People knock on Arreola all the time for his weight but... It doesnt really make a difference.
I mean he is very relaxed in the ring and has great confidence in his chin, so he has pretty good stamina
If anything the weight lets him absorb blows from MUCH MUCH bigger men, and probably attributes to his power.
I mean, I just can't see him taking 12 rounds worth of HARD shots for Adamek had he been 50 pounds lighter, u kno?
And either way, He isn't beating a Klitschko or a Haye
Well certainly if he didn't blow up so horrendously between fights he could devote a much greater time to tweaking his skills or preparing for his opponents better in the run up to the fight.
True ..... I can't believe that someone who has this kind of an opportunity does not workout properly. Especially after losing. That in itself should have woken him up.
Anyone who has trained to try to get himself into the best possible condition knows what were talking about here. You just go to another level when you are in that kind of shape.
Maybe if Chris trained like a pro athlete he'd have a bit more success in the ring. My fingers aren't crossed that's going to happen though.
Yea that won't happen.
He's mentioned how he realized he has to train harder and come in lighter before... what? his last 2 fights now? And theres been no real difference.
And he's been saying it in the build up to his ESPN2 fight, and he just came in at a higher weight then he did for his last fight.
Arreola just doesnt want it as bad as other guys do.
When Adamek says he WANTS to be heavyweight champion, I believe him because when he gets into the ring I can see all the hard work he has put into his fights.
And when a Klitschko says he wants to hold onto his belts, I believe them too cause they are ludicrous condition and LOOK like heavyweight champions should
If Arreola ever won a heavyweight title it would be a disgrace to the title, and proof that you don't need to work particularly hard to get one.
I said he was fat for a boxer, which in the division he fights at is not a ludicrous thing to say. I also said nothing about his stamina or workrate. Diaz is a beast, and you won't hear any different from me.

Chris trains like a pro just not enough, and Juan isn't fat for a boxer again he's just not toned. There is a diffrence, he's just not hard like a rock which does not make him fat for a boxer.
I can and do run more than Chris Arreola does, it has nothing to do with muscles. At any given time I can run 10+ miles with no issues and have run 18 before for marathons.
Yes, I am in better physical looking shape as well.
Good! Still doesn't mean chris doesnt have good cardio, and even more it still doesn't mean you can do what Chris does.
Unless you are a Pro boxer or Pro athlete I really don't see how anyone is justified in saying that Chris is a disgrace. He could weigh better and perform better but a disgrace? Thats just sucking on your own cack to make up for your own faults as an athlete. You may run really well but be honest with yourself. Chris is the superior athlete, he's the pro!
Unless you are a Pro? If you are I retract my statement.
Juan Diaz Fat LOL!! Oh my fuking god thats ridiculous! Juan is just not defined there is a diffrence. Seriously calling a guy who was known for having a tremendous work rate and great stamina fat is dillusional at best.

Chris has great Cardio he has to it's a requirement and please stop acting like your typical misguided fan that thinks they are in better shape than a pro athlete. Seriously chris is in better shape cardio wise than 90% of the earths population.

Chris definitely would need to get in better shape. He could do more than if he comes in overweight. There are things you just can't do when you are carrying extra weight in the wrong areas.
Still, for Chris to beat some of the top guys, he needs to also improve on his technique. He relies on one thing way too much. Now, getting in better shape can actually help you improve on your technique, mobility and have better stamina.
Well certainly if he didn't blow up so horrendously between fights he could devote a much greater time to tweaking his skills or preparing for his opponents better in the run up to the fight.
That wasn't my question. Are you in as good "cardiovasculer" shape as Chris or do you just look better? I know guys at my boxing gym that look like male models but make them go more than 4 rounds and they are huffing and puffin like they just ran a marathon.
He went 10 rounds with Adamek and didn't look anymore tired than any normal in shape boxer.

Sorry, Juan Diaz is fat for a boxer, Arreola is just fat period. And in answer to your question, no I most likely couldn't go ten rounds with an elite boxer, even one several weight divisions below me (to take into account the weight difference in the Arreola Adamek fight). But this is for several reasons: firstly, I'm not a heavyweight so would be facing a generally more skillful bunch of guys, secondly I don't have the chin or natural toughness of Chris meaning I'd have to get by on footwork, slips and upper body movment, all of which tire you out quicker. Finally, not being a professional boxer, I'd not be anywhere near as relaxed as Chris is when he's fighting, resulting in me burning up more energy whilst fighting. So yeah I probably wouldn't last. But then let's see the fat f*cker play a full 90 minutes of football without collapsing in a big blubbery heap at the end of it. Then I'll be impressed.

And come on now have you seen the fuking jumbos that play football in collage and the NFL? Guys that outweight chris by a 100 pounds do it easily fuk chris could barely play on a High school offensive line at his size so yeah I think you are overexagerrating things and just falling for the myth that some how if you look like a model then you are a super athlete. Chris has great Cardio he has to it's a requirement and please stop acting like your typical misguided fan that thinks they are in better shape than a pro athlete. There ya go.
Cheers matey. It's clear Arreola was never a stylist, but he definitely seems lighter on his feet and a little quicker of hand (as he should be at a rake thin 178 lb).

Oh I agree with you didn't say it would hurt chris to drop some weight but when people on this forum start jeering chris for being fat and well lets be honest 99% of the people on this forum are nowhere near as in shape as chris. And Chris is fat for a boxer but for a normal person on the street hes just a big strong looking fella.

NO!
Chris lacks BOXING SKILLS! he is a Knockout Artist NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS, if he doesn't score the KO then he will lose, Vitali and Tomasz boxed circles around him, Vitali just let him run into his jab all night
Chris is fun to watch if you match him up with the right fighters but if you put him in with a fighter with boxing skills then he will lose
you basically just said "NO!" and then agreed with me.... :trink26:
It's about his dedication to the sport. It's a part of his limited skills as well.
If he were more dedicated to keeping in the best possible shape, maybe that would lead to improving other aspects of how he fights. Maybe he develops a better gameplan than walking forward hoping to knock fighters out with big punches.
When the guy won't put winning above wanting to eat, it's no wonder he isn't heavyweight champ and guys like the Klitschkos are.
Arreola does have good stamina for a fat guy, but so long as a large proportion of his training camp is dedicated to weight loss that's time that could be spent honing his skills or formulating a better gameplan. He'll never be James Toney skills-wise, but if he could get himself down to a reasonable weight and stay there, he'd substantially improve his chances in the ring and improve his health as well.

Let me upload this video of Arreola when he weighed 178lbs in the amateurs and u do the math of what slowed down and what he stopped doing since the weight gain
I believe it would benefit him. At the weight he is at now certain moves tend to tire him out so he is there always in front of your face. If he was more athletic then he would be able to slip punches constantly instead of walking in with no head movement. Also he would be able to get in and out of exchanges. Him being overweight restricts everything athletic related which is why he is a come forwared slugger. Now I wouldnt want him to become dehydrated zombie like where it effects his punch resistance. Just want his weight to come down enough for him to equip certain moves.
This is a good point. Arreola at present relies far too much on his decent chin and not on his footwork and upper body movement, and that's going to cost him somewhere down the line, first in performances and then in health.
Speak for yourself tubby. :D
Or guys who do exercise some and have some definition in their bodies who have this dillusional notion that they are top level athletes.
