just how bad is it at 140?
Has moving up in weight improved it, or is it still as fragile as it was at 135?
Obviously you can't do much about a chin, but its not gonna help if you're weight drained. the best example is probably Cotto - one minute he's getting staggered by Corley/Torres at 140 then he can take mosley's right hands at 147
its still shocking to see him getting wobbled by a prescott jab :wow:
:boxing:
I'm not sure about khans chin, I don't think anyone can know for sure (including khan and roach) until he gets tagged by a genuinely big puncher at 140.
Khan and Roach are making the right noises, Khan himself said recently in an interview that if people think he's chinny then they should step up and try to knock him out. The only problem is that picking fights like Malignaggi or chasing older lighter fighters like Marquez instead of facing the big fighters in your weight division doesn't really back up their apparent belief.
Ultimately nobody will know until he's in there with a puncher again.. Like the previous poster said, Cotto was wobbled a few times at 140 but looks a lot stronger at 147 when he hasn't got to drain to make weight. Maybe Amir Khan is the same. I hope Khan backs up his apparent belief in his chin and steps up to take a risk, that's the only way he's going to put his "chinny" reputation to bed
The proof is the puddin'. Team Kan's actions indicate that their 'apparent belief' is that Khan has a glass jaw.
ive seen khan since his early days in the aba's in britain , before he was ever weight drained , he never took a good shot , craig watson floored him heavily and he was dropped multiple times ,but has always been an outstanding boxer
trouble is, if he fights maidana, and doesn't get hit at all by a big punch and completely outboxes him, there'll still be a question mark there.
He should do a mayorga - stand there and point his chin out
Yeah I totally agree, the only way he's going to put this to bed is to get tagged hard, maybe even wobbled then see what he's made of at this weight.
Lol not to say he needs to do it on purpose.. It will happen though sooner or later we will find out what his chin is like at this weight.
Maybe get in there with Maidana, drop his hands and go toe to toe...lol that will make or break the chinny reputation :boxing:

People never stop to realize why his chin was so shaky. It was his legs and his inability to make 135, two things Ariza and Roach corrected. So I believe there's been an improvement.
