Such a perfect shot set up by all the body movement/footwork...Still dunno why jacobs let pirog walk him down into the ropes, he could have avoided that shot
check out omar henry about 2 rows back (in the JERSEY SHORE T-shirt). dude was looking down texting on his phone alot, so much so that he missed the pirog right hand/near-KD in the 2nd round, and the final right hand to end it in the 5th LOL.
what a waste, he missed the best punches of the fight!
Jacobs showed he's a fairly easy fighter to "read" I think.
He''ll have to improve on disguising punches, he's like a middleweight Vic Darchiniyan but perhaps not as drastic as Darchiniyan.
That was his main problem. Pirog is awkward and somewhat difficult to hit. He's not THAT hard to hit. Jacobs made him look like Mayweather in there at times because he kept throwing 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4.
jacobs is only 23yrs old it was to early for title fight like that.
you cant take nothing away from the other guy he came ready for war.
and at the end of the day it worked
It might have been a little early because he's been fighting tomato cans. He looked intimidated to me very early on. I missed the Ishe fight and that was his only real "test" so I don't know if he's usually like that. At some point you have to step up. Maybe Pirog was a lot better than Golden Boy expected, but that was for a belt. At that point you have to be ready for anything.
I like Pirogs awkward movement, he was really throwing Jacobs off and hurt him with the first flush shot he landed.
He hit Jacobs with that shot in the 2nd and shook him to his boots, I had a feeling he'd get KO'd after that.
GBP thought Pirog was an easy guy to beat and grab a strap, they miscalculated miserably.

Pirog looked strong from the start. Danny could've covered up and rolled away from the ropes as soon as he sensed Pirog closing in, but it was too late.
He said it himself, he didn't see it coming.
I dont think Jacobs was outclassedm he was fighting well even though he was struggling. Pirog was very strong in there as honestly even though hes much better skilled than Maidana, his performance leading up to the knockout was similar in fashion. Not style wise but he pressured and took shots to get in and land his right. Which was devastating, you could see jacobs hurt every time it landed...Its like he knew jacobs couldnt handle his power. I still believe he was fighting well until he was caught, and if they rematched in say 3 to 4 fights I believe Jacobs would return the favor.
Doubtful. Pirog was in seek and destroy mode and was on Jacobs like flies on shit. From the start it looked like Pirog was born to be a fighter and Jacobs was taught to be one. Jacobs didn't fight like he loves it. If they were to fight again, Pirog would knock him out again.
Jacobs is all hype. Who was he kidding trying to switch to southpaw?

It was different. Khan engaged in a exchange he lost, Jacobs was outclassed and KOed, that simple.
Jacobs wasn't ready yet, should have been in their with Fernando Guerrero and not Pirog. Pirog's record is a bit deceiving, and he fights like a man on a mission with not a lot of time hell he's 30 and Jacobs is still wet behind the ears.
yea he backed up straight in the ropes and was getting rocked 3 times in that fight before the ko....not suprised he lost suprised he has a bad chin....he never had a good defense just he was big and fast....its not the end tho look at amir khan....

Jacobs went straight in the cables without going to his left or to his right, it's a amateur mistake, Jacobs was not ready for that fight, i hope for him that he finds a way to forget that loss by KO. IMO the best MW prospect is David Lemieux, let's see how far he can go.

Nah he couldn't...that Russian was just strong and owned him from the get go :boxing:
