Was it just me or was that the best jab we've seen in a while? I mean he was putting it between anythingggg Devon tried to throw at him.
Than you got his defense. Now he's the only one who has survived Maidana's onslaught for one but in the Alexander fight I don't think Alexander was able to land 1 punch without without missing his other 5 to 8. Whether Kotelnik had his gloves up and that's all Alexander could touch, or if he was simply moving his head out of the way, his defense was just as awesome.
Peterson vs Kotelnik is a logical undercard fight IMO.
Kotelnik deserves it for his fight with Alex and Peterson deserves it for his fight with Bradley. Peterson showed as much toughness as you can in that fight. He never backed down.
Anyone who's seen Kotelnik fight knows that's his style. Hide in the shell, throw out the jab, sometimes he doubles up. A couple overhand rights, and back in the shell.
He didn't beat Maidana, the judges just scored it that way. It was a "home" victory, for Kotelnik in exactly the same way Alexander's was a "home" victory.
On neutral territory, Maidana beats Kotelnik, and Kotelnik beats Alexander.
Watch his fight vs Rees. One of the most entertaining fights in the last few years and Kotelnik throws 4-5 punch combo's the entire fight.
Hold on here TS, Kotelnik is nothing special. He's a good european fighter. That's it. His jab and defense were useless against world class Amir Khan. Amir Khan has better defense and jab than Kotelbitch. Kotelnik is an OK fighter who exposed a young green fighter. Devon is still good but needs to learn and work a lot to get to the next level. Devon is partly a hype job coz people expected too much from him. I say partly coz i definitely believe he has the talent to be a top 10 P4P one day. He just need to correct things and work a lot.
Let's not forget Khan destroyed this guy, and many think he got a gift decision over Maidana. He's 32 years old also. I don't get the hype. This guy had his chance, and lost to M'baye, and Witter. His day is over.
I thought he won, but seriously.... Nothing to fret over. He's not world class.
If you want to be like that then :
Kotelnik = World Class
Ortiz, Alexander = Ameribums.
Dzinziruk still has perhaps the best jab imo.
Let's not forget Pirog destroyed this guy, and many think he got a gift decision over Maidana. He's 32 years old also. I don't get the hype. This guy had his chance, and lost to M'baye, and Witter. His day is over.

He's an elite 140lber who would give any of them trouble.
Have you seen those fights? Kotelnik gets the best of M'Baye and is atleast even with Witter and gets the short end of the stick.
The only fight he deserves to have a Loss in was the Khan fight and even then Khan just played a stick and move game.
I think Khans jab is a better all purpose weapon but Kotelnik's is great his defense is so hard to get past. Maidana managed to hurt Kotelnik quite a few times. Kotelniks defense is the reason he was left standing.

That's cause styles make fights. Speed kills everything, especially Amir's speed. He's been out pointing people since his days as an Amateur based on his speed alone.
The timing of Kotelniks jab was world class though, and how he got his gloves up and avoided any unnecessary punishment was world class as well. I'd be willing to bet he'd give all the names at 140 a legitimate tough fight just because of how clever he performs in general.

Oh so maybe this was some karma than :lol1:
But I think Kotelnik not getting steam rolled by Marcos is a testament in itself.
And I agree @ Devon not having any head movement. But I don't even think Alexander could have head movement and avoid that jab. It was being shot out before Alexander had a chance to reset and move.

The peek-a-boo defense served him well.
Jab was well timed.
It also helped that Alexander didn't move his head well.
