And it isn't because he lacks the talent. He lacks the instinct, the hunger, the drive. He doesn't want it like the greats do. He doesn't want it like a Mayweather or SRL, a Pacquiao or RJJ.
It's sad, but it is what it is.

I totally agree. I think if he pulled the trigger more often he wouldve KOed Pascal before the 10th
I'm very disapointed with his performance from last night but i'm still a fan of Dawson. I have faith he'll bounce back from this defeat and come back even stronger. Hopefully he stays busy and goes after Cloud next instead of waiting for that rematch with Pascal.
He looked bad becuz he is bad. He was overrated. Every single one of his wins were not that great. Glenn JOhnson came close to beating him....like really? he old. And he didnt DOMINATE Tarver. Thats what happens when you fight a prime fighter guys
The only thing I agree with here is Dawson isn't like Floyd that's for sure,Floyd would never fight an elite fighter who's younger than him in his own weight class!!
genaro hernandez, corrales, castillo...at the point where dawson is at in his career, floyd had fought and beat all these top guys, all better fighters that jean pascal. stop talkin ****.

will wait and see how he does in a rematch before I go THAT FAR, but I do agree with the lack of a Killer Instinct, he has great boxing skills no doubt...but when you have a man hurt you have to jump on him you can't just stop and look at him, he had Pascal hurt with a beautiful shot but he STOPPED
this might end up being a TRILOGY between Pascal and Dawson which is not a bad thing since both of them are still young and that division needs some excitement
but Pascal deserves all the Credit, he fought his ass off so respect to him, I look forward to seeing them fight again real soon
Imagine people giving up on Sugar Ray after losing that first fight to Duran, that is the different between True Boxing fans and you NEW BOXING FANS, you guys are ready to give up on a fighter after one bad performance lol
Dawson is still a beast, Pascal got the win but he wasn't OVERLY IMPRESSIVE nor did a walk away from this fight thinking "IT IS NO WAY DAWSON CAN BEAT THIS GUY"
Great post. I agree 100%. Chad will be back at the top. Give the man a break. He had a bad night. He'll learn and become a better fighter. A loss isn't always a horrible thing.
He already get beat by Johnson who isn't by miles an extraordinary fighter...
He needs motivation,he's well prepared...
He beat Johnson.
He needs someone Mayweather Sr's level in his corner. Hell, go get Freddi Roach if it'll make you better.

Pascal was great, he had speed, footwork, everything was there. I hope Dawson doesn't want a rematch cause it will be worst for him in a rematch, Pascal is getting better every year and he's still young, very good for boxing and the LHW Division.
I disagree.
I think this is an example of a night where a fighter just didn't have it, knew it, and didn't want to be in the ring. We've seen Chad in a war, and he wasn't scared of it.
It's not like Pascal was fighting a fantastic fight. He was fighting scared , he just threw those one or two combos that left the judges with no choice but to score the round for him because Dawson refused to respond most the fight.
I would be surprised if we ever saw Chad Dawson look like this ever again. Not every fighter is Floyd Mayweather, they have off nights. I'll chalk this up to that until proven otherwise.
Dawson refused??The mother****er.
Like...
Pascal: "C'mon Chad hit me "
Dawson:"NO Jean,I refuse,I don't want to hit you..."
He needs a new trainer.
That, too. I didn't like the advice he was receiving in that corner one bit. Even I could've told him to do better stuff than "Triple the jab and skip to him". :laff2:
1 lost and all of a sudden a boxer just is not elite anymore....
Losing should not affect anything.
I have always felt that your greatness is truly proved on how you comeback from a lost.
If Dawson is truly as good as I have said he is. Then he will come back better and stronger than ever after tonight. If he is not what "we" thought he was then we will find out surely. One lost doesn't prove anything.
Fans should stop getting so carried away after a fight. Lets stop being so quick with the judgement calls.
This is why J-ro is one of my favorite posters on this site. Good post.
Dawson is my second favorite fighter as well, and I personally believe he's the most talented boxer in boxing not named Mayweather.
However, he reminds me of LeBron James. Tremendous talent, great physical attributes, and all the potential in the world, but he lacks that killer instinct the greats have.
Chad will pick up from here and have a great career, but unless he changes his mentality in the ring, he'll never live up to his potential.
Chad will indeed pick it up from here.
A simple trainer change and he'll be all good.
As I said before, I still see greatness in Chad Dawson.
Well, it's called a second chance. Sometimes, in one's line of work, things don't always go right. Dawson just has to come back to work and not fail next time.
He needs a new trainer.
True. He should get another shot at the title to redeem himself.
He really needs to up his game a lot more than tonight to prove naysayers wrong, though.
He doesn't deserve anything though. The media and HBO have been waay to accomidating to Chad just handing him the #1 LHW position. He needs to fight the best now, Cloud, Pascal, Shumenov, Campillo, perhaps Bute depending on a possible Pascal Bute fight and outcome.
No more undeserved recognition. I'm not writing Chad off but fuking prove something already. That's what i'm most excited about.
I don't know, it's how a fighter loses and he lost to a fighter who was just winning because he'd throw flurries then back out and move around the ring... Very disappointing way to be outpointed by a fighter.
