From FW to SFW is just too close to themselves. They should just be one weight class from 123-130. Why have two different weight classes in a matter of 7 lbs?
7lbs is the average for one single weight class like WW, JMW, SMW, LHW.
Imagine from 141 to 147 being two weight classes? Welterweight and Super Welterweight? That would be crazy. More and more fighters are going to be champs in multiple weight classes. From 119-130 there's 3 weight classes. That is absurd. 3 weight classes in 11 lbs!
Who's fault is this? is it the sanctioning bodies/paper titles?
Soon, 1 pound will equal one weight class lol.
That's because the lower you get in weight, the more disciplined the fighters are, so it's much more of a struggle for those fighters to put on the 4 pounds or so between weight classes as you get lower. There's just as big an advantage for a 126 pound fighter fighting a 122 pound fighter as there is for a 175 fighter fighting a 168 fighter.
This post is a good explanation to your question. As you get lower in weight the slightest things can affect your performance, the speed of those guys in the lower divisions is amazing and can be altered a lot by a few pounds.
I think between each weight class there should be a 7lbs rule. Where the least should 7lbs. Example from 131-138 should Lightweight. Super Lightweight should eliminated. WW is just fine, Super WW and Middleweight are just fine. 123-130 should be Featherweight, eliminate Super Featherweight.

Too many weight classes, too many belts, not enough fighting, that sums up boxing these days.
