In all honesty, i feel that Jermain Taylor really lost to:
1)Hopkins I
2)Hopkins II
3)Winky Wright
4)Kassim Ouma
5)Froch
6)Abraham
7)Spinks
8)Pavlik
I feel that HBO was trying to build Taylor to be something great, but he couldnt hold up to the creation. I do think he beat Lacy but everyone else was ROBBED!
Except the people that actually beat him...
He beat Hopkins in the first fight. How he got the decision in the second fight I have no idea. I'm not going to call it a robbery since other people have scored it for Taylor, but if there was a fight where "It should have gone to the other guy, but it's not a robbery" it's definitely the second fight.
To say Taylor lost to Ouma and even Spinks is laughable. Spinks Taylor is the worst fight I've ever seen though.
I thought he lost to Wright too.

Thats interesting, he never won a fight?? AT ALL???
I could swear that Pavlik KHTFO
He should have beaten Froch. He handed that fight to Froch on a plate. Here, I'm gassed, it's round 9, take over, I can't fight anymore. Single most disgusting moment in the years I've watched boxing. I never wanted to watch another fight.
He definetly struggled in his hard fights, but look at the guys he fought. I mean, Hopkins back to back, Winky Wright straight after and then Spinks soon after that. All very aukward guys, You can say he lost some of these fights but at least he had the balls to take these hard fights. Which is more than you can say for Pavlik who fought guys like Lockett, Rubio and Espino during his MW reign.
He should have beat Pavlik in the first fight, Had him rocked badly in the 2nd round and got anxious trying to finish and got knocked out. I think that fight changed him forever, His confidence wasnt there after the KO loss.
Yeah, the guys Taylor fought were very awkward. The guys Taylor defended his title against had styles that were very difficult to look good against, especially compared to Pavlik's defenses who were guys with styles that make fighters look good. Taylor would have sparked all the guys Pavlik beat, but I can't say the same for Pavlik against Taylor's opponents.
Umm I guess if u like Manny who was created, of course u gonna stand behind PacROIDS...
Well that made a lot of sense.
:lol1: I seriously read that about 10 times..
Taylor beat Hopkins twice in two close fights.
The Wright fight was too close to call. But it was def a good fight.
He beat Spinks, he beat Ouma.
Taylor was just as good as his opponents, that's why he was on a lot of close fights. He tends to get on his opponents level and never above them.
I thought he was beating Froch pretty handily before he got knocked out. He hurt Pavlik pretty bad in the first fight, the rematch was very close. The New York Times gave that fight to Taylor. The Abraham fight, Abraham was winning comfortably before the stoppage.
Yep, he was a great fighter JT. Always went in there against the best and almost always matched their level.
The guy fought NOTHING but top class fighters back to back to back to back to back... Maybe he was never that good... or maybe that's what happens when you always fight the best fighters out there..

Taylor was my favorite active fighter along with Mayweather.
I don't know what the heck happened to him in the Pavlik fights. All I know is that the second fight against Pavlik should have gone to him or a draw.
Yeah thought he had won it myself, or got a draw at the least. I was pissed when they read for Pavlik. When I watched the fight again I understood why they had scored it like that, but man...

His fights against Hopkins were almost too close to call, but I wouldn't call them robberies. I gave him the edge because of his workrate. He really did make Hopkins look old during certain moments.
Pavlik, Froch and Abraham did beat Taylor, but Froch was clearly behind in the scorecards even after the knockdown in the 12th.
The only fight I thought he lost was against Winky and even that fight was pretty damn close. Winky gave the 12th round away.
But Ouma and Spinks? Not sure what Taylor did to you. Both fights were boring, but Taylor clearly won fights. You're just kicking the man while he's down.

naw i watch boxing...never do i hate...They Robbed Hopkins, Spinks, WInky etc...Taylor was never good..
Was never good?
What is good then?
Is winning an amateur fight good?
Is winning 10 amateur fights good?
Is winning a National Golden Gloves title good?
Is becoming the very first boxer from your state to compete at the Golden Gloves good?
Is winning a Professional fight good?
Is winning 10 Pro fights good? 20?
27-0 before you lose a Pro fight good?
Is... at the very least... being competitive with some of the best fighters in the world... good?
Lots of questions.
Surely, he is at least.... good?

he actually lost to pavlik, abraham, and froch, although i had taylor winning the rematch w/ pavlik......
i didn't see the ouma and spinks fights, but i've heard spinks was robbed/taylor was given a gift decision.
i scored the winky fight a draw, as it was decided.
and yea, i thought he lost both fights against hopkins.
i won't shit on the man's career, but i get your point.......the fights he lost, he lost, and the fights he won, were disputed.
I havent seen the Spinks and Ouma fights but I do believe his wins over Bernard were well deserved. Iv'e watched both fights about 4 times and every time I have him winning 115-113. And out of the 6 judges that scored their fights, 5 of them agreed with me.
I do think he lost to Winky though, That fight pissed me off. Wright is one of my favorite fighters and he was robbed in two of his most impressive performences. I thought he gave Taylor and Vargas a boxing lesson but once again HBO had the right people in place to keep their guy's undefeated.
