After rewatching the fight, i have to say i enjoyed his style, he seems very basic, but very tough, takes a few too many shots, but he was enjoyable.
When they did the post fight interview i swore he was going to say "if he dies, he dies"
I don't usually jump on the bandwagon this early, but I enjoyed watching him and may see if i can find some older fights to see if enjoy those fights as well.
Well first of all the santioning body can push for a purse bid according to their rules but when do they ever follow their own rules. In the case of Angulo and Dziniruk they both have Gary Shaw as their promoter so as soon as he sees fit he can put the two together if its mutually beneficial for both fighters. Until then Angulo can defend his interim title but if he was to loss to someone like James Kirkland then of course Dziniruk would face Kirkland for the championship.
Back to Golovkin if he wins his next fight and Sturm wins then the WBA will push for a purse bid if they can not work out a deal.
lol so Shaw never has to make him fight Dzinziruk and won't.
I would not mind seeing him against Macklin or N'Jikam. I would also be very pleased to see him fight Anthony Mundine
N'jikam is one of the toughest on the list and him and Golovkin have had some verbal jabs. Golovkin Njikam may happen, either would be epic.
Mundine wouldn't do it. He knows better
lol he already ducked Golovkin
I know he would not, but he is on my list of people that I want to beat up in the most demeaning manner.
lmao same and that's why i was so heartbroken when he punked out against Golovkin.

I'm hoping that Golovkin will get to unify with Sturm after this next fight.
It's an interim so how does that work cuz Angulo for example is the WBO interim but hasn't been made to unify with Dzinziruk? that should be a priority but they seem to have no problem letting that shit drag out?

Here's the WBO top 15, lots of interesting potention matchups
1 Daniel Jacobs (NABO) USA
2 Dmitry Pirog (Asia-Pacific) RUS
3 Gennady Golovkin KAZ
4 Gennady Martirosyan (WBO Europe) ARM
5 Fernando Guerrero (NABO Int.) DR
6 Maksym Bursak (Int-Cont) UKR
7 Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam CAM
8 Anthony Mundine AUST
9 Avtandil Khurtsidze GEO
10 Mathew Macklin GB
11 Khoren Gevor GER
12 Lajuan Simon USA
13 Daniel Geale AUST
14 Joey Gilbert USA
15 Roman Karmazin
Good list!!
how do you keep prospects away from the champion, sooner or later somebodies going to want a shot, and with Martinez and Pirog as champs everybody will be surely beating down Felix Sturms door. Non-Traditional European fighter with head movement in Pirog or the slick southpaw Argentian Martinez, or the guy that screwed by Oscar and knocked out by Javier Castillejo
I'm hoping that Golovkin will get to unify with Sturm after this next fight.

Anyway, while I am a long standing fan of Pirog, he still has got a lot to prove. Not yet time to go against the very elite of the division. He needs a couple of fights against solid guys who can take a punch and give one as well.
Cant prove much, there's only Martinez and Sturm. If he can beat Martinez he's the man but I guess thats will be his defying fight b/c I think he will blitz Sturm
Lots of guys like that in the WBO's rankings if you go past the first 5 or so.
Next fight will be against a vet, a slightly better than Kofi Jantuah.
Maybe Lajuan Simon or someone who's been beaten but is solid.

Guerrero would be a good fight, though now I think they are going to keep prospects away from Pirog.
He will probably get someone in the top 15 of the WBO's rankings now.
I think his first fight as champ will be against someone not too dangerous before he fights his mandatory there.
I thought him versus Gennady Golovkin would have been a good fight but Golovkin is going for an interim WBA title.
It still feels weird he is the WBO champ.
I mean man.

he shoulder rolled his way INTO exchanges instead of using it as a pure defensive tactic...
im on the wagon :D
Lolz. One of those rare breeds that can take some to give some as well.
couldn't agree with you more, 2 say he's the truth is overkill at the moment but to deny Pirog has skills is ridickulous... Pirog should defend the title against Fernando Guerrerro, that would be exciting. I hope he fights often and gets more TV time but something tells me he will be on showtime or espn next.
Or Andy Lee perhaps although i'm not sure if Stewart would be too enthusiastic about that.
yeah, I was impressed with how calm and cool he was in the ring, he really did make the fight seem effortless for him. Adding to that it was his first time fighting in the US, on a big stage like that makes it even more impressive. He was even talkin trash or taunting jacobs in Russian a couple times in there. hehe not something you'd expect from a guy in his particular situation!
Once or twice Jacobs landed flush on Pirog and Pirog's responce was to smile from ear to ear, not the most encouraging thing lol
I wouldn't say he's basic, I think his style is complex and very difficult to figure out.
I want to jump on the badwagon but already some idiots are calling him the next great thing, which is a huge turn off.
I'll look forward to his next fight though for sure, but I'm not going to sit here and say he can beat so and so.
