Some fans need to get a clear understanding on what a ROBBERY is. Losing a close fight isnt a ROBBERY, but beating a fighter majority of the the rounds and losing is a ROBBERY.
Last night's fight between Alexander & Kotelnik was a close fight and IMO could've went either way. I had Alexander clearly winning the majority of the rounds the first half of the fight. Kotelnik's pressure style was taking a toll on Alexander and he clearly won the majority of the rounds the second half of the fight. No fighter IMO was getting beat clearly so the fight could've went either way or been a draw. I didnt agree with none of the score cards last night and thought the fight was way closer. Both fighters fought a sloppy fight and didnt impress me not one bit.
Alex had home court advantage and pulled it off at the end. That goes to show you, "never leave your fate in the judges hands"...just never know what can happen..
Max Kellerman kept saying the way to score is "who would you have rather of been that round" lol that's not how you score rounds though!
Max generally qualifies when he says that is not really how you should score rounds, but it is the whole thing about how everyone scores fights differently because it is based on what a person likes.
Max likes guys who do more damage.
Lederman likes guys who push the action
Merchant likes guys that take care of his bloodlust.
All three are kind of the same but can be very different in any one fight.
People do look at fight judging as very cut and dry though when it is not an easy task.
To be frank i dont give a toss what anyone else think about my scorecard i scored it 7-5 to alexander on first viewing on a stream, I feel Kotelnik was more effective but he didnt push enough to take the win.
He had alexander in trouble so many times but he let him get away with it, I dont blame anyone who scores it to Kotelnik either but on my card Alexander just did enough to keep his belts.
watch it again bro, am sure youl change youre mind
Thats what i hate about these boards, the fight was very close IMO and i wouldnt question anyone that actually scored it to either fighter, I myself had it to alexander but Kotelnik could have got it too especially watching it from a stream etc
A stream would make it easier to score for Alexander, who was hitting arms on a lot of his punches.
I understand the workrate thing too, but Kotelnik landed a lot more than a few clean punches each round. he landed several.
Exactly,Kotelnik would land two, three SOLID punches a round, and people think that grants him to win the fight? Cumon man, even if Alexander is missing alot, hes still outworking him,u gotta take the title,if this was the case,Margarito beat Paul Williams then? NOpe
This would be fair if Kotelnik landed maybe 2 or 3 solid punches, but he landed several each round. Every jab seemed to flush on Alexander's face.
Even in the rounds Alexander won early, Kotelnik was landing well timed jabs that snapped Alexander's head back.
You do realize most of the people talking shit saw the fight from a piss poor stream which is no way to judge a fight, and why doe a play by play guys score matter that much, scoring is in the eye of the beholder and having Kotelnik winning is fine as the fight wasn't clear cut.
I don't care what anyone other than the judges and myself have to say, it was a close fight and the judge score fell within the realm of acceptability (the fight could have went 8-4 either way) so I don't care that much about argueing the scores since everything is fine with me.

Bob Papa had the fight going to Kotelnik. :boxing:

are u kidding me dude???
You do know that 1 punch can end a fight right?
A guy could dominate a guy through 99% of a fight. He could land 500 power shots and 300 jabs. The other guy could land 0 punches.
All it takes is one shot from the guy who landed nothing for him to with the fight by knockout.
Which is wrong.
Not necessarily. Someone can land 30 "power shots" in a round, and a counter jab could be landed knocking the guy down who landed 30 "power shots"
Compubox for that round:
Powershot guy: 30/40 "power shots", 10/50 "jabs"
Jab guy: 0/10 "power shots", 1/15 "jabs"
Score
Powershot guy: 9
Jab guy: 10
are u kidding me dude???
Judging from ringsideand judging from TV are two completely diferent things, activity goes a long ways in person because it is hard to tell what is always cleanly landed (especially when the crowd goes crazy).
It was a difficult fight to score on tv because you had to pick and choose what you liked, although generally people on here go with activity so that is suprising but it was close enough to be up to the eye of the beholder and it is tough to win against a much more active guy in their home town on the cards.
What is funny are the people that argued for Carl Froch beating Dirrell now arguing that Alexander did nothing to win. :blackeye:

just from your title alone, a close fight is never simple..............
I gave Alexander 4 out of the first 6 rounds (he landed some good body shots, and I think landed more overall the first half). I gave Kotelnik the last 6 rounds.
Alexander was just hitting gloves and air the entire 2nd half of the fight.
Basically u had it close which could've been a draw. If you gave him 4 that means he could've won 5. And if you gave Kotelnik the last 6 that means he could've really won 5 which leaves 2 rounds up in the air...thats all im saying...the fight was close...people with these loopsided score cards kill me...I had Alexander winning the whole fight or the other dude winning the whole fight...i dont know what fight these dudes was watching..
and once again, judges dnt necessarily score on whos shots were more effective
Which is wrong.
and i kno wat a power shot is. regardless, it counts for more than a jab.

It was a robbery, and Alexander hardly landed any punches.
He threw more, landed less, and looked like he got beat up.
:bottle:
lol, the bottle must be for u, im not the one whining. im trying to rationalize with u fools. but i guess this is just how u dudes are. well, whatever.
Kotelnik's power shots were far more effective, as were his jabs (which he landed more of).
Power shots are anything that is not a jab. Most of the jabs landed by Kotelnik were cleaner and more effective than a majority of Alexander's power shots...
and once again, judges dnt necessarily score on whos shots were more effective, and i kno wat a power shot is. regardless, it counts for more than a jab.
Alexander didn't land shit, lol.
And he did bust him up, he cut his eye, swelled his face, and bloodied his nose and mouth.
He landed AT WILL.
Alexander hit a bunch of air, some elbow and gloves while wasting a whole bunch punches.
Keep making excuses. Alexander is a k.o waiting to happen.
dude, dnt talk shit without lookin at the stats. the stats clearly show him landing more power punches. if ur gonna act like u kno how to judge a fight, then make sure u kno what ur seeing. he hit koltenik, even if koltenik's shots were the cleaner shots. and i aint makin excuses im just tired of this whole "it was a robbery" shit. to the ppl on this forum, every fight is a robbery. understand what the hell a robbery is, the judges werent the only ppl who had alexander winning, look around the web.
he didnt bust alexander up...the cut was cause by a head butt. and even if he threw less, and landed more, a lot of the shots he landed were jabs whereas alexander landed more power punches.
