the potential fireworks produced by these 2 southpaw bangers could've gone through the roof...
personally, i think it would go something like hagler-mugabi during the 80s...
very brutally competitive the first few rounds until the advantage of experience from competing against the elite enables pacquiao to muster a late round stoppage...
NSB? ur thoughts?
Valero had power but nothing else. Woulda been one of those one sided, yet still entertaining kinda fights. Never saw Valero knocking Pac out; he's faster and takes a good shot. Pac woulda beat him up and finished him late. I was looking forward to this one at 135 two years ago. Too bad about what happened with Valero and his wife.
It took Valero in about 10 rounds landing at will his powershot to finally stop Mosquera and Pacquiao is more tougher than him. Pacquiao will not be there recieving those shots and once he down he may not hear the bell rings.

To judge this fight all you have to do is watch the Valero vs Mosquera fight. How many level above do you think Pacman is than Mosquera? Yet Mosquera fighting a stupid plan knocked his ass down and it took Valero 10 hard rounds to finally win.
Pacquiao would've knocked Valero out in the mid rounds, Valero's way of rolling his right shoulder back to make his opponents miss would not work against Pacquiao, Pacquiao would be too quick for Valero to time his shots, Pacquiao would tattoo Valero with his shots until Valero couldn't take any more.
:hail:
I honestly can't fathom why people were already talking about Valero-Pacquiao when he didn't have any big names on his resume yet. After he beat DeMarco in his last fight, things got really out of control.
Pacquiao is sharper, proven to be more powerful at bigger weight classes, better speed, better combinations...much better in everything Valero does.
pac would prolly win in a firefight but valero was not just a crude brawler. in his fight against a demarco he showed he had skills. shame what happened to him and we cant see more of him.
valero was just a crude brawler who beat no one of relevance..and you think he beats a p4p fighter ???naw
No one who stands toe to toe with Pac wins. No one. You have to out think and out box him, and Valero would just slug it out with him. People who stand toe to toe with him get KTFO. Marquez has that slick counterpunching style that would give pac problems in the past, but now I think Pac would destroy him.
Pac is the ultimate offensive machine. Probably one of the greatest ever offensive boxers, this would have some rounds of the year, pac would beat that wife beating ass.
you guys need to stop hero-worshipping valero. he doesn't deserve it.
he wasn't great, but he was all right. showed more versatility in his last fight than most people expected. for that reason i don't think it's be a hagler-hearns. valero would instinctively attack in the beginning and get flattened like hatton. but he would probably change strategies afterwards like cotto. pac would still win though, probably by mid-late round KO.
I never saw Valero hurt and have seen Pacquiao hurt so I'd have to at least give Valero the puncher's chance. Valero definitely had a lot of defensive problems, but don't forget that Pacquiao's defense is not exactly foolproof. Most of the time Pacquiao's defense is his offense/high work rate. We've seen him get hit by a lot of opponents, even Clottey's slow ass uppercut was landing. I think Roach would probably tell Manny to box given how big of a puncher Valero was and it might be more boring than people think. If Manny boxes Valero he outpoints him pretty easily, if he brawls it's anyone's game ending with a KO before the end of the 7th. Too bad Valero decided to be a complete fa gg ot, we'll never know.
That was early in Manny's career when he was a very young teenager.
Since the 2000's, Manny has been hurt, yes, but here's the difference: He fought Marco Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar Larios, and Agapito Sanchez.
And Valero fought who? Antonio DeMarco? lol, don't make me laugh. That'd be like Manny being undefeated and having KO'd everybody he ever fought but the best win on his resume is David Diaz. When the best win on ur resume is Demarco, your resume isn't impressive.
If you watch Valero fight you will notice something - he's not very good.
Manny is a world class fighter - one of the greats. Valero's chin was never tested so we can't say if he'd be knocked out or not.
If he has a weak chin, he'd get knocked out QUICK.
If he had a good chin, Manny would knock the steel plate out of his head, probably ending Valero's life.
I agree that we never saw Valero's actual chin tested, but what we did see was a guy that suffered one of the worst cuts over the last 10 yrs and actually came on stronger. He looked surpisingly more technical and fluid after that horrible gash than he did before it which is a complete paradox. But all the heart and granite chin in the world wouldn't have saved him from getting thoroughly outclassed by Manny at 135 and especially light welter. Roach would have had Manny throwing those beautiful check-hooks from the southpaw stance and on the reset, Manny would have led with the straight left over-n-over. By the 6th this would have been uncompetitive as Valero would be getting beat to the punch and walked/stalked down. Corner or doctor stoppage not that dissimilar to Pac v. DLH.

Agreed, there are some things you can't forgive someone for and killing your wife (or any woman for that matter) if definitely one of them
