Im not exactly sure if they are or not, but based on the interview he gave and the likely hood of them not being interested in a rematch its not looking good (and I am a dawson fan)
I think Dawson is also managed by Al Haymon like Berto and Williams are isn't he? I don't understand why HBO is forcing Williams to fight Martinez in a rematch but is letting Berto get away with fighting Kotelnik or Guzman. Don't get me wrong, I want to see the Martinez-Williams rematch bad. But if HBO lets Dawson back on their air with a tune up fight until the rematch with Pascal then that goes to show you they are giving Dawson and Berto preferential treatment. They have zero fan base and like you said HBO wasted a **** load of money on Dawson's sissy boy slap parties.
No one does man. That's one of the big mysteries in boxing. The only possible explanation I have is some people are getting serious kick-backs from Berto fighting on HBO.
There is no other logical explanation for the amount of fights Berto has on HBO. He probably has more fights on HBO than almost any active fighter besides a few of the older fighters.
I don't think so, it's not as if anyone cares if he comes back. He showed up to his last 3 fights like they were sparring sessions and made bank off HBO. They can't be happy with that.

just wishful thinking from a few haters that don't like Dawson style
have to see how the Ratings did first, I seriously doubt HBO is even considering getting rid of Dawson...FOR WHAT? because he lost? I am sure HBO would love to do a Dawson vs Pascal rematch especially if the Ratings for this fight did well and obviously they would love to do the Dawson vs Cloud match, things starting heat up a little bit in that division and all of those fighters are still young so I seriously doubt HBO will be dropping Dawson anytime soon

hes still a quality fighter. and still top 10 p4p. dont see HBO getting rid of that kind of fighter
i doubt it. they will continue to showcase him. dawson is a contendor now. hes gotta stop talking as if hes still the champ.

I dont think you can giveup on a fighter just because he lost once. The Problem with Dawson is that he has more Boxing Ability and Talent in his Division than anyone but he has no Heart, Courage, Mental Strenght. Lets face it, hes a pretty dumb guy and one of his biggest problems is that he cant sellout high school bleachers. This fight was a classic example of where a guy with less skill beats on a guy whos naturally better than him. Boxing is alot about using your head and having courage/heart to become a champion. Dawson hasnt shown an ounce of that. Being inactive and fighting past their prime fighters and not Knocking them out doesnt help you sell seats. Thats why Dawson has to go to everyone elses home turf and it must get inside his head how hes a 4/1 favourite yet he has to go to Canada to fight a guy whos less popular and less talented but had 15,000 people cheering for him to win and he came thru. IMO: Dawson will be that guy whos always a tought opponent but lacks the mental part to become a great champion and will be a stepping stone for younger fighters. Unless he does something dramatic like growing a pair of balls and changes his whole attitude to the way he fights he will be fighting along side of Chris Arreola on Friday Night Fights.
I picked Pascal to win and even at the weigh ins you can see that Dawson was scared of something, maybe he realized a guy with less talent can draw a huge crowd in his home town unlike Chad.
They should drop him for one fight unless he grows some balls and stops ducking Tavoris Cloud. Because the rest of the division is a joke and HBO would be throwing good money after bad if they let him fight some ho hum opponent. If he wants to fight a confidence building fight? Fine. But do it outside of HBO and their budget.
People need to realize Pascal doesn't have to give Dawson an immediate rematch according to the contract. I think he can fight one guy before he does, which he'll probably go after Bute.

How do you know they aren't happy about a rematch, HBO is excited everytime they go to Montreal. I don't think they anticipated Dawson losing but they will support him in a rematch just like they do all their fighters a la Jermain Taylor lost 2x Pavlik, Pavlik 2x lost to Hopkins then Martinez turned down a rematch. The will make more money in a rematch anyway but if Chad loses again he might be on showtime lol
I'm not alone in my critique of Dawson.
Plenty of people see him as a Dud (capital D for emphasis)..
I don't wanna see a rematch. I wanna see Dawson go to the back of the line and start fighting some young fighters and work his way back up.
For starters, I got Cloud winning against him by decapitation.
Sig that if you want to.
Whether or not you're alone doesn't mean anything. If you're not alone, that just means that there are more people that are wrong.
busy? explosive combinations? chad dawson?
who you trying to swindle?
dawson is neither. he had 4 fights in a row vs 40 year old men & couldnt put anybody down.
GTFO & take your busy explosive combinations with you.
Umm....apparently you've never seen him fight. So now somebody new....you are just wrong.
This isn't really debatable. Someone is seriously saying Dawson doesn't explode with combos? That's how he fights for gods sake.
Sounds like some of these people only saw the second Johnson fight.
Are you gonna say he holds a lot too? Because it seems like you're just taking out boring fighter criteria and applying it to Dawson because you don't know what you're talking about.
Dawson throws explosive combos and rarely, if ever holds.
Exactly man.
These guys that keep saying "Dawson had an off night" have a selective memory.
He always fights like a limp dick.
His fight with Adamek and first fight with Johnson was very impressive.
After that he was hand-fed 3 Bull**** fights, and they all paid huge money. THe Tarvar rematch was insane. HBO dropped big money for that because they wanted Dawson on their Network.
He needs to be more active, he's had all the gifts he should get for the rest of his career.
No man.
No.
I've seen all his fights and he's ALWAYS CAUTIOUS like that. Even against the old men, he only let his hands go when it was totally safe to do so.
Why do you think I don't like him? He doesn't let his hands go. Maybe you're just so enamored with the Dawson "brand" that you don't see this.
But the guy's never been one to break any sort of punch records.
If he was as active as you make it sound he wouldn't be getting booed in his own hometown.
He's always fought just like he did last night, he just didn't have the usual luxury of being in against an old shot opponent.
Rematch? Bleh... Whats in it for Pascal? He already whooped him.
Nah. You just develop a dislike for certain fighters and than grow such a deep seeded hate for them that you literally are incapable of seeing past the hate.
I never said Dawson was a busy fighter. But he's busier than he was last night. How he wins fights are exploding with combinations.
He didnt' fight that way against Johnson the second time cause he was being careful, hence why he got booed. He just fought to his strengths.
Last night he just looked flat. To say that he looked like he normally does is simply wrong.
Now....I'm sure Pascal had something to do with it. Pascal won, and I like Pascal, he deserved it.
But Dawson is the better fighter and will prove it in the rematch...there's a rematch clause, so it's going to happen.
If i wasn't before last night, I definitely am now. Dawson wasn't going to KO Pascal when it was stopped, he had the chance since the third ****ing round. Instead he chose to run around and half ass tap Pascal with a reaching jab that did nothing.
We've endured two **** fights with Tarver, pointless lackluster rematch with Johnson, and now this?
HBO's descision to no longer buy boring Klitschko fights is a good one fore the sport (in America), but they need to be fair and drop Dawson if he isn't going to perform.
I hope we don't hear from Chad again.
why? 175lbs is heating up, leaving dawson out of the mix is just plain retarded. just cuz he lost that one fight doesnt mean he cant come back or that he isnt truly the best at 175lbs.
My plan if I was HBO would be to let Dawson fight his rematch on Showtime with Pascal. Or at least rack up a few wins that are respectable on another network.
And than let him fight Cloud on HBO. HBO invested a lot in him, and Dawson hasn't shown that he deserves any of it. Not to mention he can't bring a crowd for his life and never will.
Dawson is suppose to be the champ of the division, his last 3 fights are 3 terrible performances against an over-rated Pascal, and 2 old men in tarvar and johnson.
Tarvar and johnson were 2 of the worst fights I've ever watched.
Dawson fights lazy and shows no ability or desire to want to actually hurt his opponents.
Dude, he had ONE good desperation round and it still didn't put Pascal down. After that uppercut that momentarily stunned Pascal, Dawson let him recover.
Pascal would've made it out of that round and even if he coasted in the 12th he would've won a decision anyway.
One good desperation round and everyone is ready to write off Pascal..
smh...
:nonono:
I said LAVISH ME.
Not make excuses for why Dawson fought like he always fights.
This dude is a DUD.
Clearly you don't really know how Chad fights if you think that's how he usually fights. He never fights like that, he's always wayyy more active.
He explodes with combinations all the time, and he wasn't doing it. That was not the Dawson we've seen, not even close.
Dawson will KO Pascal in a rematch. I think the loss finally gave him a sense of urgency.
Lavish me with praise for picking Pascal all along and acknowledge my greatness.
I truly believe Dawson was gonna stop him.
But Pascal was definitely winning the fight.
I firmly believe Dawson was overtrained. He was on weight ridiculously early, which makes sense after the postponments and what not.
