Alright, so i've watched it three times now, and i hate to pester people with what seems like an ancient subject but I can't help but feel that it wasn't that Pascal had a particularly good night, just that Chad had a really bad one.
So my question is... do people feel like Pascal did good or Chad did bad?
Also, i hate how HBO couldn't wait to get on Chad's back. Saying the problem was he hadn't fought a young challenger... Adamek... anyone?! Very frustrating commentary for that fight.
Pascal sucks and Dawson sucked worse all he needed to do was fight on the outside and keep throwing the jab and it would of been an easy fight!
Well if it was that easy for him, he would have done it right? It is all he had to do according to you.
Chad did not bring it because he was afraid of paying a price for it. Pascal had him wary and waiting. It happens...
People say Chad had a bad night because he was hesitant and didnt throw enough punches. Fighters don't just become hesitant because of nothing...Pascal was in there throwing bombs, and bringing the heat to Dawson. He made Dawson hesitant and reluctant to let his hands go. The dude was going in and out but leaving bombs in between. Dawson to me seemed surprised and reluctant to engage. He doesn't appear to be the type of fighter who engages in a war which is something that pascal took advantage of and exploited. Pascal was fast and explosive...
I thought the scene was going to give Pascal his props after I saw the fight, but it seems as if everyone is making up excuses for Dawson instead of recognizing that he got beat clearly.
Great post
Pascal deserves a lot more credit for his perfomance against Dawson, i don't understand the hate... I have Pascal winning the rematch, Dawson will not become a warrior in less than a year so he just can't beat Pascal in those conditions...
He also fooled with Chad before the fight, Pascal made it out to be like Pascal was going to do the chasing of the chicken. But really it was Pascal who the boxing style of a chicken. Pascal wasn't the pressure fighter in this fight.
Yes but when Pascal did engage him, it made Chad look like a rag doll in there. Pascal refused to give Chad what he wanted. He gave him different looks in there. It is not necessarily what Chad didn't do, but what pascal did.
Why should he go straight to chad like Johnson did? that would play into Chad's style.

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Pavlik's a middleweight, added the fact that Pavliks style did not match up well against Hopkins. And you get Pavliks first loss and in embarrassing fashion.
Exactly what I am saying. Pascal took Chad out of his comfort zone also and made him fight a fight he was not comfortable with. Pascal fought a very smart fight.
Pavlik also did not have it against Hopkins. That was the worst he ever looked. Was it because he did not bring it or was it because Hopkins took away the tools he could use?
Pascal took Dawson completely out of his comfort zone and made him fight a fight that he was not accustomed too. Made him hesitant of throwing and punished him with combination's here and there to keep him honest. It happens in boxing. Chad simply never faced anyone with that style before. Pascal fought a beautiful fight in that he never gave Chad much to work with. Sure pascal was sloppy in spots, but the damage was done because he had Chad already thinking too much instead of reacting.
Somedays you just don't have it and that's what it looked like to me. Chad was just flat and short of making it a brawl, which is not his style, he wasn't going to win. He just didn't have it that night.
Pascal's speed and gameplan threw him off. He probably expected Pascal to come to him. Chad would probably win a reamtch, but I think it'd be close again.
Pascal had a fight plan and it did work cause Dawson was Dawson, nothing more, nothing less, can he be better fighter, maybe. First he must stop fighting grandpa's, cause when you face a young champion, things are happening a lot faster. Pascal will win the rematch, especially if Dawson continues to disrespect Pascal....
Chad looked off from the jump...almost seemed like he didn't care for a while...he had plenty of opportunities but looked like he didn't feel like working at all...
Pascal aint bad but I don't think he's some monster or is going to be some dominant champion like some think or hope he's gonna be...
It wasn't until he realized he needed a KO to win, he turned it up...
Regardless of what it was, Pascal did his job and got the W...
I don't think Pascal fought a very good fight, he was very amateurish most the time when he rushed forward to throw a combination. Dawson just wasn't going to have a good night, his body language was awful from the start and he never really looked interested.
To me, Chad could have performed a lot better. He somehow wasn't performing at his best for whatever reason, or to his best potential.
I could sense he just didn't pull the trigger when he had the chance several times in the fight. Could be me, but he may have underperformed due to the managerial issues he's undergoing.
Credit to Pascal who put up a fight and had his moments and was wobbled a couple of times. I just feel a, perhaps, better version of Dawson could have taken him out sooner if not stopped him.
If they do rematch and Pascal beats him again, then Pascal just had his number all along.
It honestly seemed to me that Chad was very "off" from the start, the expressions on his face and his body momvements and reactions told me a lot...didnt seem FULLY prepared...but who knows...give credit to Jean, though,, in any event because he really fought a good fight and executed a VERY effective plan...also, though, I would say he was VERY shook up in the 11th from that one shot...he was literally stiffened like a board for a moment or two, but Chad failed to seize the moment...then theheadbutt came moments later...

I agree...that Chad did not show up to the fight. I've stated many times thatchad can defeat pascal anyday of the week. Props to Pascal for winning...but chaf was clearly distracted. Anyway...I'd love to see a rematch. Moreover to your point...when hbo sets there mind on a fighter they go for broke...Chad just so happen to be on their sh"t list.
