Do you think guys like Bradley, Khan and Omar Henry can be the face of the sport in 2011-12, etc..
Will boxing "die" when both Pac and Floyd retire? Who will replace them?
when those two retire, there will be some fighters that 'might' emerge as the new faces of the sport...there are some talented, marketable boxers that were mentioned here...guys such as Alexander, Ward, Khan, Alvarez etc...
however, i see a slight lull in the sport and i think the next big 'thing' might not be someone that's on the radar yet
Guys like Devon, Ward, Williams, Berto, etc. will never be stars because they don't have that star quality and they don't have a personality.
CP3 wants to play for the Lakers? :nonono:
everyone always says that boxing is done after such and such person retires... well after de la hoya. you see that pacquiao and mayweather are up there. after them there will ALWAYS be somebody else.
Boxing is like the economy. When talented fighters come up the economy is on the rise, once they retire the economy is on the recession until someone else shows up.
im going to assume the newest boxing star will be unknown as of yet.
Probably Bradley or Allexander. Boxing won't die when either of these guys retire. They will just find somebody else to market.
Exactly problem is alot of are not blessed with foreseeing the future, the winner of the SuperSix and the winner b/t Alexander/Bradley/Khan will definately carry the sport. I can see Yuriorkis Gamboa making airwaves b/c of his style and level of action.
it's just like any other sport when there is a lapse between rising stars. there will always be someone to take over but won't be as great as it seemed during the previous rise of power especially how astonishing pac and mayweather were.
just like jordan to kobe to lebron. jordan is probably the most recognized and best player in NBA history. it isn't what it was in the 90s but it still lives on through kobe and lebron.
if nonito moves forward he'll be pacquiaos predecessor but he won't get to welter
i think juanma will eventually move upto 135-140 and be a huge part of the boxing equation. abradley or alexander are definitely up there once pac and floyd leave.
Who knows. When it was Tyson and DLH in 90's and early 2000's, few if anyone would have predicated that Pacquaio and Mayweather would rise to such prominence.
