seriously, it's like dawson didn't know basic technique to cut off the ring when you're a southpaw and the other guy is a conventional fighter.....dawson wasnt even trying to keep his lead foot outside of pascal's lead foot.....thats one of the reasons dawson was only getting off when pascal squared himself up...and it allowed pascal to move to his left easily......
on top of that he kept jumping back everytime pascal fired and leaning to his left....giving jean even more space to move to the left, and leaning into pascal's right to the body.... :nonono:
cant believe mustafa didnt even tell him about the foot....dawson did it all night.....
i swear on my life since rd 3 when i was first watching the fight every round i was just saying to myself "why doesn't mustafa tell him counter him with the left?"
and then dawson finally does it in the 11th, thing of beauty
Dawson lost the fight. He should have countered everytime Pascal jumped in but he was so tentative that Pascal started stealing rounds. When Dawson did counter or time Pascal he hurt him. Also, if Dawson had pressured Pascal starting in the 7th round he would have got the ko but he lacked a sense of urgency. Hopefully, he will learn a lesson from that fight.
Dawson fought like broad and deservedly lost. Pascal fought like he wanted the win and that is why he got the "W".
Pascal did lose on the night by giving Foxy Brown washed up wack ass access to the ring after fight was over!!!! :tragedy:
Rick James voice "I wish I had 4 hands so I could give that b!tch 4 thumbs down!!!!"
What. Pascal, foxy brown?

I agree with the TS, it's something I noticed as well.
Dawson's jab would've helped him a lot to break up Pascal's rhythm, but since Pascal was keeping his lead outside of Dawson's he was able to get out of range and turn Dawson before he threw or as he was throwing (there were times when Dawson would come the jab and Pascal just moved), forcing Dawson to reset. This also gave Pascal a better angle to land his right hand.
This is something he'll need to correct in the rematch.
Having said that, Dawson was also way too passive when the opportunities to attack were the there, like when Pascal would cover up on the ropes, when he was hurt, etc.
EDIT: I thought EMM's advice was good, I'm agreeing with the lead foot being a problem.
Quit bytching. Sad Chad was shown to be far from a warrior.
Eddie gave him very good tacticle advice, and urged him to throw back during pascals offensive assaults, Dawson chose to run back in a straight line whenever Pascal would go on the offensive and it cost him shot at glory, light heavyweight supremecy and his pride, he was undressed man.

Dawson knows how to cut off the ring, believe me. You don't have the amount of amateur experience and the amount of pro fights he has and not know how to do it.
Pascal is an awkward fighter, always has been. He moves in an out very well and hits you with right hands that you don't see coming, I spent time in the gym with him I know.
Dawson lost because he didn't engage him enough, even when he had a great flurry, he stopped. For no reason he just let him off the hook.
He was hesitant at the beginning because he was getting rushed in spurts by pascal and was getting touched and he didn't like that. He was even hurt early in the fight and that made him even more hesitant.
If you look, he was pitty patting with the jab and then throwing soft left hands after. He was never forceful and never established he was the bigger, stronger man.
His trainer was telling him the proper thing to do, he just was just reluctant to engage.
Dawson blew it.
it's partly EMM's fault. dawson didnt do anything that he was told and when he did, he abandoned it.
but EMM's kept saying a lot fo the same things every round which i think lead dawson into a false sense of security, especially every round when he's telling dawson that pascal is dead tired, all the while pascal wasn't as tired as the eyes were seeing because he kept sucking it up and throwing combos and bombs.
dawson had an off night, and didn't adjust, either he learns and grows and gets better, or he doesn't and he suffers the same defeat and strain from the same stylings that gave him fits in the pascal fight.
He's dead! He's dead! he's gone! use jab
exactly, lol.....how exactly was dawson gonna land a jab......he had his lead foot inside all night and was leaning to his left......pascal just needed to move to the left and dawson couldnt reach him......thats why dawson threw a lot of flimsy jabs upwards that fell short
I honestly agree that Dawson cutting the ring off was an issue, I just don't think it was Mustafa's fault.
I've been thinking this since the fight....Dawson isn't comfortable coming forward. It was a huge issue the whole fight. He didn't expect Pascal to concede ground, and he was confused and thrown off all night.
thats mustafa's fault again, trainers are supposed to teach that, and come up with strategy on the fly.....pascal has been fighting like he did on saturday for a while now, moving and exploding sparingly.....
WHAA? Mustafa Muhammad was giving him perfect instructions, and if he actually listened he would have won. Its his own fault for giving up the fight.
perfect advise????he kept telling him to cut off the ring, when dawosn clearly didnt know how to.....mustafa shouldve taught him....or told him right there "stupid, keep your lead foot outside and dont lean to your left" that's all the advise dawson needed......even with his lack of killer instinct, he wouldve hit pascal so easily, it wouldnt have mattered......
