OMG, why is everybody hatin' Devon over 1 fight?

Devon lost points with me last night. He looked so one dimensional. 1-2 all night, no variety. I though he did win by a slight margin. He was not as effective as kotelink though.

So it's ok to catapult a young fighter into boxing super stardom after 1 fight, but it's not ok to criticize someone after 1 fight? Bit of a double standard no? :thinking:

I think people are pissed that he lost the fight, and is still getting a big fight, while Kotelnik fights an excellent fight and now no one will fight him, with the excuse, that he "lost" his last fight.

I mean come on. Even the greatest fighters have had bad fights before. Look at Pacs last fight. Or bothfights with Marquez. Look at Floyd vs Castillo. See Maidana vs Ortiz. What I'm saying is that its not always going to be pretty. But as long as you win, everything is good. ON SECOND THOUGHT: Why is it that when Floyd literally blows an opponent out (i.e. Marquez) everyone says its boring basically because Floyd didn't get touched. Yet, Devon does get touched and all of a sudden he's not that good. I mean, ol Clottey scuffed Pac up back in March and he's still god to miost of yall. Yet devon get a little scuffed up and he's not good...smh. Do yall want competitive fights or blowouts? Alexander looked terrible!!!! He was getting countered and timed all night against a slow fighter that came straight forward. A fighter like Khan that is a good boxer,fast and with power would give him all kinds ofproblems. I was not impressed at all by Bradley and he showed a lot of flaws.

I think he lost, but will be back, better in his next fight. I do think people are hating on him, because his ignorant ass trainer has been acting like he is god, and shitting on everyone in the division, and then Alexander sucks against Kotelnik, and gets a bad decision in his favor.

Alexander needs a new trainer IMO. I like the fact that Cunningham gives him immediate advice(With emphasis), but the kid gets hit way too much. Much more than someone with his gifts should. No head movement, and his upper body movement isn't good either. Even in the Urango fight Alexander was getting hit back. People just get distracted by all of this because he gets pretty knock downs and knockouts

It doesn't matter. When dudes are only fighting every 5-7 months, you're only as good as your last fight. The Urango fight is out the window now. Kotelnik made Alexander look average, so if he comes back, and beats Bradley then people will be all over him. Live with it. In boxing you can only judge someone off of there most recent fight. The layoffs are to long. Look at an NFL team for example. You judge them from season to season. You don't just have one bad season, and say oh they did great the season before. He has some things he needs to work on obviously, he is 23 not 33 so Alexander still has room to grow and he has yet to even reach is Peak or Prime as a fighter, only thing he showed in that fight against Kotelnik is that he has Heart and a good Chin, other then that Kevin Cunningham needs to get back to the basics with Alexander, especially defensively, he was just taking way too many punches Alexander still has the talent and the ability to beat anyone in that 140 division, but the way he fought last night...if he continues to fight like that then they all probably would stop him

When the future P4P king, according to many of the posters here and even the HBO crew, loses and gets beaten up badly in his hometown to a 9-1 underdog, there is going to be criticism. Comparing this fight to Pac/Clottey or Pac/Marquez is utter stupidity. It doesn't even merit discussion beyond that really. I mean come on. IMO His flaws was exposed and there were alot of umm.He is not ready to fight a Bradley and I think alot of people know this now...You bring up Pac and Floyd those are well established fighters.Devon kinda got big with his KO of Urango but what has he really done.I must say Bradley has fought the harder and tougher opposition.Khan and Devon went up the ranks without fighting as tough fighters.Devon fought a world class opponent last night and was exposed to some degree(Don't you think?)Kottie is not as good as Bradley or Khan so what are we to think??
