media fighters fans we all realize pacquiao will not beat floyd.flody is way to smart for him pacquiao got exposed to the world by a smart counterpuncher marquez.FLOYD is not smart he is a Genius boxer he can adapt to anything in the ring altough it takes him 3,4 rounds to do it so i expect pacquiao to look good the first 3 but the rest of the fight he will be like jjm & shane LOST confused desprate.so floyd will handle manny EASY.but after that wich fighter has a chance to beat floyd out of this fighters we all know floyd will leave 147 after he schools pacquiao.
The only boxer that has a chance against floyd are the average fighter who has a high reward because those are the only fighter that floyd is willing to fight and there is no chance that floyd will face any threat or elite opponent so i say those boxers don't have a chance to beat floyd..

Of course Pacquiao is a small, one dimensional, stupid fighter. Floyd will school Pacquiao knock him out, very easy win. Thats why Floyd has to ask for Random blood testing to even the playing field. lol
Funny late last year Mosley would have been there and got some votes too. Well now he's not even being mentioned in polls. Look what you did Floyd eliminating your 'threats'.
I can see how Cotto can give mayweather a lot of trouble. Mayweather has a hard time blocking against the jab and cotto has a very good jab since he is left hand dominate. He also puts on good pressure and is a good combination puncher. Cotto's defense isnt half bad either. Mayweather has trouble with text book fighthers in my IMO. ( guys with good jabs and good combination and decent defense). I think paul's work rate will challenge mayweather but williams is very sloppy and gets off balanced a lot. Sergio is a good boxer, he is slick and has good ring movement but he tires out too easily.
The only name that counts here is Martinez.
People have the wrong idea about him too. He only moves backwards with fighters larger than himself. He dodges their longer jab by moving backwards and countering over it.
Against a smaller opponent, he's pretty aggressive. Mayweather will make him think a bit, but the vibe would be totally different than his fights against PWill (the giant) and Pavlik (15lbs heavier).
At 160lbs I favour Martinez, at 154lbs I'd call it a toss-up.
I give Paul Williams a better chance. Martinez does have a bit of a stamina issue, and he doesn't set a very high pace. The pace Martinez sets favors Mayweather. Lets also remember that Pavlik was able to time Martinez in the middle rounds.
Difference with Paul is that he doesn't stop coming foward; doesn't stop throwing punches. He sets a much higher pace then Martinez. Mayweather may be an underrated puncher, but he doesn't have the kind of power that would stop Paul from throwing. He'll have to to move, unless he wants to be the aggressor. But I don't know how good that'll do him.
I can definetly see your point. I just don't think Williams style would work, It's all good throwing 100 punches per round but when you face somebody who counters everything you do, The punch count goes down dramatically. You saw with Mosley, He was throwing like 90 punches per round against Margarito but when he fought Floyd he was reduced to like 20 per round. I'm not saying that Floyd could stop him, But I find it hard to see how Williams could win rounds.
He wins fights by "getting into his rythm" but how do you get into a rythm against Mayweather? His accuracy in avoiding and landing punches is second to none. It's just very hard for me to imagine him giving Floyd trouble with his style. He throws lots of wide punches and I think he would be get countered whenever he tries to come in.
I think Martinez is different because he is strong but he makes you come to him and be the aggressor, I still think Floyd would beat him but it would be interesting. I'm not saying I wouldnt like to see a Mayweather fight with Williams but I think Martinez has more of a chance of beating him.
But Paul is one dimensional. He is a beast but he gets hit way too much, and if you look at his resume he hasnt fought a real puncher yet. Perhaps you could say Martinez hits just as hard as Mayweather but Floyd is so accurate and much harder to hit than Sergio. Williams would go out there and throw 100 punches per round and end up getting hit clean over and over.
I would see Paul having fits if that fight ever happened. I just think Martinez would have a better chance because he can switch up his offence, Wheras Williams only fights in one high paced style.
Agreed! I don't hate Paul, but IMO the dude is so friggin overhyped. If Sergio and Cintron is able to hit Paul with clean shots, just imagine what the smartest/most accurate boxer can do to him! At least with Martinez he's more slick than Paul and being a Southpaw helps. Paul will be a bigger target for Floyd as well.
Williams hands down.
While he needs to brush up on a few things (see Cintron fight), he would be a tough challenge.
Imagine a southpaw that can throw consistently over 100 punches per round. Floyd would have big big problems with that as his defense would be compromised once Williams gets into his rhythm. While the roll the shoulders will not work well against a southpaw, if he does use it Williams can still avoid the shoulders since he his tall. Meaning that Floyd's shoulder will NOT obstruct Williams punches from coming threw.
Floyd likes to fight a slower paced fight but Williams would not slow down for 12 rounds as he has good stamina.

sergio martinez is not a straight ahead guy he usually goes backwards he is smart.marquez was to a very smart boxer if you dont come forward its easier for floyd.i think willaims.he has trouble with BIG punchers only.willaims will give him a harder fight but mayweather WINS a close split decesion.cotto and martinez will end up like marquez and mosley and pacquiao on november
Honestly, I think Floyd does best with guys that come straight at him. For example his fights with Diego Corrales, Zab Judah, DeMarcus Corley and Shane Mosley were some of his best performences. He does better with these guys because they come right at him, Allowing his superior speed, reflexes and timing to dictate the fight. Williams would be the same kind of thing, He would throw alot and miss alot whilst getting countered alot. I just dont think you can beat such a technically gifted fighter like Mayweather with such a wreckless style.
His hardest fights were with Castillo because Castillo didnt just come forward in straight lines, He was versatile because he could box aswell as punch and pick the perfect time to attack and steal the close, tactical rounds. I think Martinez is a simular kind of opponent, He's not as smart as Castillo but his footwork is very good and he is a bigger man so if he landed something clean it could be a big deal. I still think Floyd would beat him, But it would be interesting.
A better poll "Will Mayweather actually fight these guys?"
mayweather will only fight fighters that do big numbers cotto is the first option martinez-williams winner will be next.a fight with cotto started getting hyphe since the end of 2007 its should of hapend in 2008
I give Paul the best chance in beating Mayweather because he doesn't tire, atleast out of that list.

Really can't see any of them giving him trouble.
But if I had to pick one i'd go with Martinez because of his size. He's naturally bigger than Floyd and very fast and slick. Williams is a machine but he is one dimensional, Same thing with Manny Pinocchio.
Miguel Cotto? He's flat footed, Loads up and his jab isnt good to get inside. Hard to see Cotto winning a round nevermind the fight.
