I saw his fight vs Jermain Taylor and he was getting outboxed, outjabbed, knocked down and taking power shots from Jermain who was on the down-low, Andre Direll i also saw that on PrimeTime when they were previewing his next fight and from the highlights i saw he was losing aswell so if not for that TKO he would have lost, so i want to know if he is all hype or not.
Froch isn't hype at all, if anything he is seriously underated.
Froch doesn't possess fast hands, slick footwork, defense, etc but he has become a top 168lber because he can punch, has good stamina and is tough as nails.
His ability to box is underated also, he actually has a decent jab and he proved he can move decently well against Kessler.
What impresses me the most about him is his resume.
Wins over Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell ( i thought Dirrell won but he looked like crap), close loss to Kessler which he could of easily won had it been anywhere else but Denmark. Thats a top resume at 168.
He deserves props for being willing to take tough fights. I never used to like Froch but these past few years i've grown to like him because he wants to test himself against the best and he fights hard.
No one could argue the fact that he is hard to beat, so that is half the job done.
I mean not everyone could force a stoppage like he did against JT in the dying seconds without some kind of attributes in your locker room. Maybe that attribute is determination and will to win.
But having said that, JT was knocked out in the dying seconds in his next fight. SO maybe JT is easy to beat in the dying seconds? I contradicted myself trying to defend Froch.
The fact that most people are praising his record when the 4 big fights he's had are 3 losses in reality W or no W, Taylor took him to school while he was on the downslide, Direll was a hometown gift which everyone knows was a L and Kessler beat him on the downslide. I actually like Froch and i think he's a very clever boxer and made the most of his abilities that he has - pretty much a typical british boxer but he can't get praise for a record where most fights are 10 minutes away from his house and got lucky for 1 fight and gifted 1 more and the main thing that pisses me off about him is the way he talks **** for a guy with barely any accomplishments thats all.
One man sees a guy get lucky late after being taken to school
Another man sees a gutsy warrior pullin out the win when the chips were down
Taylor also outboxed AA before folding late, Abraham is no bum so i not gonna hate on Carl for not dominating Taylor.
Dirrell is the better fighter but he only has himself to blame
And his loss to Kessler was a classic and real close tho the right man won

Lately it seems like Abraham only fights in the championship rounds after taking the first 6 or so off.
Perhaps he will start faster against Froch.
He says he will start faster. He has said that was one of the lessons he learned from the Dirrell fight. Question is: Can he? He has been fighting the same way all through his career.
His heart and determination alone is worldclass. He isn't the most gifted fighter, but he is a tough monkey and will give anyone trouble. I think he is a scary opponent for almost everyone. He can get hit time and time again and still fight like nothing has happened.
He is one of my absolute favourite fighters, I love it when he talks smack and I love how he fights. Every fight I've seen with him has been exciting.
He is a strong man.
But guys he has Taylor as a W but had Taylor been in prime condition and not on a downslide it would have been even worse and not to mention the fact that he was losing that fight up until the last round says he isn't as great as people are making it out also i think he lost to Direll, i ain't a hater but i also don't see the fuss, the only thing i actually dislike about him is the fact he talks **** about Calzaghe, Khan and anyone else thats his way out putting his name out there. I think he is going to get Knocked down and lose vs Abraham.
I dont think so, nobody is claiming he is SRR reincarnated.
His record is solid.
No i think Froch is a hard man to beat - great chin, big balls, lots of heart, very determined but patient, big power puncher, awkward, physically strong and fit
Thats the good stuff and its taken him this far, he has some good wins!
The bad? He is slow and not the most elusive, can telegraph his shots, has poor footwork, carrys his hands way too low and even when they are up he has a terrible habbit of pulling his right hand back away from his chin as he jabs
He is rated as he should be IMO
not even, hes definitely a douschebag though. He doesnt have much skill, I can appreciate his toughness, but his mouth his too big for his lack of accomplishments.
how can he be over hyped when their isnt any carl froch hype ?
he is one of the best british fighters and DID ko jermain taylor, did give dirrell
and kessler a decent test. not really sure what it is you wanna hear with this
Froch's success is built upon physical fitness, an iron chin and sheer will power. Technically all he has going for him is a very underrated jab and power shots that come from unusual angles. Honestly I don't understand the hate for him on this board. I know he talks too much, without that much right to do so, but he comes to fight, wants to fight only the very best and is nearly always good value for money. I think he should be celebrated as a fighter who has got very far without any technical brilliance or special athleticism.
i don't think he's hype because as far as i know no one really rates him that highly
the fact that he always comes in tip top condition and can take a good shot are his best assets but he is always going to be outclassed by better technical fighters which most american fighters are
abraham isn't as good a boxer as taylor or even kessler so it will be interesting to see how froch does against him he should be able to land more than a few shots on abraham who is a stationary target for the most part
He is competant in all areas. His boxing skills might not be the best, but he is physically capable, with speed and power.
ANd he has resilience and determination on a world class scale. ANd he capitalises on his strenghths and it has taken him this far.
So he is not hype but he isnt the greatest of all time ability wise and resume wise.
Froch will always get outboxed but can his opposition do it for 12 rounds? That's the toughest part. He lacks in skill but has a good chin and can apply pressure. I actually think his jab isn't that bad...it's his awkward style. I think he earned his spot.
