Memo to boxing fans: Boycott Pacquiao vs. Margarito

I will not make a prediction, nor do I care who wins. The fact that this fight is even being made is an absolute travesty to the highest degree. Bob Arum and the powers that be at Top Rank are doing an extreme disservice not only to boxing fans, but sports fans in general. But they don't care. This isn't the first time they've screwed their loyal customers, and it certainly won't be the last. Allowing Antonio Margarito to collect the highest purse of his career is sending a message that you can be rewarded for cheating. Manny Pacquiao does have right to refuse to fight him if he wants. So now is the time for Pacquiao to step up and have his voice heard by standing up to Bob Arum for a change. There are better options available. This has nothing to do with being a fan of Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. It's a matter of what's right and wrong, and supporting a fighter like Margarito is wrong on so many levels. Join the movement along with thousands of boxing fans world-wide by boycotting this farce of boxing match that's being force-fed to us. The best way to send a message is by hitting them where it hurts....the pocketbook. To tack on a $49.95 price tag is an even bigger slap in the face. Do what's right and save your money, because this hogwash isn't worth it. link

Its true.. Everyone says Tony took Cotto's soul.. but at the same time.. Tony was never the same after the Cotto fight if you think about it.. even though most people give the credit to Shane.. Vice versa...I do think Tony took Cotto's invincibility away but I also think Cotto chin checked Margarito the whole night and I think Margarito could have done things better but I think he was on a mission that night. Nobody gave him a chance to beat Cotto and he wanted to prove not only that he can beat him, but he could do it by taking his best punches.

Yeah it makes me wonder if Margarito still has it, but that doesn't mean I'm not rooting for him come fight night. Yea I think even though Margarito won vs Cotto he paid a price bolded for truth. you can't take that much heat from cotto and be the same.

You wanna bet on that? Pac beats Tony.. Just hope that its not so one sided.. . I honestly think that Shane cracked Margos Jaw.. the same thing people said about Cotto after Marg is the same thing that happend to Tony after Shane... Yeah it makes me wonder if Margarito still has it, but that doesn't mean I'm not rooting for him come fight night. Yea I think even though Margarito won vs Cotto he paid a price

not really. if margarito wins, even tho he didn't deserve this fight in the first place, it'll be exactly what manny deserves. i'm not a fan of 2 dudes having a chance to make the biggest fight in boxing history, and somehow they fail to get a deal done, TWICE... same goes for mayweather, if he chooses to fight somebody else, and he loses, it's what he deserves. as far as i'm concerned, the only fights i'm looking forward to, for the rest of this year, are the Super 6 fights..... as for these other boxers, who continue to NOT fight the best opposition they can, they are seriously turning me off to the sport, and i'm gonna stop checking for a lot of these dudes. like i said before, i'll catch the margarito-pacquiao result on the ESPN Sportsticker, the day after the fight. good post!

I agree.. to an extent.. Im a boxing fan so i will watch the fight.. will i pay for it.. No.. Im gonna go to a bar and watch it there instead.. $50 dollars for this fight? thats a bit ridiculous.. Better be one great undercard thats for damn sure.. Hopefully it will be more competitive than we all think... going to a bar, ordering drinks/wings, is still supporting this fight...... i'm a boxing fan, but i have less interest in this fight, than i did for the clottey fight. i won't be watching, period.

I feel its a lost cause. If Manny vs Clottey sold 700,000 he will likely sell 1mil vs margo at the very least. Damn shame too, I don't think Manny can knock him out in a brutal fashion.

I will continue to support Pacquaio with my dollars so long as he continues to fight the big fights. This is a big fight, like it or not. I agree.. to an extent..
