I don't get it at all because right now as it stands Mayweather has nothing to gain and everything to lose by fighting pacman. If he beats pacman the haters will just say that Manny was too small, blood drained, overrated or some nonsense. He will get zero or minimal boost in legacy points. Right now Mayweather is at the height of popularity and has outsold the "hero of asia" and "FOTD" at every turn, even with Marquez and Mosley who have never been draws. He will never have the haters respect, legacy minimal, and can make good money on his own. So what does Floyd gain by beating Pacman? Is it really going to do anything for his legacy?
PS: Plz no trolling and flaming!
Mosley wasn't remotely interested in Floyd a decade ago.
So it's no fault of Mayweather's that the fight didn't happen sooner.
How dare you tell the truth on this board! Floyd was scared of Mosley.
What did Jake Lamotta get from beating SRR? He will always be remembered as the guy who 1st beat the GOAT and they made a great movie about his life.
So if Floyd beats Pac, he will be remembered as a modern day Jake Lamotta but Pac still has more world titles in more weight classes and has the bigger name entertaining fights on his resume so Pac will still go down as GOAT
:rofl:
delusional..........
:nonono::nonono:
Also, i think it would depend on HOW Floyd would win against Manny. If he'd beat Manny being as aggressive as he was against Mosley or even more aggressive, then i can see him getting props for the win.
When floyd dominates (wins 10+ rds or ko) a fighter, fans tend to criticize the fighter who lost as being a bum, over the hill, too old, not in prime, etc etc. When the fight is closer (8 or 9 rds) ie Castillo 1 or ODH, then they say the judges were paid off or cheated or they give the other fighter more rds just to make their argument.
At the end of the day fans that hate floyd keep asking him to prove himself before they give him credit because they hate how he acts. Its fine. They know the truth.

no disagreement there.

The media have enough power to make a Floyd win over Manny Pacquiao to look like any ordinary wins on his resume.
Actually, i think the media was pretty fair with his win against mosley. They gave him props for beating Mosley, albeit with the sometimes side comment that the fight should have been made ten years ago.
i think most people would give Floyd jr. his credit due. I know i would.
Look at Ali. Lots of people hated him during his time, but now he gets the respect due him.
They'll have to no choice but to give him props, otherwise they will look like clowns. But i do have a feeling that most of them will discredit the win as if Manny Pacquiao was never great in the first place.

I agree with check hook and others . After the money he will gain nothing else. The SSM fight was the same thing. After the domination those who won't give floyd credit because they hate him still didn't give him any. It was ok now beat manny.
Besides, it doesn't really matter if haters respect him or not. to quote Jay-Z;
"fvck ni99as, b!tches too, all I got is this money, this will do!"

the only thing he gains is the money.
The people who never give Floyd credit for anything will come out in full force at first, but as far as the people who matter, in the eyes of legit boxing fans, boxing historians, the real sports media, beating Pacquiao is what caps Floyd's career, proves indisputably how great he is, and finally gets him the respect he feels he deserves.
The boost to his legacy and the fan appreciation that comes with it will be tremendous.
PBF WILL get a legacy boost
He'll have finally beaten a great fighter in his prime
Im sick of hearing excuses like this from IDIOTS. You don't get to 41-0 having been a Six time world champion in 5 different weight classes without fighting any top fighters in their prime.
When he beats Pacquiao you will hear the same usual crap. "He was the bigger man", "Floyd was supposed to beat him, He's been beat before" etc etc. When Floyd beats him Pacquiao will go from a "Top 3 ATG" to an average, overhyped, smaller man who has already been beaten 3 times.
