The fight was already built up the most it could be. Now all this teasing, all this drama, all this bullshit has pretty much deflated the anticipation and desire for this fight to happen. I definitely don't think it will break the DLH/Mayweather PPV record anymore. Casual fans are losing interest at this point. There is no more, "they're trying to build it up for next year". This shit already peaked.
Both Pac and May missed the boat on this one.

i agree!
LOL @ everybody saying all this is more "hype" and more "buildup."
even i'm not as excited about the fight, as i was last november.
Floyd acts like he owns the sport of boxing. He wants to make rules for a sport that already has rules, and their not bad to begin with. I think Floyd forgets what he realy is, and that's a fighter. Another fighter in the sport of boxing. No matter how big he is, when it comes down to it he's another fighter. And there's nothing wrong with that, Tyson always knew his place. Ali knew his place, why doesn't Floyd know his place? It gets really irritating when these big ego's are stopping fights from ever happening.
Even hardcore fans are getting tired of all this. If it ever does happen it will be great but you're right, it won't be what it could have been in March or even this Novemeber or December.
Probably asking for too much, but if they ever do agree to fight can they please negotiate (and by negotiate, I mean where both sides fully realize they are negotiating) in absolute secret and only announce the news when all contracts have been signed?
No more lame negotiating drama please.
True I think the interest for the fight will never get bigger but Tyson vs Lewis were two guys past their prime and that fight still got over 2 million buys.
thanks floyd!
umm Floyd???, ur usually a very decent poster but that was wack Mak, this fight was at its peak back in march during the first negotiation, Pacman destroyed Cotto and Mayweathe outclassed marquez, Pac killed it then because he denied something he was bound to agree with, The TESTS!. back then right after Pac beat Cotto they posted the reoport on the FRONT PAGE 1ST SLOT OF YAHOO!!!. Same after Mayweather beat Marquez, FRONT PAGE 1ST SLOT OF YAHOO!!!. now its not as big but still monumental. But I completely agree on pinning the folly of this one entirely on Mayweather this time around. Both fcked up bad which is why they are both to blame.
This fight HAS to happen. There's no way you can't have a fight between the two top fighters in the world today. It has to happen in 2011. Letting it slip would only hurt boxing and make it sink even more. When you have two top fighters in the world today, there's no ifs or buts. The fans want it and the fans deserve it. I just don't see a reason why this fight wouldn't happen or why they wouldn't give it to the fans.
I think that we can all agree there's only way to rebuild the promotional steam at this point.
Either Pacquiao or Mayweather will have to date Justin Beiber.
quite frankly, Boxingscene or any other boxing forum has gotten stale. 90% of the talk is about Pacquiao & Mayweather and the fight still wont happen this year. I guess I need a vacation like Mayweather.
Please. Margarito ain't comin' to fight. Arum won't allow that. Easy few million bucks for Marg here. No way he beats Manny Pacquiao. First of all, he can't even if he wanted to. Secondly, Bobby boy ain't gonna' allow that. It'd be a HELLUVA' upset if it did happen though!
Margarito is a big dude and if he still has his chin I wouldnt be surprised if he tested Manny. I expect Manny to win just because hes a much better fighter, but I may not be as sold on him as everyone else. A 150lb Margarito is a lot bigger than a 145lb Cotto and at some point Mannys size is going to start becoming a big disadvantage.
Quite frankly, there are many fight I prefer to see than Pacman-Floyd!!:dunno:I would prefer Pacman-Punisher fot the 154 pound title & Floyd-Martinez for the 160 pound title, now those fights would be impressive!!But sadly I've come to realize that unless they fight each other, they'll continue to fight people their supposed to beat on ppv!!:boxing:
Everyone is just pissed right now that it isn't happening at the moment...once it starts going again and it gets signed; the buzz will be back. Nobody is going to be turning away once this shit goes down.

I agree with the bold. Boxing fans will always grasp ahold to the notion of the fight happening, but the intrigue is slowly losing it's luster with the casuals (who are the ones who buy PPVs). With the NFL around the corner and the NBA soon following, people will have a lot more to focus on (especially with how the NBA season is gonna be this year).
I think you're right. The public's losing interest and even people who are more than casual fans are losing interest. Sure, if the fight happens next year it'll be big, but not as big as it could have been. Manny's always wanted this fight, so we only have Floyd to blame on this one. After agreeing to everything that was laid out, Manny was ready. Instead, Floyd left us all hanging. :nonono:
Depends on how Manny looks against Margarito. If he destroys Antonio Margarito it may stay up there, but if Margaritos size bothers him and he makes him look anything less than sensational the fight loses spark.
Somebody with some sense. To top it off everybody is going to watch to see if PAC whips Floyd azz for the simple fact he made them wait long for this fight. They are going say "he beat the sh1t out of that big dude. He is going to knock Floyd the f-ck out.
Yeah that is a great point. I mean EVERY FVCKING hater in the USA will buy this fight hoping Manny kills floyd. The money from the "casual fans that dont like boxing but hate this loudmouth arrogant black MF they see on HBO" will be staggering.
I estimate this group is good for 50k-100k ppvs when floyd fights. In this fight it should be 200k or so once they see floyd on Rome, PTI, Sportcenter talking crazy sh!t!!
Imagine what he will say during Super Bowl media week!
YES IT WILL! All it takes is a Press Conference and one Episode of HBO 24/7 and Mayweather doing a little trash talking and the hype will come right back
