Was just seeing the Mosley-Mora press conference and Ortiz said that he wanted the Maidana rematch and he was waiting for him to sign the contract, but Maidana turned it down.
I think the past few weeks Ortiz has been looking very serious and he really wants to change the opinion of boxing fans, which is largely based on that quit job against Maidana. He really means business it seems. He wants to prove himself now. Its nice to see that attitude from him :fing02:
So that's why it took so long for the Ortiz camp to announce Harris as the opponent, they waited for this fight...
Yeah, there are more attractive options for Maidana out there than a re-match against Victor, but Corley surely is not one of them. If he does not dispose of him easily, he will look like a fool, more than if he had lost a re-match.
and Victor Ortiz had Antonio Diaz, Hector Alatorre and Nate Campbell in his last three fights if you wanna play that game. I thought Ortiz wanted to fight Vivian Harris on the undercard anyway :ugh:
yes but Ortiz has no other options really he been calling out Maidana for a while and even called out Bradley and Khan
he is in the same boat as Alexander right now too dangerous of a boxer very high risk fight for either Bradley or Khan and now they can't even get Marcos because him fighting Khan is the way more attractive option Money and Risk wise
this aint the first and wont be the last time maidana turns ortiz down.
lol at corley, did anyone see what happened when he fought freddy hernandez?
that is less than a tune up bout

Maidana got REAL lucky against Ortiz the first time...that is why he is scared.
He is a scared ass bitch.
I see Ortiz destroying ANYONE and EVERYONE at 140 INCLUDING Amir Khan.
There is nothing lucky about a guy getting knocked down and beaten on the way he did and constantly getting up like he was the ****ing terminator
to win the fight in an impressive showing.
I understand both points, but if you read my responses you'll see that I side with u more on the matter. However, Maidana did BRUTALIZE Ortiz which one can compare to Pac's victory over Cotto because many view the rematches as equivalently having the same outcome as has been shown by the dominating performances both put on.
that makes no sense like the other poster said Cotto never had Manny in any trouble and Ortiz was actually winning the fight until the end of the 5th when he got that cut. Ortiz was the better fighter for the majority of the fight and had he actually boxed instead of throwing nothing but powershots he would have cruised to a UD
this new cautious version of Ortiz everybody criticizes will win this rematch and Marcos kknows it thats why he is holding out for the 140 cashcow Khan
Who ever is comparing the Ortiz vs Maidana rematch to the Pacquiao vs Cotto rematch has to be a retard...bro Ortiz and Maidana was an all out war with Ortiz winning by knock downs and points by the way those two were throwing down anyone could have won...Pacquiao dominated Cotto with knockdowns and points and Cotto really never had Pacquiao in serious trouble...it's not the same shit...Ortiz vs Maidana was a really underrated war...I mean dood no LWW would have survived that shit...that rematch can headline the september 18th card and Maidana can still reject Corley and Ortiz can reject harris to make this rematch happen...this is BS!
Maidana is Khan's mandatory contender. He's not going to be in any major fights that aren't for a world title. The Corley fight makes sense for him right now.

He has Khan as his mandatory and Bradley is also interested in fighting him. That would be a TITLE SHOT. If he beats one of them, it would open up more gates and he would become a bigger star.
What does Maidana get from Ortiz? He beats him and that does nothing. He loses, and then everyone will say the 1st time was a fluke. That would put him in the gutter.
And Maidana didn't lie about the back injury, it was his manager.
You can keep throwing those names out, but none of those guys are fighting each other.
He has to fight them first before he can beat them. People can keep saying Bradley, Devon, Khan, etc, but none of those guys are fighting him anytime soon.
He should be thanking Ortiz for the first fight because the majority of boxing fans didn't give a shit about him before the fight. The Ortiz fight put him on the map in the sport of boxing.
Ortiz learned from his mistake and won't be going toe to toe with Marcos again.
Ortiz outboxes Maidana easily. He got too brave and paid the price Maidana knows he wont beat Ortiz a second time. I wouldnt take the fight either Id rather face Khan and hope I could check his chin.
this aint the first and wont be the last time maidana turns ortiz down.

Maidana need to fight Ortiz again, if he dont fight this guy that gave him a
name in boxing he will **** his career....
A Win with Ortiz again will make him a very solid 140 guy.
Who does Maidana have other than Ortiz? He already lied about having a back injury and the top fighters would rather talk shit online and in interviews instead of fighting each other.

You think Pac should fight Cotto again?
Not the same thing. Cotto is now a B level fighter at 154 and he won his belt by beating Yuri. Pac has better options than Cotto like Floyd, Martinez, Williams, etc.
Who does Maidana have other than Ortiz? He already lied about having a back injury and the top fighters would rather talk shit online and in interviews instead of fighting each other.
How was Marcos easily winning the first fight before it was stopped, when Ortiz was ahead on the cards?
Maidana needs to stop talking shit and fight Ortiz again. He should've no problem beating Ortiz again if he's the better fighter and made him quit the first time.
This is the reason why boxing scene is shit right now. You guys bitch and moan when the best guys in the division aren't fighting each other, but you give a fighter a pass, when he doesn't accept a challenge from another top fighter. Bradley, Khan, Ortiz, Maidana, Alexander, etc. all talk shit about each other, but nobody is fighting each other. The top 5 guys in the division should be fighting each other.
You would rather watch Ortiz fight a tune up fight and Maidana sit at home instead of watching Ortiz vs. Maidana this fall? Maidana needs to understand the other top 3 guys won't be fighting him anytime soon.
yep.
Ortiz was def ahead on the cards vs. Maidana. Maidana just happened to land a flush right hand under Ortiz's left eye (on the ropes) that would've left him blinded for the rest of the fight. They asked the doc to take a look at it, and I think the doc didn't wanna let the fight go on.
A lot of you guys are real jackasses.
You're gonna give Pac shit for rematching Cotto who he stopped in 12, but now all of the sudden Maidana owes Ortiz a rematch after he publicly emasculated him in front of his L.A fans in 6?
**** Ortiz.
Maidana has Bradley, Alexander and Khan to ktfo out now.
Ortiz has to get back in line and stop eating Taco Bell after fights.
dude shut the **** up and get off pacs d!ck Ortiz was ahead on the cards when the fight stopped
go watch that fight moron
Well I think that Ortiz wouldn't be having this "tune up" if Maidana accepted.
I think people are misunderstanding me, I am not the one shitting on Maidana, calling him a ducker, or any of that. Those were some other people in this thread. If you read my 1st post it is mostly to highlight Ortiz's attitude and the news that he wanted to rematch Maidana on Sept 18 (which not many people seem to have talked about on this forum).
In my opinion Maidana has earned the right to not give Ortiz a rematch; He wants a Khan or Bradley for a title shot, and he has earned that. Besides, an Ortiz win does nothing for Maidana.
cool. no disrespect meant to ya.
Maidana gets nothing from fighting Ortiz is right. Ortiz needs to rebuild his image with a DOMINANT performance.
He's at the bottom of the top 5 in terms of bargaining power.
