Those who thought highly of Dawson but no longer do

Im sorry but Pascal is trash. Dawson with his amount of skills should be embarassed to lose to him. Terrible night for Dawson...... Vernon Forrest lost to Ricardo Mayorga. Twice.

Dawson barely got past a 39 year old Johnson, fought two unimpressive fights against a shot Tarver, rematched Johnson, then lost to a fighter who isn't even top five at Super-Mid. I understand that people can be a fan of a fighter and like his style but they need to open their eyes, Dawson was never elite and putting him top five P4P was ridiculous. Right now there are a large number of fighters - Cloud, Pascal, Kessler, Ward, Froch, Dirrel, Abraham ect. fighting at relative parity. Dawson fans need to realise Dawson is a part of this group, that he isn't and wasn't above it and that if his skills are to be acknowledged as elite he's first going to have to prove it.

Poor Chad - I doubt very much that Pascal doesn't take another fight next. But Dawson has no one but himself to blame for what happened. I suspect he would stop Pascal if they fought again but Cloud has to be licking his chops right now.

i am and always will be a Chad Dawson fan. he had an off night, it happens. the thing that hurt me the most though is how he was complaining at the end. at the post fight presser, Pascal said it best: "You have to know how to win and HOW TO LOSE like a champion. this is boxing.'' You went to somebody else's hometown, u had an off night, u got whooped. Learn from it, come back stronger, but take ur loss like a man, stay classy.. what the hell Chad? anyway, i can understand him somewhere, and me and him have the same style, even though he's of course much faster and well conditioned than me. i'll be rooting for him, hopefully he learns from it.

My thoughts on his abilities haven't changed. Those on his heart and determination to win have. But I'm not writing him off just yet.

Any fan of boxing who says that has been stuck on Floyd too long!!This loss is the best thing that could have happened to Dawson,we saw what happens when he lets his hands go,next time he does it earlier to avoid anything like this!!Dawson lost to a hungrier fighter last night,now he knows what it feels like to have an empty stomach,he needed it!! No, he didn't need it. This was his time to rise to the occasion to back up all the praise people have been giving him with the Ring belt on the line. Elite fighters beat Pascal because he's not that good.

I'm still a big Dawson fan. Pascal fought a tough and smart fight. He moved well, flurried and mixed in hard shots when he had to. Dawson was coming on late and probably could of stopped Pascal but the cut occurred. I personally think Dawson could of continued especially when you consider some fighters have continued with cuts just as bad than what Dawson had yesterday (Cotto-Clottey, Jones-Calzaghe for example). I'm not gonna complain about it though, Dawson has a rematch clause and in my opinion, he will set the record straight in a second fight.

And now he "he was never that good to begin with". I can't wait for him to come back and beat Pascal in the rematch. I know he's gonna let his go in the rematch. This wasn't a loss where Pascal was schooling Dawson and Chad had no answers, it really was just an off night Pascal made him pay for. I have not lost any respect for Dawson and still think very highly of him. This is the type of loss that fighters come back from and never let happen again, and I definitely expect that with Dawson.

Pascal was mediocre and was lucky Dawson didn't take the risk of knocking him out.

I agree. They can go f*ck themselves. Bad Chad is gonna be faster, stronger and better than before after tonights loss. Chad will get hurt in that rematch, Pascal is now more confident, it was a step up for him, Pascal can only improve after that fight. Chad excuses after the fight didn't impress much, i'm pretty sure you didn't like it either.

I aint even see the fight but I was thoroughly disappointed in the result! BUT Chad Dawson is one of the finest boxers of this era and I believe He will hadle his biz next go round... Now he has a legitimate rival and thats what he needed to be respected! for ppl to see he is human, can lose,but the get back is always sweeter. Pascal just helped create a monster!

But you know what Kev thats his fault. I been saying he shouldve took a tune up. I dont know why he kept rescheduling while Pascal was healing from a shoulder injury he couldve took on another fighter in that time frame and then fought Pascal. He looked slow to me night. He didnt look like an elite level fighter. I like Chad but he didnt show me any type of heart or fire. He would let up on Pascal and stare at him then at times he would get blasted by Pascal and instead of hitting him back he would posture and act like the punch was nothing. I mean you're in Canada and you fight like you're up every round? He cant fight like that and be called an elite fighter. Freakin Jean Pascal? Im sorry Pascals a scrub. I dont think Pascal is good at all. Which makes this loss even more puzzling from Chad. I agree...dude looked slower than i have ever seen him...I coould have done a better job than he did tonight. I'd go in there with the mentality that you have to win, beat this guy to death with every chance you get. My stamina is pretty good too..I'd bet big money that Dawson's should be better than mine as he is a pro boxer....he should have eaten Pascal alive. How can you not beat Pascal but beat Adamek??

That is the thing. Pascal usually has pretty good stamina. Neither one of them were in top form tonight Yeah, he looked better when he beat Diacanu as far as stamina goes. Which goes to show you the surgery on the shoulder affected him a great deal. But that's why Dawson not being able to beat him tonight says a lot about how overrated Dawson has been on here.

Either he has been used tofighting older, slower fighters or the "other" reasons. Either he was paid off or drugged up....not even exaggerating this. I have never seen Chad this slow.......ever. He looked timid at first, then just unwilling to exchange at all. He opened u and hurt Pascal when he CHOSE TO, yet did nothing with the opportunity that was in front of him. Chad was not the same Chad tonight..we can run with the conspiracy stuff or go with the he was used to fighting old timers thing....which ever is best but something was WAY, WAY off tonight.

Nope. He started his 11th round flurry. Then just stopped. For no reason. Thats not fire. He shouldve came out like that in Round 5. I expect every fighter to want to continue with a cut like that especially with the Ring title on the line. He stopped for no reason? He was going to knock Pascal out in the 12th if not the 11th... And the last response is just laughable man. Ok so you expect every fighter to want to continue with that cut, but what if a fighter doesn't? That means he has no heart right? So what does that make the person that DOES continue.
