I heard they were in negotiationsafter that fight. If it did go down you think Roy's speed could have messed Lewis up? Hell why didnt they do Jones - Tyson lol that woulda been cool
I don't think so. The closest thing to a decent HW he could've taken out at that point is Byrd. Those guys are just too big. I remember Tua was offered a fight, but his legal trouble screwed up that fight...Just imagine what would have happened if Tua landed a left hook...
heavyweight, and lets be honest here. The reason Byrd never fought Lewis is the same reason Roy didn't. They were both too small to beat him.
Yeah, I'm sure it was because he thought he'd lose, right?
I'm telling you something which you obviously didnt know and your response is .......sarcasm?
Lewis decided to hand in his belt rather than face a court ruling to meet Chris Byrd who despite being the mandatory challenger, did not rate highly on the earning or entertainment scales.
HBO, apparently, did not see the Byrd fight as a big enough attraction, a fact Lewis referred to when he described the prospect of meeting the American as "not attractive enough" in the statement he released explaining his decision to give up the IBF title.

I dunno if you were a fight fan back then but i suspect not. Roy never wanted to fight Lewis, he knew he was waaay to big. Lewis also never wanted to fight Roy as it was pointless. And there was never any real talk of the match up anyway.Roy moved up to create history, he never moved up to compete with someone of Lewis size. But Roy did fancy his chances with a Tyson fight, that would have been great to see.
Jones has said a lot of things, he wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds in there with even a shot Tyson.
Yes, yes he did. I'm just saying Jones was talking about it as the TS didn't seem to know that an actual fight was in the talks (in Jones' corner that is).

no fvckin way.. :) jones wouldve been murdered
Jones Jr wanted to fight Tyson. He said it himself.
Back to your question. Lewis would disrupt Jones' speed advantage by his jab. I don't see how Lewis could lose this.

Lewis vacted his IBF belt to avoid facing Byrd, who was his mandatory at the time

it was Lewis who turned down the fight snubbing a $35 million + PPV offer from HBO saying he had nothing to prove by fighting a middleweight.
Source? I'm sure you have one.
Well when you pay someone millions of dollars not to fight you, there aint really much argument.
Again this would be a long argument and I'm too tired right now. I'll debate this with you another day but there is more to it than that. I'm sure you know that as well.
I don't agree, but that's another argument (very long one at that) for another day.
Well when you pay someone millions of dollars not to fight you, there aint really much argument.
Lewis would of just landed an uppercut and Roy Jones would of been the first blackman on the moon.
Yeah I can only imagine. Tyson is my favorite fighter of all-time but that uppercut Lennox landed on him was nasty.
Because I could give 2 ****s about red K? I say what I believe knowing damn well it will get me red k. I knew all the British Lennox fans with a blind loyalty to their phony champion would come out of the woodwork to defend their hero and hit me with red k, and I didn't think twice about red k because I would rather speak the truth and be red than not and be green.
Believe what you want about Lennox Lewis, those who know boxing and followed his career know the truth about Lennox and he is not what his British followers believe him to be. He is a phony champion who never fought fighters at their best. He waited until they were shot, or outright never fought them - that's the way history will remember him, unlike Roy Jones, who will be remembered as an ATG and arguably a top 20 P4P atg.
Jones' technique, skills, and overall boxing ability FAR trumps Lennox Lewis.
And to the idiot that brought up Vitali taking right hands - How can you compare Vitali to Roy? One stands there like Dr. Roboto and moves like the Terminator and the other is an out of this world freakshow of power and speed that the boxing world has never seen before.
Roy Jones Jr. is far greater than Lennox, will be remembered as such, and has a great chance of knocking Lennox out had they ever fought when Roy was fighting at heavy.
Tyson wanted no parts of Lennox.
