What are floyd mayweather's weaknesses in the ring? Does he have any bad habits or things which, for example a fighter like pacquiao could expoit.
I say this because manny's deficiencies, habits or whatever you want to call it are fairly obvious. Two of his major criticisms in his early career were that he was too left hand happy (imo he has a lethal left hand which worked), and also that his balance was often bad. JMM 2 in one of the early rounds is a good example of pacquiao's poor balance when he is hit with that huge left hook mid-air. Now pacquiao appears to be far more balanced both in his stance and movement and also his ability to use both hands.
Over to PBF. Here, mayweather's weakness are not so obvious. The main reason is due to him being schooled properly since very young to box the way he does. But the question is, does he still have certain tendencies or weaknesses as a fighter which pacquiao could exploit. Ill list a few things which i have noticed to get things rolling:
Starting slow - Either mayweather doesnt watch tape or he takes a few rounds to get the opponents timing down, he is vulnerable in those first four rounds. By watching him fight, he is adapting in these rounds, constantly figuring out the opponents punch patterns.
Muscle endurance and fatigue - When for example he was going toe to toe with corley in that fight he seems to get arm weary quickly, but recovered his stamina very quickly in the later rounds.
Tendency for his body to let him down - More recently this has not happended but in his earlier career there were quite a few fights where mayweather would damage his hand or more recently in the hatton fight, in the 24/7 series floyd commented on how his elbows and shoulders hurt due to his defensive style.
Over sensitivity to feints - Now he gets away with this here because he is generally much faster than his opponent. Against Judah and Corley i believe to some extent his reflexes were overpowered by sheer speed and some flush shots were landed. He was forced to go to a more traditional guard and use more traditional techniques, being not so reliant on reflexes and speed.

Inactivity - Some people consider this a weakness or a habit but with mayweather this really isnt one. With his accuracy he can afford to have a low work rate. Remember however that the term 'workrate' does not just include punches thrown. It also includes body movement and how many shots you must defend against. Mayweather hatton had a high work rate.
Im sure there are more things which can be added, please discuss.
Mayweather doesn't have any glaring weaknesses or bad habits to speak of. In some fights he'll start slow, but that seems like it's done to size up an opponent so that he can make later adjustments. Against Pacquiao, I'm certain that he's going to use those rounds to learn as much as he can.
A few keys to victory for someone fighting Mayweather:
1. You aren't likely to win a decision unless it's an absolutely one-sided beatdown. Castillo should have beaten Floyd in their first fight. Even being extremely generous to Floyd in rounds that were close, I still had Castillo up by three rounds. Perhaps, Manny is the one person who could get a decision against Floyd, as he's extremely marketable himself.
2. You need to be active. You basically need to smother Floyd from the start and keep pouring it on until the end. If you've got a good jab, use it. Keep backing him up. Jab to the body. Throw to the body. Floyd's great at moving his head to avoid punches. He's also great at using his legs. Hit him in the body early to slow him down later.
3. Be patient. Floyd is super patient, and he tends to frustrate his opponents. Zab Judah had an early lead, but got frustrated and his lack of discipline allowed Floyd to turn the tables and win the rest of the fight. Floyd is going to dodge and deflect most of your punches. He's going to counter you unless you happen to have a super fast jab like Judah does. Just keep your cool and follow the gameplan.
The trick is to bully Floyd for 12 rounds. He's a boxer, and while he's shown that he can fight inside pretty well, it's not his prefered style. If you're strong and fast, you can beat him by turning it into a brawl. The reason Mayweather might not be so hot to fight Pacquiao is because Pacquiao's style is pretty much the very thing that he likes the least - a fast guy who throws a ton of punches. I'm not saying Pacquiao could easily beat Mayweather, it's just that the style match-up is pretty favorable for him. Knowing the plan, and being able to execute it are two different things.
Just my two cents.

Man believe it or not there are many people who believe that though. The media has convince many people that floyd is nothing special and just a product of matchups. smh...
The people who think Floyd doesn't have enough power to hurt pac, doesn't know how to fight southpaws, and that pac is the best finisher are going to be in for a surprise on fight night.
Mayweather is fine with southpaws. That myth spewed around doesn't stand up to the facts.

Mayweather has beaten every southpaw he has faced. No, his weakness is his lack of 1 punch KO power. If Money had stronger hands then he probably would be 100-0 right now. Imagine a fighter with moneys skill and tyson's power unstoppable.
I can see what you're saying about the Corley fight but that too was his first fight at Junior Welterweight so arm fatigue would be more likely considering him not being used to the weight.
That's a good point actually, fair enough. But you understand what I said about quick recovery.
His weakness? Didnt u watch Mayweather-Mosley. Case in point of good muscle endurace, Mosleys trainer even told him in the late rounds THIS IS FLOYDS GIFT HIS ENDURANCE AND CARDIO .....
What a dumb ass analysist
Looks like you haven't read the post. :lol1:
when he stands toe to toe he gets his ass beat, just like R.2 v Mosley. That's why he has to stay running or hang on and get Cortez to help him.
Awww poor Weebler I guess round 10 was very traumatising for you and round 2.....well you must feel like a 2 time rape victim.
It seems to me his greatest flaw is no heart
Correct me if Im mistaken but arent you the same guy who thinks Pac is the GOAT?

Thanks for spoiling the thread
his biggest weakness is hes a coward, he ducks and dodges fighters way too much !!!!

Floyd has weaknesses but you have to be a very skilled fighter to catch those weaknesses and expose them, he will give you the first 3-4 rounds just so he can figure you out, but then once he makes his adjustments then it is usually a shutout for the rest of the fight
guys are holding on to the fact that a few guys was able to land big punches against him, this is boxing, everybody been stunned by a big punch but the difference when it comes to Mayweather is that he recovers quickly and he seems to turn his offense up even more after he gets hit with a big shot, while if most guys would get hit with those shots they would probably go down
floyd doesnt watch tapes. his team does though. bringing up corley is retarded. so long ago.
Floyd : I never whatch tapes
Roger : what fukking gameplan, gameplans sukks!
Floyd few weeks later: I am gonna whatch some tapes with my uncle Roger and we gonna make perfect gameplan
He cant fight southpaws.
He got rocked against every southpaw he fought!
Sharmba clocked him at the end of the round,Judah dropped him and Chop Chop almost knocked him out twice.
And Spadafora beat living shit out of him in sparring!
