been a better comparison for quitting... Then again, Duran had already established himself as 1 of the best lightweights ever and #1 P4P for years before it.
Ortiz is unique in his case, but he can still comeback, just keep him away from iron chinned fighters. Kid looked uncomfortable as fukc in the last rounds against Campbell. He might not be all there yet.
Leave Ortiz alone, this guy had a tougher life than any of the guys who insult him. Ortiz quit but he's still a true mexican warrior.
Nah papa In this sport requires heart to the fullest and he quit just as bad as Duran,Golota, and whomever disgraceful mother****er.Talk bout a hard life **** i did 7 years in prison so **** that.Hes a good fighter but remember warriors dont quit and not like that becuz he didnt want to get ko!!!!what a ****ing joke!!
BAck to topic............vasquez cant be called an ortiz quitter...............his resume speaks for itself...........................like morales, chavez, frazier, arguello.........
We were off topic?:op:

So you'd say its premature to call Ortiz a quitter until hes had a chance to redeem himself such as Vazquez had?
Then you should have asked whether its ok for fighters to quit, not which fighter quiting is worse
You were pretty much implying that you thought one quit was worse then the other.
I think hold it against fighters for quiting either, especially when in such situations
I was wondering who the public felt was worse because Vazquez received similar criticism after quitting against Marquez. I actually liked the answers because most give Vazquez a pass based on his heart in other fights instead of the fight with Marquez and that makes it more interesting that people are so willing to write Ortiz off instead of allowing him to prove them wrong. I have a feeling I can make some serious money in the future if the odds on Ortiz fights reflect the opinion of the users on BS.
This is my line of thinking right here. Ive been clocked before and know how if you take some big shots your brain and your body arent always on the same page.

Fighters get hurt all the time...its is part of the game to recover from getting hurt. Maidana was just as hurt when he was knocked down 3 times in the first 2 rounds and he defended himself just fine.
See what its like to do any athletic activity when you cant breath
DUDE, you are dead on.
When Maidana was on the canvas, Ortiz had all the heart in the world, but when Maidana starts fighting back, he turns into a little B!tch.
You wanna be a pro, act like one.
I don't hold it against fighters for quitting, it's their own lives they must take care of first....both fighters gave us two very entertaining fights before deciding enough was enough
A lot was forgotten when Izzy stepped into the ring with Marquez again...Ortiz can do the same if/when him and Maidana tango again
