I would have loved to see this fight.I think a prime Hoya would have beat Cotto maybe even stop him.Wanted to know what some of you boxing fan thought who you got in this fantasy match up.
prime de la hoya would have been a major problem for any top ww. one of the best jabs and left hooks ive ever seen.. i would favor him over any of todays top ww and jr mw. that includes mayweather, pacquiao, and cotto.
Why would he run against Cotto in the final rounds? Cotto is not a strong finisher.
Matter of fact you can say that Cotto would run in the final rounds against Oscar. Like he did against Mosley, Marg, and Pac
In his prime Cotto was a good finisher, not great but he didn't start gassing til the Mosley fight of which I think he just didn't want to slug it out more than out of energy. Also, Oscar wasn't a great late finisher at all by any means as well.
I can't believe how overrated Oscar is, period. Also anyone saying Tito had good boxing skills... BWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! That's possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life, all he was, was a tall stalker who followed his opponents around with good power. A boxer has the ability to at least get passed a jab, that's all Winky did the ENTIRE fight when they fought and Trinidad looked like Margarito in that fight just following him around. Tito and Oscar are both HIGHLY overrated.
Oscar would also have a tough time with Cotto, easy decision my ass. Oscar has 6 or 7 losses for a reason, just like every other fighter who has 5+ losses. Granted, he beat Tito but he found a way to lose the fight, same with the Mosley fights and the Floyd fight. Oscar gave us intensely exciting fights which is all I can ask for about a guy but seriously, stomping Cotto get real people. He never steamrolled anyone and he wouldn't pressure Cotto down, I see it as a close fight but I'm sure Oscar would find a way to lose it.
prime hoya wouldve ran................the final rounds........................and loss.........lol

Oscar by KO in rds 9 to 11. He was bigger, stronger, better chin, better boxer and more powerful. Cotto literally would have no advantages.
Fair enough......but im talking about the "Miguel Cotto persona" i know this guy will fight anyone without excuses........arum on the other hand......
Agreed LMAO...
I think Cotto has a good resume, but anyone anywhere...Can't agree with that..

Every time Oscar would step up the competition, he lost. Prime Cotto was a beast and a stalker with a great jab and wonderful low body work. For some reason here in NSB, every modern boxer losses to past, retired boxers. Prime vs Prime or even late in their careers, Cotto would take him out
I really like Cotto, the guy has a lot a balls (in a era of a lot of pu$$y fighters), fights anyone, anywhere........but i just dont see him winning this one........Oscar has too much skill

I dare say Cotto is a level above Tito in the boxing skills department. Tito relied HEAVILY on his serious power at 147, his skills were decent at best. He was also tall for a WW which helped.
I think this is not as much as a wash as people think. The Cotto that beat Mosley (past prime but still good) would have lasted all 12 rounds and could have easily caused Hoya problems with his jab and deceptive hand speed.
dude, DLH at his prime had possibly top 5 jabs of all time! WTF are u talking about Cotto's jab!!!! And DLH's speed is most def above Cotto's.
DLH no doubt...people can hate him all they want but Oscar at his prime at 147 was on point! In my eyes, as well as many others, Oscar really only lost to Mosley at 147. And there was controversy concerning Mosley and balco. Anyway, DLH blazes Cotto in 11.

I have to disagree with you about Cotto being a level above Tito in the skills department..Tito could box bro,he was a risk taker tho which is why he almost always ended up on the canvas..
I think Cotto timing was/is one of his best weapons..But Hoya had timing and Hoya also had a way better Jab..I really can't see Cotto giving Hoya any problems tbh,Hoya just seems to be better in every area..I like Cotto but I could not see him beating Hoya I'd givehim a better shot at beating Tito tho..
DLH puts a boxing clinic like he did against Tito.
