I think that boxing promoters are actually starting to realize how much PPV fights are shrinking their fan base. I would not be surprised if they strike up a deal with a network like TNT or USA that is on basic cable in the next few years. What do you all think?
It would be awesome and bring boxing back to its roots and that meaning back to being a sport over a business. Gone will be the days of fighters making 30 million dollars but in the long run would help the growth of the sport and undercard fighters will see a slight increase in pay across the board as well.
Whether this deters fighters from boxing because the major lucrative fights would bring in less money would be interesting but in the long run I think it would help big time and maybe the sport could gain in popularity where you could see a major network start to show big time fights again. I think boxing may end up going down this path but it is going to take a lot longer than a few years.
The reason I made this thread was because the thread you made about how you are done buying PPV's and I thought how ridiculous it really is to buy these fights.
