yeah! floyd came in two pounds over the weight! it has nothing to do with the fact that he would have beat jmm at any weight on, probably, any night because he was just plain better.
pacquiao is suppose to be faster at the lighter weights and it is obvious pacquiao hits harder. the thing about pacquiao's recent opponents is that we haven't been able to get a decent feeling of how much speed he's lost by moving up in weight because he's fighting fighters like david diaz, hatton, cotto (who was terribly out-classed in speed by judah), de la hoya and margarito. not a fighter that thrives on speed among them.
I wouldn't say floyd jr would beat jmm at any weight. What about 135? or 130? I can't say jmm would beat floyd jr either, but at those weights, the fight would have at least been more competitive.
regarding pac's speed, i can't disagree with you there.
Like you said. It was a TUNE UP FIGHT. No real risk for him there. It wasn't a war, or even be considered a fight. It was a tune up fight, a little more than a sparring session. He fought a much smaller, shorter, OLDER, overweight fighter. Plus, he was smart enough to cheat at the weight just to be sure.

he called out alot of fighters too. but i think you should think strategically, here.
Floyd returned to come after pac. and what better way to send to a message to them than making an example out of the the fighter most experts and boxing media outlets felt beat pac. that goes for the pinoy media as well.
and that was just a TUNE UP fight.
that was all abotu knocking off ring rust and sending a signal to team pac
and the odds will be for pac too. most likely 2:1. flyd is the best fighter in the world and the odds will reflect that
many people gave JMM a chance. b/c the fight wasnt about size, it was a thinking mans game. and people overestimated JMM ability as a boxer when he was facing someone that does everything he can do, but 10 times better

Pacman may very well be faster and a harder puncher, but as Floyd says "it's not about speed and power, it's about timing and inches"
A good jab and timing can offset speed anytime. That's what happened with Forrest vs Mosley. Mosley was the more talented fighter, but Forrest had the movement, style, jab and timing to win.
Roy Jones was more physically gifted than Tarver, but Tarver had the style, patience and timing to give him trouble.
JMM challeneged floyd. and if JMM felt so "cheated" he could/would have called the fight off
floyd came off a long lay off putting on alot of weight. plenty of people agreed that floyd was looking drained in some of his interviews leading up to the fight.
floyd payed the money and didnt draining himself. its called being smart. more boxers need to do the same and look out for their health, being that thats most important
thread back on topic
A lot of fighters called out floyd jr. But he chose to fight the smallest, oldest one out there.
of course floyd jr played smart. that's why he won. Marquez was obviously NOT smart for allowing all the cards stacked against him.
but regardless who was smart or not, it doesn't change the fact that the odds were overwhelmingly AGAINST Marquez and FOR floyd jr. Anyone saying that the Marquez/Floyd jr. fight was fought in an even playing field is living in a world of his own.
Apples and oranges guys.
130 is totally different from 147.
Also, at 130, Marquez fought someone his size allowing him to use his defensive fighting style and at his most comfortable weight.
At 147, not only was marquez forced to fight TWO WEIGHT CLASSES ABOVE HIS NORMAL WEIGHT CLASS, his opponent was taller, with a longer reach, forcing him to be the aggressor, which is NOT HIS FIGHTING STYLE.
He was also older when he did this, compounding his already numerous disadvantages.
Lastly, as if those above NUMEROUS disadvantages weren't enough, he was cheated at the previously agreed catch weight.
Basically, there were two different Marquezes fighting Pac and floyd. One was at his prime, fighting HIS STYLE, on HIS MOST FAVORABLE WEIGHT CLASS. The other was simply an old champion duped into fighting a bigger, taller guy who cheated him.
Marquez landed 69, Mosley landed 92. That's embarrassing.
Keep in mind... in the first 2 rounds Mosley had 29 connects. JMM had 8 connects in round 1 and 2.
If you discount the first two rounds, round 3 to 12, the connects were 61 to 63. Still in favor of Mosley, but on par. Both performances were bad, but in retrospect not bad for JMM, a smaller, slower and weaker foe who had no business fighting at WW.
as one poster said, this is the best maypac thread, so far.
no flaming, well thought answers. best may pac thread, iveever seen on here
pretty sure cungle just fukked that up though
shut of flomo! gayweather sucks balls!
remember guys, this is the 130 version of pac marquez is comparing to floyd
no doubt in my mind pac has slowed down a bit as he moved up weight, but his power and movement has improved a great deal
If Floyd had pac's speed and power he be unstoppable.
its like in dbz where goku and vegeta merge together!!
i don't know.
floyd is pretty fast and he has decent pop.
i think floyd could have won a lot of fights by ko that he won by decision.
floyd just isn't wired with manny's offensive mentality and killer instinct.
floyd is the hit them a little , don't get hit type.
manny is the hit them as much as you can , even if you get hit type.
This is the most educated Pac/ Floyd thread so far. Pac is probably a little bit faster and he puts more power behind his punches. Floyd is Fast, but he doesn't put his strength into his punches, but he has crazy good defense, so if this fight ever happens it would be an amazing battle. Floyd will most likely be looking for a decision and Pac will be looking for a K.O.
i think it'll be a little boring tbh.
i can picture pac-floyd going like tito-delahoya (the last part of the fight when tito was able to steal rounds by just going forward) if pac wins and tito-hopkins (maybe without the ko) if floyd wins.
but wait,
by the same token, marquez is saying pac @130 hits harder than floyd @147 (though coming off a long layoff)?
interesting.
I think we all should keep in mind that 144 was the heaviest that JMM weighed in at in his career, so it might be safe to say he takes a better punch at that weight than he did at 130. It's difficult to compare anything if it didn't happen at the same weight class.

Between 2 counter punchers, the bigger faster 1 usually wins!!That is the story of Marquez & Floyd, added to the fact that the fight took place wayyyy above Marquez's best weight!!
When examining a fantasy fight involving Pacman & Floyd, the key aspect is that U have a great defensive fighter, against a great offensive fighter!!Both are highly conditioned elite athletes, both are easily the best at their trade!!Marquez was at his best against Pacman,in his weight,in his element!!He had no business fighting Floyd at welterweight being outweighted by as much as he was,so to me his analysis will always be a little suspect!!
I wonder what he would say if the Floyd who fought Mosley was against Marquez, i honestly think Floyd went easy on Marquez due to respect/Layoff or for ****ing him over with CW. Marquez is a great fighter but i don't think he can function over 135.. the top dogs at 140 in Alexander, Khan and Bradley all beat him badly at this stage imo
He put more heart into the Mosley fight. He really tried to stop Mosley though mosley has a rock chin so it didnt happen. With Marquez he didnt really try to put him away.
Maybe he didnt want more of the criticism for stopping a much smaller guy or maybe the fight was just to bait Pacquaio to show he is better. One thing is mayweather really didnt trash talk JMM much at all until the whole pee drinking thing but other than that he didnt trash talk him.
jeez, can't floyd stans just accept some truth instead of getting butthurt over the slightest criticism on their idol
faster doesn't mean better, power doesn't mean better
grow the fukk up idiots
