I will. Kinda.
I mean, Clottey and Cotto II is the way Manny's going to cap off his legendary career?? If he was 45 and in someone like Roy Jones' position he could be happy to just go out with some wins, but Manny's fighting is just as good as it's ever been (if not better).
Not that beating a shot-ass DLH was world-changing, but after all those earlier wars like Marquez, Barrera, and Morales on the way up, I kinda felt like the Hatton's and Clottey's were just getting Manny ready for the next big phase of his career.
The Hatton win I felt really made it clear Manny was a superstar that was going to be the face of boxing long time. I though fights like DLH and Hatton were just getting him ready to launch and we'd see him in against the like of Mosley, Margarito, Mayweather, Cotto, Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, Tim Bradley....
..but Cotto, Clottey and that's it? A complete bust of a fight and rematch to a fight that was only competitive for one and a half rounds? May as well give Hatton and a rematch. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but you guys have been trying to tell me Pac's an ATG on here for ages. I love watching the dude, but damn.
Pacman legacy already set in the stone. He has nothing left to prove and should retire after the Cotto fight. His accomplishments (read my sig) may not be surprassed by anyone for a very looooong time. If he can't get Floyd then the Cotto fight most likely will happen in catchweight. Although I don't like this fight is intriguing because a lot of people saying Cotto was weight drained at 145. If the fight happen at 150 then gaining another 5 lbs will help him so plus the right plan and Steward in his corner.
Pac-Cotto II is not really a fight I'm interested in seeing. I'd rather see him move down to Jr WW and clean that division out. There's a lot of talent in that division, and I'd be very much interested in seeing him take a fight with Tim Bradley. One of the few fighters in that division that I think could give Pac some hell. Make that fight happen. No disrespect to Cotto, but Pac beat the hell out of him so badly in that first fight -- what would be the point in having a rematch? Fingers cross that Pac-May pushs through because Pac-Cotto II would really disappoint me. As well as Margarito fight. There is absolutely nothing to gain by fighting him.
Very much so. People say Mayweather is this cherry picker, but what does this make Pacquiao look like? Even if it is true Floyd is ducking the fight. A Margarito-Pacquiao fight would be better than a Cotto-Pacquiao rematch.
It would be disapointing to me because I think the outcome would be the same.
Still though a lot of people bring up the catch weight so if it was at 147 I would really not have that much of an issue with the fight as it clean up an annoying question that should be clear anyways.
I'd be disappointed with that fight taking place regardless of it's his last or not. What would be the point, just be given another title at the hands of a fighter you brutally destroyed a few pounds south.
