Who had a better career Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield? I have been watching previous fights of them the last few days and even watched their fight against each other that resulted in a draw. Do not put into consideration Holyfield now because all he is fighting for is a pay check.
you guys act as if Holyfield never fought below Heavyweight.
and despite him 'ruining' his career by fighting on, the man (somehow) deserved a decision over Valuev when they fought. and Valuev is a top 10 fighter in todays division.
I dont see how a career full of success is 'ruined' by loses way after your prime. Dont get me wrong, I would really prefer if Holyfield was retired, but in reality anything you can pull off when youre way past your best is just icing on the cake, loses shouldnt really count after that.
Holyfield definitely has better resume, but H2H it's a tough call. Lewis beat Holyfield, but Holyfield was past his prime then (his prime was from 1986 to 1993) while Lewis was at his best in 1999. And though Lewis won first fight easily, their second fight was very close. Actually, Larry Holmes, Roy Jones Jr, both Klitschko's and Chris Byrd all thought that Holyfield deserved the win in that fight.
Lennox had the best career of any Heavyweight.
Defeated every single name on his resume'
Tyson, Klitschko, Holyfield, Bowe and avenged all of his losses. Hard to top that....
at Heavyweight only? Lewis.
considering their entire careers, its Holyfield. I mean, apart from having a stellar Heavyweight career, he is the best Cruiserweight of all time with wins over Carlos DeLeon(the second best Cruiserweight of all time) and Ossie Ocasio and Dwight Muhammed Qawi, who are also some of the best Cruiserweights ever.
Lewis had the better title run and avenged his two losses, so I say him.
However, Holyfield had the more exciting career considering all the ups and downs. He always came back when you least expected it, scoring upset wins over Mercer, Bowe II, and of course Tyson. He thought he a dead man being fed to Tyson.
Holyfield's career was more fairy-tale, Hollywood-like, but Lewis had the better career and better reign. Man, he was just so dominant. Lewis and Holyfield are two of my all-time favorites.
They Both fought the Best of their time.
Holy : Moore, Bowe, Mercer, Cooper, Foreman, & etc
Lewis : Morrison, Briggs, Klitschko, Tua, Golota.
I say Holyfield has the better opposition. But Hey Lewis fought the best of his time as well. I say they're both significant in their own ways. Lewis defeating all his opponents. Holyfield didn't but, neither ducked anybody. Except Lewis when he was coming to an end against Klitschkos. That said they are both great fighters. Both ATGs! But I say Holyfield. Lewis is a BEAST though.
That's easy. Lennox' career is better by a huge margin. Who did Holyfield beat, what's his claim to fame? Beating a faded Tyson? Getting whipped by Bowe, the same Bowe who got exposed by Golota and who ran from Lewis? Or maybe Holyfield's best showing was beating up former middle weight Moorer? LOL
Lewis is leagues above Holyfield. Holyfield is loved, he has a persona that makes boxing fans take his side. He's a warrior, he has heart. But his career is full of question marksa and holes. Add his personal problems and his bankruptcy on top, he simply isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
