100% true, although i'm not talking specifically about dawson, but about fighters in general. i say you can't call someone great until we see how they deal with defeat and if they can come back better and avenge the loss. i'm using one of many many examples but this one is fresh enough for all to remember, but hamed was considered the best ever rah rah rah, had one defeat and it took his fighting soul away, never to achieve anything in boxing after getting his ass handed to him, making him not great. he did great things, but not a great as far as career, poise, and perseverance; no perseverance there. and no, it was dawsons fight to lose, he had more than enough chances to close the show or at least get a knockdown, and he didn't, for some reason dawson didn't go on the attack and didn't take advantages of the openings pascal gave to dawson. dawson's fault.......... dawson either changes his game a bit and expands his technique or he doesn't and the blue print on how to beat him is out there for all who wish to attempt to employ it............ I understand what you're saying that coming back from defeat is a measure of greatness..ok but do you think thats the only measure?

Great for Pascal who have only 1 loss and came back winning all of his fights, just like you said : "Only the greatest boxers lose and rise again" will see about Dawson... Absolutely. This is what im trying imply to those who think Dawson is an overated fighter. Now that Dawson has tasted his first defeat, were going to see if Dawson does have the tools and ability to bounce back. Some think the loss has done more damage but I disagree. Dawson really needs to prove himself again in the rematch Dawson will have to show he has the desire to reign as champion once again, that's what champions do. He had Pascal hurt right before they stopped it, maybe it was his strategy to come on late who knows. Its not like Dawson asked for the fight to be stopped! I dont think that was Dawsons intention to let it go to the laters rounds. Dawson found himself in a difficult posisition late on, and realised he had turned up the gas pretty fast if he wanted to win the fight hense why he started to be very aggressive towards the 11th round, he was looking for the KO. it is not a loss Dawson "Can't bounce back from" that is for sure but Dawson can't go backwards and he can't go for a bullsh*t warm up fight if Pascal decides to take another match before fighting him, if Pascal goes on to fight someone else first then Dawson should go ahead and fight Cloud, beating Cloud would also be a quick way to redeem himself Dawson has the ability to bounce back! He hardly went out on his shield though. He looked disinterested, timid and lacking in ideas. He had Pascal hurt right before they stopped it, maybe it was his strategy to come on late who knows. Its not like Dawson asked for the fight to be stopped!

I doubt it. It's not like when Ali lost his 0 to Frazier and went all out almost gettig himself killed, and putting Frazier in the ER as a result. Dawson looked for an exit when the going got tough and will lose Again. A lot of fighters stop careing about losing once their 0 goes and rack up a lot of losses.

I agree 100%,the only 2 great fighters that I can think of that have never lost are Marciano & Prior!!I think it's just plain common sense that if U fight the best fighters in any division that Ur in,Ur gonna lose at least 1 fighter!!But if U enter divisions & casually avoid that divisions elite,U can get away with remaining undefeated,but the resume will be transparent!! Obviously, Dawson proves something to everybody if he can get revenge next time. But I'm not buying it as a given that Dawson comes back with a vengeance and easily destroys Pascal in a rematch. It's a fight either guy can win.
