Victor Ortiz is no longer Vicious

people are really sleeping on him in the 140 division. He could do some serious damage in there. hell yes if there is a super6 for 140 I would put my money on Ortiz or Alexander to take it

All Ortiz said was that he was too young to be taking a beating like that....and it's true. 100% spoken truth. Dude was what...22 when he fought Maidana? Maidana had just unloaded 1200 punches against Kotelnik 4 months earlier. Maidana never fought past the 8th round...except for the SD, every one of his fights ended inside 8...some were 1st round KOs. Some were early round (inside 3) TKOs. GBP matched him up against such a powerful puncher WAAAAAAY too early. Mentally, Ortiz was in no position to fight someone who could eat his shots like that. Plus that whole "vicious" nickname is what got him in trouble in the first place. It f*cked with his mind and probably made him prone to trading blows. The fight was a managerial mistake. One loss doesn't make him a bitch. Ortiz WILL create havoc at JWW and eventually become a top-rated pound for pound fighter, even at WW. as the other guy posted...WTF was YOUR favorite fighter doing at 22yrs old? Nothin, probably being a bitch. Ortiz was going toe to toe with THE hardest puncher in his division.

You guys best believe Ortiz will go back to his old style when he fights Harris...I'm close to the members of the Ortiz camp and they wanted Ortiz to get more rounds under his belt since he hasn't faught defensive since he was an amateur...they needed 3 tune ups so that Ortiz can mix it up if he ever gets in trouble so the 140 division is in deep shit when Ortiz goes back to that offensive/leaning forward style he had before the Maidana fight...with a little more defensive tactics Ortiz could have finished Maidana in the later rounds...All you praising big headed Bradley will be in shock after Ortiz takes that belt in december

Some of ya'll are dumb asses, dude was just 22 years old when he fought a prime power punching Maidana. What the **** was your favorite fighter doing at age 22? Most fighters don't reach their prime until they're around 28 years old. He's gonna be a really good fighter a few years from now.

Talent wise he is unbelievable. But what bothers me is his mental approach. After he lost to Maidana he was smiling and saying very childish and weird things. The post fight press conference just really put me off. He was laughing and Oscar was standing there pissed, and rightly so.

on the radio show after he fought Campbell I initially called him Precious Victor Boretiz but then switched it to Cautious

hes gone on record as saying he asked for a rematch with maidana, he was sayin he do it for free..... oscar probably kicked his ass when he heard that hell do it for free....

"Viscious" just sounds good, he doesnt strike me as being a viscious fighter. But he was against Maidana, I think GBP should try and make a rematch between those two but I doubt it will happen. If Ortiz lost to Maidana again and then Maidana lost to a Khan or Bradley then he wouldnt look good. Even though Bradley/Khan/Alexander are the top guys in his division. Ortiz was rated very highly before he lost to Maidana. I dunno if he spells his name Viscious but thats the wrong spelling

From this day forward Victor Ortiz shall be known as... Cautious Victor Ortiz He still looks pretty shaky (watch the last 3 rounds against Campbell), he might not be able to get that necessary mental strength.

Ortiz was rated very highly before he lost to Maidana. Maidana was getting outclassed and even dropped by Ortiz early on. Ortiz wanted to show his vicious side, but he was a little too vicious which became his downfall that night. So he ends up adopting a safety first style for his next two fights. Ortiz should study some Barrera fights if he wants to be a "smart and aggressive" fighter.
