is it possible to achieve ATG status today?

I actually think the whole, win one title (even if it's a paper belt I.E. Pac vs Diaz, Floyd vs Gatti) and keep it moving is not that intriguing anymore. I'd rather see a guy fight for a good long time in one division, win a belt and maybe defend it once or twice, get a unification fight against another belt holder and than another (OR the opponent may hold all the other belts). And then defend that Undisputed Championship once before vacating, just to hear the words UNDISPUTED from the announcer before vacating and letting them all split apart. And then move up in weight and try to do it all over again. That right there, a strong 2-division achievement is better than someone moving up, collecting belts so he can be called a 10-division, multi title holding champion. In this Junion/Super weight/multi-titles era, that would set you apart from everybody else. It has always been my opinion that cleaning out a division is much more impressive than cherry picking titles. That goes for EVERY fighter today. When you beat everybody it leaves no question marks.

ATG is too broad of a term. If you're talking about top 100, then yes it's easy. If you're talking top 20 or better yet top 10, then no it's almost impossible. Not enough fights for modern day fighter and the fights they do have aren't all against other great fighters. Top 10 is locked up, nobodys pretty much getting there no matter what 20 is almost the same but its possible Now top 40 is where i would rank Pac And Floyd is somewhere in top 100 Right now almost everyone would rate Pac and Floyd top 10 or 20 but its because they are on the scene now. If Hearns, Leonard or Duran were here today and fought the same fighters they fought in the 80's then we would say they were top 1,2 and 3 ATGF

Unfortunately fighters today are handicapped by to many ABC orgs. If one were to shun these groups and fight the best regardless, clean out divisions, that type of greatness could be attained. Jmo.

A few years ago nobody thought Pacman would be where he is today. It's definately possible.

I dont think Mayweather or Pacquiao are top 20 ATG. Im sorry if they are the 2 biggest names in boxing right now and Im a big Floyd fan but there are a whole load of guys that over came more during harder times.
