Me personally, I would have to go with Bute, but I can see why most would go with ward after the Green fight. I think Bute has the complete package... Speed, Size, hand speed, Location, and good conditioning. He is ambidextrous and can throw the wicked Cotto-like hooks to the body. I also think if you watch his inside game he is pretty under rated. Either way I will say this... The Super Middle Weight class is stacked for a while with all the talent. I do think the super six* is the most positive thing in boxing right now, it is too bad Bute couldn't be in there scrapping it out. Tell me half these guys wouldn't be fighting bums if it weren't for this tournament? Oh and don't sleep on Aurthur Abraham to win the whole thing...
Has to be between Ward, Bute and Kessler. No way Dirrell can make it to the top 3. He lost to Froch.
And he almost won. Some people think he did, I'm from England, I was routing for Froch but deep down I though Dirrell beat him although with Dirrell's first half performance it was close.
Dirrell came of age in that fight, he went in their like a chicken shít and came out boxing the socks off Carl Froch even backing Froch up and fighting him and Dirrell almost won a points decision. In his next fight he went in their with the confidence which he ended the Froch fight with and absolutely schooled the biggest most dangerous puncher in the division and put his arse on the canvas.
The result for the Dirrell v Froch fight will mean very little in the great scheme of Dirrell's career (it could work out to be a positive now that he won't be arsed about some undefeated record, he won't be afraid to take on new challenges in risk of losing) but the change of attitude, the shift in confidence Dirrell showed in the Froch fight, matched with his boxing ability has put him on the path to be the best.
Right now, I'd say Andre Ward is the more rounded fighter with Dirrell being more rough around the edges, but I think Dirrell is the most naturally talented. And I think he can beat Ward.
Dirrell would have Bute and Kessler chasing shadows. But against Ward, that will be a very interesting match. Really looking forward to it.
Am I the only one who doesnt think that bute isnt anything special? i mean.. hes good. but if hes taking into deep waters he will drown
I don't think I have ever seen Bute as warn out as he was against Andrade in the first match... Other than that I don't know how you could completely call him an out of shape fighter, or not conditioned. Nobody else has made him that tired... Hard to gauge just yet.
If Dirrell didnt do much in that fight, please show me what Froch did. Its hard to even find a decent, solid punch that Froch landed the whole fight.
Froch hurt Direll more then once, so please don't say that.
Ward...Bute isnt comfortable with pressure, if he quits fighting these unskilled guys then you will finally see the real Bute.
Second that, Bute isn't what people make him out to be.
^^^^^A true boxing fan. Take a walk before the decision is announced in a close fight. :ugh:
You really believe that it was close enough to warrant Froch winning? If it were anywhere, but in the UK Dirrell rides his bike to a victory. I genuinely thought he (Froch) had heart against Kessler (Even though he lost just about every round), but against Dirrell I couldn't justify giving him more than 3 rounds and that was generous... But hey what do I know I only analyzed the fight like 20 times. Again typical forum junkie talk... Why don't you tell me what Froch did to deserve a win, seeing as I am horrible at analyzing?
You actually know nothing about boxing, is that what you're saying?
You gathered all of that from what I said? I am willing to bet I know more than most people... I just am not attached to any fighters and call it how I see it. I actually know how to score a bout and analyze styles, but I guess that counts for nothing. Typical forum junkie talk.
I personally believe also that Dirrell Out boxed Froch, while on his huffy the whole fight. I didn't even watch the decision that's how confident I was. My brother had to later tell me that he was robbed.

You don't really believe that yourself?

That "raging homo" just so happened to completely outbox Carl Froch, and lose a robbery decision.
Last time I checked boxrec the W was on Froch's record. Deservedly I might add.
Dirrell?
You mean the raging homo who was clinging to Frochs nuts?

1. Andre Ward
2. Lucian Bute
3. Mikkel Kessler
4. Carl Froch
5. Andre Direll
6. Arthur Abraham
This list is made out of accomplishments, not skills, talent and potential. Cause then I'd rate Andre Direll higher. But who's done more at SMW? Undeafeated champions Bute and Ward. Ward beat the number one guy and had already killed Edison Miranda, and now humiliated Allan Green. Lucian Bute, could be number one, but I choose to rate him number 2, because of my philosophy of beating nr 1 guy, makes you number 1 (if you've done something at the weight before). Lucian is a very talented southpaw, and will start to have some fun fights the next three years. He's undefeated IBF champion and has dominated most opponents, that's why he's number two.
Mikkel Kessler, were the number one guy before, got humiliated by Ward - so what. He came back against an undefeated akward champion, Carl Froch. Gave him the fight of his life, and won it clearly (116-112, or at worst 115-113, couldn't possibly have went any other way). And the rest of his accomplishments talks for itself, three time world champion.
Carl Froch has still got a VERY solid resume, (JT, Jean Pascal, Andre Direll, Robin Reid and Brian Magee). A loss to Kessler, really is no shame. Which is one of the reasons I rate him at spot number 4. He really fought everyone out there. Plus most of his accomplishments were at 168.
Andre Direll - has not been doing too much around 168, lost a SD to Carl Froch - which I think is very fair, as he didn't doo much. And if you want to take the crown, them claim what's yours, if you're no better, leave it on the head of the champion. But he beat a strong Arthur Abraham. This guy has got all the potential in the World, a good fight vs. Ward can rate him higher, even with a loss. It all comes down to how he looks in the fight.
Arthur Abraham - great MW, but got fooled around of Andre Direll. The JT fight were close, almost got exposed there also. Hasn't done anything great at SMW, yet.
Allan Green nr. 78. This guy has got no heart at all......
My post was about ranking I'm afraid. Not about who's best. IMO the best SMW in the world is Andre Ward.
 at your p4p list.
1: How can Ward be A- based on him beating 2 C fighters?
2: How can Dirrell be B+ when he lost to a C-level fighter?
3: How can AA be B- when he hasn't beaten anybody? Don't give me Taylor because Froch, who's C-level, KO'ed Taylor in his hometown.
4: Who has Green beat to warrant a ranking at the level of Froch and Kessler?
Epic fail.
It's Louis the bold for crying out loud.... He's a f****** disaster :crucified
