What if Manny Pacquiao loses on November 13? It’s a simple question, but answering it requires a complicated analysis.
Pacquiao is recognized by many to be the best in world, but that acknowledgment does not prevent him from being upset by Antonio Margarito.
The first thing that probably comes to mind when fans think of the possibility of Pacquiao losing is the absolute evaporation of the chance of a future Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao fight.
The way Mayweather totally blew off the most important bout in boxing history for no apparent reason is still beyond me. Therefore, if Pacquiao loses to Margarito, boxing fans can pretty much kiss the possibility of Mayweather-Pacquiao goodbye.
Despite that drawback, could Pacquiao being defeated be good for the sport of boxing?
I mean think about it. No one likes to see a sport absolutely dominated by one team or person, and that’s exactly what has happened to boxing.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have become like the New York Yankees or the Los Angeles Lakers. Mayweather is even more comparable in nature with these teams because like them, he is a person everyone loves to hate.
Nonetheless, although Pacquiao has generated less hate from fans than Mayweather, he is still in the same boat because what fans love to see even more than titans of their sport squaring off, is to see an underdog win.
Why do you think Rocky, the best boxing movie of all time, is so popular?
Another reason Pacquiao losing could be beneficial to the sport is because of the potential for a trilogy.
If Margarito beats Pacquiao, there is no doubt in my mind that Pacquiao would want a rematch. If things go in that direction boxing fan, these two fighters could be reminiscent of the classic Ward-Gatti bouts.
When is the last time we have had a good trilogy boxing fans? We were almost lucky enough to see Diego Corrales fight Jose Luis Castillo a third time, but almost doesn’t help.
The fact of the matter is, we need some excitement in the sport. We need a James Buster Douglas to knockout Mike Tyson.
Margarito has a chance to be the James Buster Douglas of our era, and add a little exhilaration and suprises to the sport.
Margarito, who resides in Tijuana, will have an undeniable advantage since he will most likely be fighting Pacquiao in Monterey, Mexico.
What will happen on November 13, who knows? But we can all at least be thankful that Mayweather-Pacquiao melodrama is over for now.

Regardless of Pacquiaos catchweight demand, I hope it doesn't happen. The last thing we need is cheato rising from the ashes. :boxing:

That's why I hate this fight. It's bad for boxing regardless of the outcome. Pacquiao winning his 8th division title at a catchweight is easily the lesser of the two evils though.
Pacquiao losing to Hatton or De la Hoya or Cotto or Márquez or even Mayweather would be OK...to watch get beat by Margarito would be a major letdown considering Margs' reputation...whether or not he knew about the handwraps. Margarito beating Pacquiao won't help the sport. Is Margarito marketable? Of course he isn't. He doesn't have the charisma of Pacquiao, the boyish charm of Pacquiao that ladies love, the goofiness of Pacquiao, the amazing display of blinding ferociousness that he beats his opponents with.
Margarito CANNOT be Arum's cash cow, and Pacquiao losing would hinder his chances to go for another comeback in his career, as well as public interest in the mega-fight.
Pacquiao losing means Bob is to blame, he DOESN'T have to put Pacquiao in there with Margarito. But whatever...
LOL this is what kills me about Boxing fans.
You want Pacquiao to lose, yet expect another Mega Fight to just pop up from the ground. The reality is Pac vs Mayweather is the biggest fight to be made and it's the biggest fight you'll see in yrs to come when looking at the stock of fighters coming up today and where their star power lies even right now. It'll be a long while before we see another fight of that magnitude. I can't tell you anyone from 140-168 who's going to be a crossover star at the level of both Manny and Floyd right now. Hope I'm proven wrong (for the sake of Boxing).
If margachito missed with a swing and punched himself out that would be WIN! Pacquiao would have had help winning the title from his opponent, so a discredited win, and then margachito would be a laughingstock.
I hope for it because I never thought I would see a fighter dive out of a ring to avoid continuing a fight...but we saw it. So, here's hoping that margachito knocks himself out!
that would be awesome.
exactly, they're ruining a great sport with their homo emotions towards Pacquiao
Suicide rates will increase in the Philippines. True story.:lol1:

Pacquiao losing to that cheat would be a shit stain on the sport of boxing. It will look as though Margarito was rewarded for his cheating.
I hope Pacquiao humiliates Margarito on a big stage so he can go back to fighting cab fighters.
No its not good if Margarito wins this fight and the title.
My vote is yes cause it would mean that Manny will stay the hell down and fight at 147 or 140 and there are a lot of interesting match ups there for him

Yes Margarito smashing him is good for boxing!!That's 1 superstar diva out the way, then hopefully whoever faces Floyd"because we all know it's gonna be someone he is supposed to beat",he'll get smashed to,then boxing can continue without both their diva like personas!!
nah because mayweather would still duck margarito if he manages to win
I don't know about that, but it'll surely kill any chance of the Pac-Mayweather fight happening.
