Not named Mayweather or Pacquiao.
After watching Cloud and Alexander be exposed as hype jobs, I think it's cemented Dawson's position as the best in boxing. That is if things go how I expect them to next week. If he grabs another victory in dominating fashion, he needs to be ranked as p4p#3.
He's the best pure boxer, slick, great puncher, a ton of heart, and a semi-good chin. He'll be p4p#1 soon.
How tall is was the guy Williams lost too?
Do you even watch Williams? He RARELY uses his height?
Again what are the height limits on boxing. You still havent told me.
5'10, but I'm confused about what exactly William's mediocre boxing skills has to do with him taking advantage of smaller fighters?
It's becoming increasingly difficult, but yes, I watch Williams.
I answered your question a page back genius. :dunce:
Were you not just arguing that Paul couldn't add 15LBS to a 6'3 frame because it'd make him "fat"? Don't try and back track with the "eventually" nonsense now.
Burner, stop with this "you only watch Floyd nonsense". You're an infamous fanboy/idiot, quit with the charades.
Neither of which are 6'3. Try and answer the questions presented son.
I'll show you.
There are no height limits in boxing, but there is something stunningly pathetic about a 6'3 fighter preying on tremendously smaller fighters.

Great discussion. :You_Rock_
My issue with Paul Williams is, he's made a living of poaching on tremendously smaller fighters. There's no reason a 6'3 fighter should be challenging fighters who are 5'7, it's a complete and utter mismatch. Thus, he shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as fighters like Chad Dawson, who's actually fighting fighters his size.
In my opinion, Williams shouldn't be fighting under 160. With his size, if he's as good as some people believe, he should be able to compete at 168. Though in my opinion, he'd be easily knocked out by the elite fighters.
I understand your POV, and it's one that has become increasingly common.
I still believe that if you can make the weight, you can fight at the weight. It's taking advantage of the system a bit, but it is a bit of a risk that the fighter is taking, as cutting a lot of weight could back fire.
When you said around 6'3, I thought I might give it a shot. :lol1:
Fair enough though, I see your points.

who in the HELL ever said Cloud or Alexander was the "BEST"
Bradley is the best at 140 and Chad Dawson is the best 175...PERIOD, that is how I always felt and I am a die hard Alexander fight but I like Timothy Bradley as well and I think at 26 he is more seasoned then the rest at 140 RIGHT NOW!
Alexander is still has a great future and will go on to do big things no matter what a few people on this Forum thinks about him, what should Alexander just retire? he is 23 can he not improve? the guy has a lot of talent and a lot of skills to work with he just need to work on his defense and his head movement dude showed HEART and a strong chin against Kotelnik, hate on him now all you want but Alexander will be around for a LONG TIME
as for Cloud, I never thought he was on Dawson level, this was his first big test and he got the win but he still has a lot of things to work on as well but to be fair to him, what have you seen ANYONE just run over Glen Johnson, that man is a Old Warrior, he brings the BEST out of EVERYONE he fights
Panama Al Brown and Celestino Caballero are both 5'10-5'11, and I don't sweat PAB as much as I do current fighters because knowledge on health and nutritional science were primitive in his time(70 years ago). It was much harder to lose and gain the weight you wanted, all the while maintaining speed and quickness, while adding power and durability.
Caballero definitely needs to move up in my opinion though.
There's a tremendous difference between 6'1 and 6'3, but I acknowledge your point.

TBH, off the top of my head, I can't.
I do know that there have been fighters in the past (and present) who have weighed as low as 118 and being upwards of 5'11, which is comparable.
Panama Al Brown and Celestino Caballero being the two that come to mind, though Al Brown fought many, many years ago.
EDIT: Is 6'1 close enough to 6'3 for you? Angel Granados and Ali Funeka come to mind.....Granados is 6'1 and has fought as low at SFW. Off the top of my head, that's what I got for you.

Key word...
Eventually.
I knwo you only watch Floyd but there is a guy named Ali Funeka and Cellestino Caballero.
Cab is at 126 and Funeka is at 135. Both tall as shit. Go watch more boxing.
Now again what is the height limit for JMW, WW and MW?
Please tell me.

That's true, and I understand that(even though I hate fights with severe size discrepancies), but do me a favor if you will. List as many athletes as you can, not just boxers, who are around 6'3 and weigh less than 160. My bet is that you can't name more than 5, because it isn't natural, and in most cases, it's unhealthy.

Hearn's was smaller than Williams. Williams has superior reach, is lankier, longer wing span, etc. Furthermore, Hearn's eventually fought north of 160, weighing in as high as 190 for bouts.

I like how you tried to change the subject of the argument because you're incapable of arguing the point at hand.
But we can both play this game.
How many fighters at 6'3 have ever fought below 154, which Williams has?
I'll wait.
How about Hearns?
Whats the height limit for the following weight classes:
WW
JMW
MW
Thanks in advance.

It ended up close either way but you had to know if it was close they were going to go with Cloud but the 112-116 scores across the board told me that they all had their cards printed out a week before the fight.
Still what does this do for Cloud really? I don't think he impressed anyone and looked very inexperienced. To me he looked much like Shumenov with a bit more pop.
I think Chad would beat Cloud, but with Cloud's power and Dawson's style of not being a pressure fighter there's always that chance he lowers the boom on Dawson. He had Johnson hurt bad and I thought that was one thing he did to raise some eyebrows. But the dude's stamina is overrated because he took rounds off during the fight and seemed to be in survival mode after Johnson rocked him in the twelfth.
To be fair Hannibal, many fighters now cut a lot of weight and fight smaller guys in that respect or fight guys that much smaller than them in terms of reach, height, etc.

Perhaps you should recalculate, because 15 lbs is far less than 30, and completely manageable for someone with a 6'1-6'3 frame.
Cabllero isn't north of 6'1, and doesn't have the same frame as Williams. Not comparable in the least.
Plenty of athletes easily throw on 15lbs of solid muscle, maintain their speed and quickness, all the while becoming stronger and more durable. It's simple with a good strength and conditioning coach. As I said, athletes do it all the time.
6'3 175 is fat? Then why aren't Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell, Tovaris Cloud, Lucian Bute, Chad Dawson, and tons of others fat? Don't even get me started on the horde of Football players who are chiseled at 6'3 220 and above.
No, what I wanna see is Paul Williams fighting fighters his size. Not challenging people who are 5'8-5'10.

Show me when I said he was more skilled than Pac.
Are you fukking stupid? Pack 30 Pounds on Williams? Whats next? Lets Pack 20 Pounds on Caballero and put him at 154.
Where the hell do you people come from?
This dude weighed in at 157 for 160 and 152 for 154 but you want him at 175 Pounds to fought guys like Dawson who blow up to 185 Plus?
No one just goes out and throws on 30 pounds for the hell of it. If you knew anything about him you would know that hes able to weigh so low because of his metabolism.
Who the fukk wants to watch a fat Paul Williams. Damn you people are stupid.

This dude is a fucking joke.
Dawson-Johnson 1 ring a fucking bell?
Wait let me guess you're going to tell me that Glen Johnson is better than Martinez now.
Clown.
He has a better resume than Martinez does even though he's got a lot of losses he should've gotten the benefit of the doubt with. But yeah, you're right. Some of these people have horrible double standards.
Its too bad that Cloud won but didn't really make a statement, I had him up 7-5 but it easily could have been a draw.
If he won more impressively it would really have made him look threatening to Dawson.
I had Johnson beating the kid's ass. His face looked like it had been through a meat grinder, and after 8 rounds it was even. I had Johnson winning the ninth round with those peppering punches while Cloud was doing nothing. The tenth since he cut Cloud over his eye. The 11th was a Cloud round. And I thought Johnson won the twelfth round. I thought Cloud shoulda lost.
Do you know what tangibles are? If you did, you'd know it entailed far more than skill.
Yes, gain some weight. Williams has the frame to add sufficient enough weigh to fight at Middle, Super Middle, and Light Heavy. He however chooses to prey on significantly smaller fighters. It's pathetic.
Do you even know what you're typing? I clearly stated Williams has the frame to add weight.
You just said Williams was more skilled than Pac, and you're going to insult someones boxing IQ? **** outta here.
To be fair Hannibal, many fighters now cut a lot of weight and fight smaller guys in that respect or fight guys that much smaller than them in terms of reach, height, etc.
