I know anyone who says he's boring is probably a new fan because when he was "The Executioner" for real he was far from boring.
And seeing a man of his age compete for this long is far from boring. If you could only understand the little veteran techniques he uses you would love watching him.
I love Hop been watching him since i was a kid, but he has produced some terribly boring fights and did so in fights that he could have probably won and been entertaining in. He's not the worst but just like that list in the other thread Hop can make fights really boring to watch sometimes. he's still on my list but he has produced fights that i felt i wasted my night watching.
When he was younger, I found him more entertaining to watch.
As he got older, say, post-2003, he was more dull to watch on a fight-by-fight basis. But in between all the boredom, he did do some brilliant things in there that I like watching. The slipping of punches, right foot and body placement, countering, etc.
He's a cherry picker that fights for himself like most of the other fighters do these days. Every one of the guys he beat here lately never accomplished anything. I'm not gonna explain it again.
B-Hop sponsored beat downs are a special combination of cerebral and brutal. His opponents often spend sleepless nights shivering and silently weeping into their pillow like rape victims after 12 rounds with the Executioner. The audience is often left confused as to whether they just witnessed a lecture or a sodomisation.
Hopkins is a master of the sweet science. You might not find it entertaining, but appreciate it. I for one have always enjoyed watching B-Hop and he's my favourite boxer ever.
what version of hopkins are you talking about?
45 year old hopkins or 30 something year old version?
There is a HUGE difference.
Young hopkins was phenomenal to watch imo. Obviously 45 year old hopkins has slowed down tremendously
Yeah his fights with Howard Eastman, Roy Jones(1st Time) Jermain Taylor were all classics.
Inside the ring very boring. Out the ring, a very articulate and intelligent man. Bernard Hopkins aint gonna be a broke man like Tyson/Bowe/Hollyfield.
The dude makes my eyes bleed, Hopkins and Spadafora should go down as the all time snoozers.
One can argue Jouhn Ruiz as a bore but atleast he had Norman Stone to make up for laughs...
I like Hopkins, even though he ain't one of my absolute favorite guys to watch. I do enjoy seeing him pick opponents apart. He usually does enough in the second half of his fights to make them worth watching. He can make a good fight with the right opponents. As long as his opponent keeps pressing him he has more chances to work his magic. He's boring when his opponents shut down completely and he don't have to work at all.

He wasn't originally boring and in reality people are impatient and want immediate self-gratification (especially in the US).
In his prime, he would win 12 lopsided rounds. People don't like that shit, they get bored, they're the same people that find Mayweather and Paul Williams fights boring.
I watch Hopkins' fights to learn technique and why he does this and that. Comes in handy during sparring.

Yeah, a friend of mine, who has been into boxing for around 23 years, walked out of his fight against roy in the rematch.:ugh:

He's my favourite fighter so i don't find him boring.
I have to admit though, as he has got older his fights have got more and more dull but it's basically down to the fact he needs to be over defensively to still compete at the top level.
A prime Hopkins was great to watch. He was still techincal but far more aggressive.
There isn't adjectives strong enough to describe how horribly boring he is.
I think I'd prefer to be tortured with medieval techniques than to watch him "fight"...
Awful, awful fighter.
